Lei Xinglong is the youngest member of the Lei family. His parents failed to conceive a son years ago, and just after Xianlong's birth, the couple tried again. They managed to finally have a son and heir to the family, however... he was born in the year of the sheep. In Chinese lore, although the Sheep are very polite and respectful individuals, they are born to be followers. If he is to be the head of the family, he must be a leader, not a follower.
The family doted on the boy, often ignoring his older sister. They paid private tutors to teach the boy his lessons, making him above most of his classmates in school. He remembers barely, at the age of 10, when his parents sent his sister away to study in Hong-Kong. He wanted to go with his sister, but his parents told him that it was best that he stays in China and study hard.
However, it wasn't before long that his grandfather sat him down and told him tales of his ancestors who were warriors who defended their home until World War II when they all died. He also told him that once he becomes of age, he was going to inherit the Kali-Yuga, an ancient staff passed down from generations dating back in the warring states. But until then, he is to train with Claudio and the Archers of Sirius in order to learn how to use the staff.
Xinglong is very polite and courteous, as his zodiac suggests. He's also very kind and humble, as well as curious. He also at the same time, sometimes questions his parents' motives for sending his sister away to Hong-Kong, and sometimes wondered if there were any ulterior motives for sending her away. He sometimes wondered if she was exiled from the family, due to her bad behavior.
