"That's cool. A dude with a pet grizzly bear. Sounds like Heihachi Mishima to me." Xianlong stated. "He's a bearded guy with a friendly grizzly bear. Well, except Heihachi doesn't have a beard..." She tilted her head a little.
"Yeah. I'm glad Kuma's friendly. But what gets me is how in the world such a bear is able to consent to fighting in a tournament? Or why is he one of the possible heirs of the Mishima Zaibatsu. What absolute bullocks!"
Xianlong shrugged. "Beats me. Those Mishimas are crazy men on steroids."

"Kuma's not that cool... but I guess that for a bear, he can be friendly..." said Paul as he took another bite of his slice of pizza before he added:
"I guess Heihachi is already senile or something... That's why he appoints his bear to such a position. Anyway, does Heihachi Mishima has any close friends or something remaining? Appart from his bear? He must be one of those people who give all to their dog because they hate humanity."

"Sounds like it. He hates his entire family, except for a bear. Maybe he's one of those crazy fools."
"Whatever the motives and reasons, Heihachi is one strange man..."

"Yeah, he's really weird. I guess Kuma is somehow more normal than him... But still I like the fact he organizes Tournaments like this. Except I don't like that he cheats. In fact, did Heihachi ever cheated? Who was the boss when I won and didn't win? I mean, they could have told me that the monster was transforming! And if it took an hour for the monster to do so and that I was too far now, there should have been a time limit to remain in the game. I had received that head injury that made me hear a ringing sound and nothing else so I may not have heard if they told me but still they should have given me some notice somehow not let me go so that the annoying grandson took all the glory..."
Paul was still getting angry at that missed opportunity to be king of the Iron Fist Tournament. So it somehow always was with both anticipation and resentfulness that he came back to the next Tournaments. That tournament wasn't the only thing that indicated him that he was the toughest in the universe but it did show the proof to everybody else and now they didn't believe it...

"Yeah. It's really bizzare. Such a bear is calm and collected."
"I dunno... maybe you should have paid close attention..." Xianlong whispered quietly so that Paul didn't hear her.
"But there's the next tournament we have to worry about. You can shine there."

Despite having some frustration over the last Tournaments, Paul was still excited over the next one.
"The next tournament? Yeah, I can't wait. Hey maybe we should go around the arena just to see and get the feel of the future Tournament or somethin'. By the way, where do you live Steve? You live around here or you travelled to come?'

"I was still here from the last tournament. Just been travelling really. Trying to find some answers." Steve said to Paul.
"Hmm... where would the arena be? Are you sure they would let us in?" Xianlong asked.

" Aah! she's so lucky she gets to go to school, I've never been myself... clan rules and stuff." Jiro began to say something else but was interrupted by his father. " My apologies detective. This isn't the ideal place to have a serious conversation. Ha Ha! But the circumstances have changed and time is of the essence. You had quite the snake latched onto you. The Spetsnaz soldiers can be quite ruthless." Doppo and Jiro stepped out of the car. Jiro holding a duffel bag with clothes for him to change into. Doppo turned to the Manji clan escorts, " Tell my brother thank you, I will reach out to him shortly. I believe we can take it from here." " Yes sir!" " Yes sir!" The two Manji clan members bowed to Doppo. He and Jiro bowed slightly in return. The two masked men got in the bullet soaked mini-van and screeched off. " Come detective! Let us exchange knowledge. Ha ha ha!" Doppo said as he walked towards the restaurants entrance. " We get shot at and he laughs it off? Jeez." Jiro said under his breath. Lei was about to say something, but Doppo interrupted him. As the three hopped out of the van, and headed their way to the restaurant. He really liked Doppo's warm, jolly nature. It reminded him of Master Wang when he trained under his tutelage. He was a jolly old man, despite losing two of his best friends. Lei's grandfather died due to heart failure. And Jinpachi... vanished. Lei grabs a small journal from his pocket as he takes a seat at a table. "My father left this journal for me to read. He wanted me to avenge his death. In it, he was investigating the sudden disappearance of the Mishima family. He was very vague and wrote things in riddles, and I believe that he discovered something... something that Heihachi didn't want the public to know, so he silenced my father when I just turned four..."Lei then pulled out a piece of paper. "This was Kazuya's note to his father. My father managed to recover it. I think my father not only wanted to stop Heihachi from what he was planning to do... but he also mentioned something about a strong Yin presence... leaving me to believe... my father discovered the Devil Gene, and he was going to tell the world about it. He had evidence that Heihachi killed his wife, and his son, so he was going to put Heihachi behind bars and thwart his evil plans. Unfortunately, as you can tell... he failed. I need to honor my mother and my father. My parents both believed that Heihachi was going to kill my brother and I, too... so my mother sacrificed herself, so that my brother and I would end up as orphans on the street... impossible to track down. And I stand here before you, today... to tell you the tale..."

Lei explained to Doppo his father's findings that he left behind about the Mishima family.
"Hmmm... That is quite the story and it matches a lot of similarities from what my father told me on his deathbed. I'm not a fan of calling my birthright the devil gene, but for even for the lack of its eloquence, I suppose the statement is true." Doppo closed his eyes to think back on his father's last conversation with him. "Kazumi Mishima was my aunt, she was killed at the hands of Heihachi, but he killed her in self-defense... We Hachijo come from a very long line of exorcist and assassins. The Hachijo are cursed, detective. Cursed for being the descendants of the famous half-demon Kintaro... So to atone for our cursed blood, we sniff and snuff out the evil of the world..." Doppo began to rub his beard. "My Aunt's final mission was to kill her husband. My father told me this was not planned but fated. Our clan's oracle at the time foresaw all the war and death the Mishima name would bring to the world and could not ignore it, despite our new-found relationship with the Mishimas. She was chosen to do so because she was the only person strong enough to face Heihachi Mishima and she already had their trust... A cruel fate indeed." Doppo shook his head in grief. "My father was sent to see my Aunt, a few days before her death because she wasn't responding to any of the messages my clan had sent her. He said she looked sick, almost drained, but there was a surge of powerful demonic energy bursting from her spirit. He didn't know what to make of it, but she told him not to worry and she would complete her mission soon. Heihachi likely found out about our clan's secret the night she attempted to kill him... because he then wasted no time massacring my entire village with hired guns." He paused for a moment and balled his free hand into a fist very tightly until you could see the whites of his knuckles.
"Whoa... Dad, is all this true? You never told me this story." Jiro asked. Doppo remained silent.
"Hi! Welcome to Mario Pizza! Can I get you gentlemen something to drink?" a young waitress asked. She was wearing a fake mustache and a Mario Bros. cap.

Lei took in everything that Doppo had said about the Hachijo family. It explains everything. There are unseen evil... and the irony is, humans are more evil than demons. So, Heihachi killed Kazumi out of self-defense. What about Jinpachi? Lei wondered. And of course, Heihachi eliminated the Hachijo, as this man is known to eliminate all possible threats. Including innocent children, at the expense of Kazuya, and the Hachijo family.
"My kin-folk, too... were wiped out by soldiers. I understand that actually witnessing it happen is far worse than hearing about it... and I understand my father's intense hatred for anything Japanese..." Lei then chuckled to himself, smiling. "If he were alive now, he'd be pissed off at me for even talking to you...I'd be bringing such dishonor to the family."
Didn't really surprise Lei that this young boy wasn't told the story. Lei didn't hear the story until he was older. His young child mind couldn't comprehend the true evil that is humans themselves. In fact, that very same story that inspired Lei to become a cop, is also the very same thing that inspired his own father to join the police force. They had the same idea. They didn't want any more innocent people to get hurt. They wanted to be of help, and stop people from doing such misdeeds. Of course, there will always be evil, as Yin and Yang exist in balance. For every violent criminal, there is someone good out there, helping others. Same for the opposite, for every good cop out there protecting and serving, there is a corrupt cop taking advantage of his power.
However, the young waitress showing up brought him back to reality.
"I think I'll take some Coca Cola..."

"I think I'll take some Coca-Cola..." Lei replied to the waitress.
"Jiro, in due time there will be much more for us to discuss. For now, be patient my boy." Doppo never stopped rubbing his beard.
"Yes, sir." Jiro was visibly annoyed.
"For now young lady! I will take green tea if you have it." His voice perked up quite a bit.
"Uhhh? I think we can make that for you!" The young girl replied. "And you sir? Huh?!" Jiro had gotten up from the table before he could answer. He was still somewhat upset about not being included in on information. He headed toward the restroom where he could change out of the old man clothes.
"The boy will have a water for now." Doppo said.
"Ummm, Okay!" She set menus for pizza down on the table and walked off.
"Detective, I've followed your work for some time now. You're record is truly impeccable! Ha ha! There are some things I would love your help with, but I would like to know what else it is you would like to find out from me as well. My knowledge is quite adept inside the Mishima history. I have done my own investigation on them for the last 22 years and have been waiting for the right moment to take down my in-laws. Please do not hesitate to ask anything you would like to know. I promise to answer to the best of my ability."

Once Jiro got up and left, Lei couldn't help but notice how upset the boy is. Lei thought maybe he should go talk to him, as he could understand the boy's pain. Lei just now found out about his heritage from his brother just a few days prior. His brother hid it from him because he didn't want his little brother to share the same fate that his great-grandfather, grandfather, and father had.
"Detective, I've followed your work for some time now. You're record is truly impeccable! Ha ha! There are some things I would love your help with, but I would like to know what else it is you would like to find out from me as well. My knowledge is quite adept inside the Mishima history. I promise to answer to the best of my ability."
It made him happy when someone comments on his work. It was something that he takes pride in.
"Thank you. People say I'm the best, but I'm really just doing my job. I've tracked down Mishima activity, too as well. Mainly because Kazuya killed my partner and best friend. If Kazuya hadn't done that, the Mishima family would have gone past my radar. My brother never wanted me to know about Heihachi's role in my father's death. Now, I don't have proof that he killed my dad, but I've got a hunch that he did, and my hunches never lie."
Lei then pondered on what question he was going to ask. "You said something about Kazumi being your aunt, and her mission was to take out Heihachi, yes? Before he sends the world to Hell? So, you said she was sick... right? Like... you said she had a surge of demonic energy. Like what exactly happen? Did the demon blood... just take over her?" Lei really wondered this himself. "And do you know exactly what became of Jinpachi Mishima?"

Like... you said she had a surge of demonic energy. Like what exactly happened? Did the demon blood... just take over her? And do you know exactly what became of Jinpachi Mishima?" Lei being the intricate detective he is unloaded questions on Doppo, some of which were things Doppo was still finding out himself. Doppo wasn't sure where to start.
"Hmmm... Yes, my father said my aunt appeared sick and weary. As if she were fighting off a very powerful demon possession. We're trained from young to harness our cursed blood so it was not her own power that did it... We Hachijo's have the ability to harness negative energy and make it our own... and my Aunt Kazumi was the heir to the great Kintaro's strength, so she was the strongest of us all. She had tamed very powerful demons even as a child. So, my father was shocked to see something clawing its way out of her spirit when she was in her prime... He mentioned something about an old fairytale about some ancient martial art my great ancestor Kintaro created that drew demonic power from the underworld and could manifest itself as energy, but I could find no evidence of such a power."
"Here you go! One Coco Cola, one water, and one hot green tea." The waitress came back with a tray with the drinks they ordered.
"Thank you, child." Doppo nodded and she went to greet some new customers.
"Where was I? Oh yes! As for Jinpachi Mishima, I only got to meet him once at Heihachi and Kazumi's wedding. I was just a boy, no more than five I believe, and he was the most powerful man in the room... I could feel it even then. And yet, he was also the happiest; happier than even Heihachi on his own wedding day. Sadly, I could pull no evidence of his disappearance. However, upon my own research, I did find out a few days before his disappearance, Heihachi strong-armed the entire board of the Mishima Zaibatsu to vote Jinpachi out of the CEO position, giving him full control of the business... I read some of the old World War II stories of Jinpachi, there are quite a few scary ones... He was not a man you could stab in the back without consequences." Doppo blew some of the steam away from his cup before taking a sip of the tea.

Lei nodded in understanding. As a devout follower of Han Religion, Lei was no stranger to demons, monsters, spirits, ghosts, immortals, and gods.
"Apparently, Jinpachi knew my grandfather." Lei stated. "And knowing that alone tells me that he is a kind man."
Lei then drank his coke. "And how is Jiro? He seemed pretty upset when he left the table."

"My son is strong, detective. Unfortunately, he has been like this since a young child. His sheltered life has caused him to not take rejection or surprises well. My father did not tell me anything until his death so I understand Jiro's frustration, but I understand timing is also key when delivering information and he is still not ready for some of the things I know." Doppo took another sip of the tea. "He is different from the rest of the Hachijos detective, the cursed blood seems to have skipped him. Perhaps we have finally pleased the Gods and they removed the curse from him because my son has the opportunity to be the first Hachijo to lead a normal life... but the only way to achieve that is to remove the remainder of our enemies."
Jiro had made his way out of the bathroom, after changing into a sweatshirt, shorts, and workout leggings. One of the female waitresses had tripped out of the kitchen in front of Jiro. She was holding several food items. Jiro's reflexes were instinctive. He broke the girls fall with his shin and he curled his foot up. He then focused on making sure none of the food items fell to the floor. The girl was surprised when she didn't hear the crash of plates on the floor she opened her eyes to some of the customers and staff cheering at Jiro's amazing reflexes. She stood up and was immediately flushed with infatuation with the young handsome man, who saved her from embarrassment. She bowed several times and left him to deliver her food to the table.
"He can be anything he wants, detective. I'll make sure of that." Doppo finished the remainder of his tea. Jiro made his way to the table, his frustration now replaced with embarrassment from saving someone instinctively. "Excellent show of reflexes son, you are almost as fast as me! Ha Ha Ha!" Doppo slapped Jiro on his back several times.
"Yeah, yeah... Dad very funny!" Jiro smirked.
