The bear fell down, dead.
"I really didn't want to do that. But that poor creature was suffering. I hope you guys all forgive me."
Julia understood Zakk had to do it for both their protection and for taking the bear out of its misery. She lowered her head and told Zakk:
“I guess it was the best thing you could do… He would have suffered so much if he had lived…”
She then made a small prayer for the bear’s soul and eternal rest. She somehow expected to see monsters in the underground when they came but she didn’t expect to see one that soon and for it to be an innocent animal (an innocent human would also be sad of course but Julia had a soft spot for animals)…
With all those deaths, Julia was really saddened and angered at the same time. For some seconds, she thought about quitting G-Corporation and going back home, she had enough of all this but then she remembered she had to make the one responsible for all this, that horrible Kazuya Mishima, fall down. G-Corporation could do good things without him. But with the tower’s destruction, was he already dead? While first pitying Kazuya for being so hated by his evil father, she now hoped he was dead and now blamed him for all his actions that somehow drove his father to probably fire on the tower and kill many innocents. Heihachi was evil and inconsiderate but Kazuya deserved to be opposed since he was such an evil and cruel monster. In fact, they both were evil monsters.
Then Steve came back.
"Paul are you alright? Hey!"
“Yeah, I’m alright…” said Paul as he winced from the pain, the claws had entered really deeply into his leg and it was very painful, but he tried to hide it. He was the toughest in the universe and intended to stay that way… Luckily, there were a lot of medicine supplies around here to treat his wound.
"I wonder if they were trying to create Kuma." Zak muttered.
"Or were they working with the Devil Gene?"
“Devil gene? Is it contagious?” suddenly asked Paul in worries as he put some bandage over his bleeding wound.
Yet he then thought that if he suddenly was infected with the Devil gene, he would be able to confront Kazuya once more and probably would win… Maybe he should be infected… Yet he didn’t take that idea seriously, he’d rather not be infected, but if he was, there probably would have been some advantages…
“Or make some bear suffer”, replied Julia to Zakk before she continued:
“Chaolan told me Kazuya never loved animals and hated Kuma senior with a passion. He even once tried to kill him when they were young, by poisoning him. Maybe not even just once… Chaolan feared the bear but also sometimes feared for the bear… And he told me that Kazuya also made many experiments on endangered animals once he became head of the Mishima Zaibatsu… which was the reason why Jun Kazama came to stop him. Too bad Jun Kazama isn’t here anymore since he would need another lecturing… But then, he never seemed to listen to her or anyone… Chaolan did warn me as well to expect Kazuya to do twice the evil I would expect him to do…”
Still traumatised by all the destruction and many deaths, Julia wanted to go out but she also wanted to help Zakk with his detective work by going through the few filing cabinets that were still okay. She had to think about this instead of all her friends and colleagues who just died. She had to focus on something else to not start to cry again. Not much information was there since much must be in the computers that were destroyed for the most part. Yet she then showed a computer to Zakk and told him:
“Zakk… We should take that computer to look into it. Not sure if it still works but it doesn’t seem in a too bad shape… The internal hard disc may be okay…"
Once having taken care of his wound, Paul got up and started looking around (while trying not to limp) to see any other survivors. But most of the underground had already collapsed and they couldn't go very far. Quickly looking around, the group found no other survivors or monsters.
The whole place then began to crumble once more as if there would be another collapse soon.
