"See?" Elise said.
Zakk was very confused about this. He really had no idea what to do. He has held Li-Mei before, but that was different.
"We are going to the hospital." Elise said. "Wulong is waiting."
Zakk looked down at Felix. "Look, I am not your daddy. Okay? I'm just... Some guy who happens to be holding you."
"I wonder if he really wanted to see Wulong."

Giorgio noticed a bracelet on Zakk's wrist, interested in it's illumination. Only the baby could see the blue light glowing from it. he reached out, wrapping his hands around it, almost smiling.

"What's this..." Zakk said. "Sorin gave me this bracelet..."
Elise then sat down in her chair, just feeling really happy. Felix was bonding with Zakk. Things are going well. Although Lei told her that they have to give the child up, Elise hoped that she'd be able to keep Felix. Lei was right, he's a blessing from God.
"I'll be honest, he can easily pass for yours and Pop's child."
"When we go out in public, everyone thinks Felix is mine and Wulong's child."

"Alright!" Elise clapped her hands. "Are you coming with me? To the hospital?"
"I'll pass... I think I'll stay here with Steve."
"Are you sure?"
"I am."
"Alright." Elise then got the baby ready as she puts him in a carrier. She then walks up to Li-Mei as she carried Felix. "We're going to go see your Baba."
"No!" She crosses her arms as she pouts.
"No? You don't want to see your Baba?"
"Not with that baby!" She points at the baby carrier.
Elise wasn't sure what to do about this. She just sighed. "Alright. Steve and Wanrei will be babysitting you, behave yourself, little girl, okay?"
Li-Mei just pouts as Elise leaves the apartment with Felix.
"Now that was just plain disrespectful." Steve commented.
"She's not my Mama!"
Which was true. Elise was not Li-Mei's mother. Zakk thought she and Elise got along well. She was always so polite and courteous toward her, and now... she really doesn't like her. Does it have to do with Felix?
------------------------- Elise arrived at the hospital with Felix. They were lead to Lei’s room as Elise placed the carrier down and immediately went to embrace Lei as he sat down on the examination table. He had a large cast covering his nose and his cheeks, but other than that, he looked fine.
“What happened?” Elise asked she lets go.
“Well, you see, this guy is a disgruntled employee." Lei sounded very nasal. "He was not making enough to buy his wife a Porsche. So he gets mad and holds a knife to the secretary. Then an officer comes in to negotiate, but gets too close and he gets stabbed in the neck. But he's okay now. If the man had aimed a little bit higher, probably would have killed the officer. And well, he ends up stealing his gun and all Hell breaks loose. Anyway I jump in. I tried talking him out of it, you know, but... he shoots me. Don't worry I was wearing a vest. I learned my lesson the first time I went in without a vest. Well, anyway back to the story, I try to get the gun free, and he slams his elbow in my nose. I got the gun though and knocked him out.”
Elise tried really hard not to laugh. It was kind of hard to take Lei's story seriously with a funny voice like that. She simply bit her bottom lip, as to make herself look as though this was a serious story, and tried to hide her smile and prevent herself from laughing. “So, is that all he did?”
Lei nods. “Poor guy though, he won’t be able to give his wife a Porsche while he is in jail. I mean… this materialistic culture hurts a lot of young men with bright futures. Plus, he did try to kill me, so I don't know if he was mentally unstable to begin with or if he snapped. I'm sure counselling would have helped him.”
“Well, I am glad to see that you are doing well.” Elise finally smiled, but clenched her jaw down as to not laugh.
Lei nods. “But that’s what police work is like, love.” Lei placed a hand over Elise’s. “I understand it if this is too much. That last time, with the terrorist bombing on New Year's. I made it out without any scratches. Sometimes, I might get shot at... maybe once... twice... three times? But all in all... that's just how it is."
Elise nods in understanding. "I know. I understand." This was really hard. Lei was being very serious, but his voice though! Elise had to not laugh.
"I'll need a ride home, by the way! I'm taking it easy here, with my broken nose and all. My nose should be okay in a few days, then we can take the cast off..."
Unable to hold her laughter back anymore, Elise busted out laughing as Lei placed a hand on the side of his face.
It's my voice, isn't it? My broken nose makes me sound like Squidward... I hope it clears up soon...

After Elise got off the phone, she saw that Felix was awake, and quickly took the baby out of the carrier and cooed at him as she rocked the baby. Lei stood up, watching the woman rock the baby. Lei smiled as Elise seemed to be truly happy. He hoped the woman wouldn't get too attached to this infant. Lei was distancing himself from this child as he knew that child was going to be eventually returned to his family. It was never a good idea to get attached to a child that is temporarily under your care. In Lei's experience, the child does usually either ends up with their relatives, in the orphanage and foster-care system, or tragically died due to neglect, especially as an infant.
Felix is very lucky Elise happened to stumble upon him. Otherwise he would suffer the same fate as all the other infants who died after being abandoned for nearly two weeks.
"Are you driving?" Elise asked interrupting Lei in his thoughts.
Lei shook his head. "I'm really high right now." He said in his accent. "No DUI."
He honestly needed to refrain from speaking. Although he took pain medicine and steroids and anti-inflammatory medicine, the roof of his mouth really burns right now. It was best that he rest. Maybe he really needed to slow down.
"Looks like I get to drive again!" She said to the baby. "Maybe we can go for a quick stroll down the block, you like that, don't you?"
Lei was going to stay at home and rest. He really needed this.

Elise carried the baby as Lei carried the carrier. He couldn't help but notice the child staring at him. After all, it is said that babies can see auras and Lei wondered if he gave off a peaceful and calm aura.
Once the two got to the car, Lei straps the seat down as Elise gently puts the baby in place, the two staring at Felix.
"You wanna go for a walk after we drive?" Elise asked the baby smiling as Lei did the same, his ponytail falling down his shoulder.

Lei woke up from another nightmare. He sat up in bed, scratching his head as he glanced down at the sleeping Elise. However, he saw that Elise’s head was resting in Maya’s lap. The woman stroked the redhead’s curls with her only hand, as the stump where her left hand was had a cloth over it, though fresh blood was dripping from it. She was also very pale and had a lot of wounds and bruises all over her face.
Lei knew that this wasn’t Maya and it was the Espelhar again. It was playing games with his mind again.
“You really love her, don’t you?”
Lei didn’t say a word. He remained silent, as he didn’t want that monster killing Elise.
“I honestly didn’t think you'd be able to move on after what happened to me.”
“Time heals all wounds. Besides, you died happy and peacefully. That counts for something in my book.”
Maya then ran her sharp nails along Elise’s throat. Lei feared for what was going to happen next.
“I’m sure you’d be so heartbroken if something were to happen to this gwailou, that you would never be able to move on and heal from it, would you? Wanna put that theory to the test?” She smiled, baring her teeth, some of which were missing.
Lei watched as Maya slashed open Elise’s throat, causing the woman to bleed out.
“Elise! Nooo!”
Lei found himself waking up from another nightmare again. He almost questioned reality. Elise was awake, her hand on Lei’s cheek. It had been a few days since the incident at the Wu Lan Tower that left Lei with a broken nose. Although the injury was healing, his nose was swollen, as the swelling would go down in a few weeks. As of right now, he had to have a bandage over his nose for better breathing, as a swollen nose does block airways. Plus, he might have to go back in for some minor rhinoplasty to fix it.
“Oh Elise… thank the Ancestors…” He sighed with relief.
“Was it Maya again?”
Lei nods.
Elise knew about Maya, and she was the first person that Lei opened up to about Maya. Though Lei was very reluctant, the woman had to know about his cruel past, as he knows all about her cruel past.
“It is not Maya… it is the Espelhar, toying with your mind again.”
“I know…” Lei whispered as he place his hands in his face. "What time is it anyway?"
"It's 3:47 AM."
"Interesting."
"What?"
"I don't hear Felix crying. Plus... I should really start getting ready for work." Lei yawned.
"But you don't go in until later on_"
"I need to get a fresh headstart. Never hurts to prep the ramen before actually cooking it."
"Yes. And while you go do that, I shall continue to search for clues on Felix's parents."
"Sounds good." Lei slid out of the bed, as Elise decided that she should sleep as sleep has been very scarce, no thanks to Felix.
Elise got the reports in the mail. Lei was gone to work, so that left Elise alone with Felix, and the mail. Elise opens the envelope and reads it. After reading the paper, she sighs as she places the note down on the table.
"So... it truly was not meant to be."
According to the DNA analysis of the fetuses, she was going to have three girls. An identical pair of twins, and a fraternal triplet. What had happened is that the fraternal child had some chromosomal abnormalities and died, due to lacking the necessary genes to survive. However, the twin girls were perfectly healthy. Elise's uterus basically evacuated every child out of her body. It was very likely this happened because her body couldn't handle the demands of carrying multiple children. As sad as this makes Elise, it was probably for the better.
Had she gone through with this pregnancy, she probably could die. Elise is a very small woman. She may have wide hips, but her body probably could not handle the triplets. Plus, Elise really didn't do anything to try as she knew they would die. But she didn't expect to feel such intense sorrow. She tried her damn best not to get attached. She wonders how much pain Lei is in right now. He's been avoiding her, and withdrawing and working a lot lately. Although they talked about it, it never really went anywhere. And while Lei is there, and the two are together, mingling, telling stories, and laughing... it seemed like he wasn't there. Lei was physically there. But at the same time... he just wasn't there. Elise didn't know what it was... but she hoped she would be able to speak to him about this again if she can catch him getting off from work.
Elise sat down in the corner and wept to herself silently.

Katya arrived in Hong-Kong, meeting up with her mother. She knocks on the door as she hears multiple locks disengage as her mother greeted her from behind the door.
Elise reached out and immediately embraced Katya, squeezing her tightly. She eventually lets go, and takes notice of the baby that Elise held in her arms. She was rocking him, and humming to him.
Katya knew exactly who this baby is. Her eyes widen as she realized that this is what happened to Anna's baby.
Did the demon just kill mom's triplets?
"Relax, Katya, this is not our child. Honestly, it is impossible for us to produce a child with beautiful blue eyes." Elise pointed out, eventhough the baby had his eyes closed. "As Wulong is only a carrier of the recessive green-eye gene that you and I both have a pair of alleles for."
She seemed to be in good spirits.
"We're going to find his parents. Maybe we can take care of him. What do you think?"
Just as Katya was going to explain to Elise about the child, she remembers her promise. As long as she keeps this a secret, the Espelhar wouldn't harm her mother.
"I don't know. What does Lei think of this?"
"He did promise me that if this child's parents were not found, I could take care of Felix."
"I see..." Katya said. "How long will you be in Hong-Kong?"
"At first, Wulong said I needed to leave as soon as we find Felix's parents. Then, he changed his mind and told me that I can take all the time I need to heal." She places Felix in the bassinet.
"How are you feeling now?"
"A little bit of pelvic pain, with a pinch of depression." Elise said bluntly.
"Oh. I suppose when you feel better you'll come back, right?"
"Yes. I will. I promise. I am just happy to see you, Katya. Thank you for stopping by to see me. Also, will you be staying for dinner?"
"What will be eating?"
"Wulong said he was picking up takeout. Would you like some?"
"Sure." Katya said.
"It will be our treat."
Katya could stay for a bit. After all, she needed to get to Japan to fight in the tournament and find Sorin for Daniel. She was just happy to see her mother. And she was also happy to see that Anna's child is in good hands. Katya wonders if her mom will ever find out the truth about this baby.

It was later on that night. Katya went to Japan, while Li-Mei was successfully tucked into bed. The baby was fast asleep in the bassinet next to the couple as Lei sat down in his chair as Elise was sitting on the desk next to the papers that Lei was reading through as she had her legs crossed. He secretly found himself taking quick peeks at Elise’s feminine mounds. He could have sworn that she got bigger. Of course Elise is showing some cleavage, but that’s only so that she has easy access to her breasts for feeding. But her breasts look so much bigger than Lei remembered. Does breastfeeding make one’s tits get bigger? Too bad Elise is still bleeding from her miscarriage. Lei really wanted to “investigate” this further, but it will have to wait until later. Plus with her being busy taking care of Felix, Lei probably won’t be doing any “investigating” any time soon.
“So, this child is from mostly Northwestern Europe, with a splash of Mediterranean and Scandinavian DNA.” Lei began as he read the notes.
Elise nods. “In other words, this child is from the UK.”
“Yes. Is Felix from England?”
Elise nods. “Well, there’s a lot of Wales in his blood.”
“Okay…”
“But then again a substantial amount of Mediterranean blood. But much more than yours. Here is how I can explain the DNA makeup. Felix's parents are both from the UK. Felix’s paternal grandmother is from the Mediterranean. His paternal grandfather is from Northwestern Europe. His maternal grandfather has concentrated amounts of Northwestern Europe. That’s probably where is all comes from. And his paternal grandmother has a lot of Wales and a bit of Scandinavian.”
Lei nods. “Hmm… So no Asian DNA?”
Elise shook her head.
“And… there goes my prostitution theory.” Lei groaned. “She wasn’t on drugs. Looks like this case has nothing to do with the Triads.”
“Hmm. Maybe the mother just abandoned Felix. Plain and simple. You know people would do that.”
“I was hoping to solve some crime!” Lei whined.
“Looks like we get to adopt Felix.”
“We?” Lei chuckled. “Honey, aren’t you getting ahead of yourself here?”
“What do you mean?”
“We aren’t even married yet and you’re discussing this as though we agreed on this. Taking care of a baby is a huge commitment, Elise. Are you sure you want this? Or are you just filling a void, hoping that adopting an infant would do it? You really need to think about this, love. You’re not in the best state mentally.”
“Neither are you, Wulong! You’re using this investigation to 'fill a void', too! And you’re working a lot more than normal! Look, I know you said that this affected you as much as it affected me… but…”
“Honey, we don’t even live together. Listen, we need to focus and keep finding Felix’s family. Okay? Don’t get too attached!”
“Kind of hard not to since you decided that you suddenly don’t want any more kids.”
“I thought we already discussed that I wasn’t going to get a vasectomy! But we still need to get Felix back to his family regardless of what happens to my balls.”
“And what makes you so sure of this?”
“My gut tells me so. My gut never lies. I’m always right. Fulong chalked it up to me being spiritually sensitive and having very powerful clairvoyant abilities that I inherited from my father. It explains why I can sometimes sense my attackers before they even attack. But either way I know for a fact that Felix has family that misses him. I’m sure he’s grateful that we’re taking care of him, but something tells me that he misses his parents.”
Elise sighed. As she sighed, Lei took note of Elise's bouncing boobs. Elise’s uterus was still sore from birthing three clumps of cells and placenta and lots of blood. He couldn’t take her then and there. However, Lei knew how to restrain himself.
“So that’s why you refuse to help me out with him?”
Lei nods. “I get attached to people too easily. Last time I had to take care of an infant, I got too attached and got depressed when I took the child back to his father. I never saw him again. I don’t want that to happen again. I don’t want that to happen to you either.”
“So, he won’t let you see the kid?”
Lei shook his head. “Well, it was more of, 'Thanks for taking care of my child while the mom was gone. Bye.’ That was years ago. Kid's probably 10-12 right now.”
Elise nods in understanding. She motions for Lei to read through the files even more, this time, the next page had nothing to do with Felix’s genetic makeup, but the time, it had to do with their offspring. Lei read through, and then looked up at Elise.
“So… this has nothing to do with stress?” Lei asked.
Elise nods. “25% of all pregnancies end this way. But due to my condition, my eggs are not viable for reproduction. However, those twin girls…”
“Yeah. I see that. Your body knows it cannot handle it.”
Elise nods. “I think that was probably the stress. You and I both were very stressed out about this. The timing just wasn’t right.”
“Of course…” Lei places a hand over Elise’s hand. “Timing is everything.”
“For all that’s worth, my uterus is healthy and fully functional. I can still have kids. I just can’t have them naturally. With my 49th birthday approaching, I might be reaching menopause very soon. According to my sister and mother, they didn’t reach menopause until they were in their mid-50’s. Despite the odds, there is still a chance… it is very slim. As painful as this whole miscarriage is… it gives me hope. This means we may still be able to conceive.”
“You’re right. That’s good news. That miscarriage is just a sign that you’re still able to get pregnant. And we also really need to be more careful.” He pats her hand.
“Do not worry, as soon as I heal, I am going to use an IUD.”
“Also, I’m sorry for avoiding you again. I know, we talked about it, but I’m grieving. Like you are. And I learned from Bryan’s death… I shouldn’t just force myself to overwork to forget about the pain. I should embrace the pain… and share it with you. We’re a team!”
“Yes, we are a team…”
“Also…” He looked away for a second, crossing his arms. “How long are you going to stay with me in Hong-Kong?”
Elise should have seen this coming. First Lei gets sentimental about being a team, and being together, and now, he’s going to send her back to Poland. He really knows how to ruin a romantic moment.
“I thought that we agreed that after I heal, I go back to Poland?”
“Yeah… well… I just… um…” He honestly didn’t know how to ask her. He knows she’s ready. And Lei’s a little nervous about taking that next step in their relationship. “I love you!” He perks up, excitedly grabbing both of Elise’s hands.
“I love you, too.” Elise was a little confused.
“Yeah! I love you, Elise! I do!”
Was he going to propose? Elise wasn’t sure what was going to happen next.
“And I… uh… just… want to… um… be with you. Every day. You know?” He twiddles with his thumbs as he looked towards the ceiling.
Elise nods. Lei was clearly nervous. “Yes, yes. I want the same thing for us, too.” She was trying to calm his nerves down.
“Really? Yeah, yeah… of course… so… uh… Want to stay a little longer?”
“Why yes, Wulong. I would love to stay here with you in Hong-Kong.”
That gave Lei just enough confidence to say what he wants to say. “I mean… would you like to have this apartment as your new place of residence?”
“Elaborate, sweetie.”
“What I mean is, instead of going back to Poland, why not move in with me? I can make it work. For now. I mean, I know it’s smaller than your place, but I plan on going somewhere big_”
“It’s okay. I will adjust. As long as I am with you, that is all I ask for.”
Lei sighed with relief as he laid his head on the desk. “I was worried for a second that you wouldn’t like this dump I live in.”
“It is not a dump. It is your home. I get it that you are not a wealthy man, but home is home, regardless.”
Lei then finally looked up, staring intently into Elise’s eyes. “Will you be by my side when I fight this demon?”
Elise smiled. “Yes, Wulong, I will. I will always stand by your side. Even after we kill the Espelhar.”
He massages her hand. “Will you?”
“Yes. I will. Wulong, after the Espelhar is taken care of, can we get married?”
“So soon?”
“Yes. We have been through the ringer together… I wondered though, if you would be okay marrying me?”
“Are you proposing to me?” He chuckled, not sure what Elise was doing.
“Yes I am. So, do you want to marry me?” She waited for Lei's answer.
Lei sat there in silence, thinking over this. He wanted to marry Elise, eventually. He did. She is marriage-material, but he didn’t want her to end up like Maya. The fact that Elise is willing to marry him just made things a little bit easier. She was in it for the long-haul.
“Yes… I do, Elise. I'll marry you.”
“Good, now we can make wedding plans and arrangements.”
“I’d rather not.”
“Oh… no wedding?”
Lei nods. “Or make it a private wedding.”

Soon, Giorgio started crying. Echoes of a woman's voice came through the room. The windows darkened, and the mirrors shattered. "...Awww... I was hoping to torment you a little longer.." Anna's voice could be heard. "But this will do just fine..." The Espelhar then revealed itself in Anna's body. "Poor Elise... Lost her babies, and comes across a new one.. a Blessing from the gods..? I think not!" The demon then sent a fist to Elise's face...
It spun around. "It's true, that crying brat belongs to this pathetic vessel, but.... You need not worry about little Giorgio, as Anna wanted to call him... I will take the child from here..." It said, laughing.

Elise hung up, tried calling Anna, but nothing happened. Straight to voicemail. She couldn't believe it. Anna was dead.
However, Elise noticed that Lei drew out his gun so suddenly, as the baby was crying but left in the bassinet.
The two were shocked to find Anna. Lei knew that this was not Anna, but the Espelhar.
"Poor Elise... Lost her babies, and comes across a new one.. a Blessing from the gods..? I think not!"
Lei was irritated that Elise wasn't doing anything. She was just a deer caught in the headlights. She wouldn't react to the punch being thrown at her.
Lei quickly pushes Elise to the floor as he takes the punch, hitting a wall. Lei gets up, and puts his gun to the side.
Elise gets up, but hides behind Lei. He turns his head.
"Leave. Take Li-Mei and the baby with you. Now."
"It's true, that crying brat belongs to this pathetic vessel, but.... You need not worry about little Giorgio, as Anna wanted to call him... I will take the child from here..."
"Over my dead body!" He shouted.
