Katya and Daniel Valentine's Day Special
The pair were both alone at the Williams Estate. With Elise occupied with Anna and Sorin, Katya decided to hang out with Daniel. She was adjusting to her new life with her mother and her mother’s fiancé all the way out in Hong-Kong of all places. She really enjoyed staying in Poland and hanging out with the Williams family in Ireland. But now she’s so far away. But at least she’s here with Daniel, though. That’s really all that mattered.
“What’s it like in Hong-Kong?” Daniel asked Katya.
“It’s… interesting.” She couldn’t think of a word. She honestly had to think about this one.
“Any sights, foods, tourist attractions?”
“Well, there’s a place called the Kowloon Walled City Park. It’s a really cool place.”
“Maybe you should take me there.”
Katya smiles. “I will. It’s like some ancient Chinese fort. Lei said that this used to be the land of the lawless until it was eventually demolished and became a park. Really interesting stuff. History really intrigues me.”
“It does?”
“I like learning about how and where things came from. I have that natural curiosity that my mother has. My mother was always curious about the world around her and wondered why she was so different and so special. I have the same curiosity as well. I always wondered why I was so different and special, too. Mom named me after her grandmother Kaitlyn Chevenski, whose maiden name was Murphy, and she was Irish like you. Mom said that everyone called her Katya as a nickname.”
“Oh, so you’re Irish, too?”
“Mom said we had to be. Otherwise we would not have this rare and illusive mutation that is extremely common with the Irish. She said that she believes that this mutation came about due to the lack of Sunlight that Ireland had, and this lack of melanin allows the people to absorb more Vitamin D than people with more melanin.”
“That’s interesting. So it’s like there’s no sun in Ireland, and people need Vitamin D to survive, so their body just creates this gene that allows you to absorb Vitamin D better.”
Katya nods. “Keep in mind, this is before people had access to supplements and other food internationally. But isn’t that pretty cool? The only problem though… I get sunburned. A lot. That’s what I don’t like about Hong-Kong. However, the Devil Cells quickly repair the damaged skin the next day.”
“Well, if I’m Irish, why don’t I have red hair?”
“Well, you’re part Italian for one. You are also part English, so there’s that. Also this mutation is recessive and requires two carriers, or alleles, in order for this to activate. That means, somewhere along my grandfather’s lineage, someone had red hair. Isn’t it cool how genes work?”
“Yes, that is very cool. Are you going to become a scientist?”
Katya looked at her left hand and shook her head. “Honestly, I don’t know what I want to do. Until I get this cured, I won’t be able to live a normal life.”
Daniel watched as he could see Katya soon become tense. She was getting angry, as he saw black markings soon appear on her face.
“Katya! Calm down! Shhh… look… you’re fine just the way you are! It’s alright.”
Her eyes turn white, but Daniel grabbed her hands, holding them. “It’s okay… Katya… it’s okay… shhh…”
“My mother did this to me! I’ll make her pay!”
As a last ditch effort, Daniel leaned in, kissing Katya. The young woman was at first confused, but eventually kissed him back as her eyes went back to normal and the markings disappeared. After several minutes of this, the two eventually let go.
“Thank you.” Katya said to Daniel.
“I’m always here for you.”
Katya smiled and kisses Daniel on the cheek. “You’re the best.”
“Anytime, Katya.”
The two then snuggled up next to each other on the bed. They stayed silent, just listening to each other breathe and enjoying each other’s company. Katya and Daniel both really loved each other very much. Well, in their own, innocent child-like way.
“I’ll make it to Ireland, one day, Daniel. I promise.” Katya smiled.
“I know you will. Maybe I’ll come see you in Hong-Kong, too.”
“I love you, Daniel!” Katya blurted with no thought.
“Uh… I love you, too Katya.”
Katya smiled, kissing Daniel on his lips. “I can’t wait to one day live with you. You’re all I really need.”

Elise and Lei Valentine's Day Special
“ELISE!”
Elise immediately stopped what she was doing and rushed to the bedroom. Lei had been sitting upright, as he was clearly uncomfortable and in pain, as his leg was elevated under the sheets. Earlier that day, Elise decided to take Lei out for ice skating, since he was visiting Elise during her birthday. However, Lei tried to be a show-off and attempted to do a pirouette, only for it to end horribly as he twisted his right ankle. Obviously, Lei was embarrassed about the whole thing.
“Wulong, what is the matter?”
“I’m stuck in bed.”
Elise sighed as she placed both hands on her hips. “So, you screamed for me just so you can complain about being stuck in bed?”
“It’s boring.” Lei shrugged. “You don’t have TV in here. All you got is this little booklet here that I can’t read.” Lei picks up a notebook.
“It’s my notes.”
“Oh. I’m sorry.” Lei puts the book away. He then opens the drawer, as Elise’s face was red when Lei found an object that Elise did not want Lei to find. “Hmm… what the hell is this?”
“Uh… you don’t know what it is? Are you serious?”
Lei examined the object. “Looks like a giant tube of lipstick.”
The object buzzed when Lei twisted the cap. He drops it in shock as Elise quickly picked it up and turned it off before placing it back in the drawer.
“Please, do not go through my stuff, okay?”
“Well, I’m pretty much trapped here for three days.” Lei shrugged. “I mean, what am I to do?”
“You play a game on your cellphone.”
“Or… how about you just snuggle up next to me and tell me about that notebook of yours, and why you have a giant tube of lipstick that buzzes?”
Elise really couldn’t keep a straight face. “Wow.” She takes a seat in the bed next to Lei. “You really don’t know what that is. I’ll explain it to you.”
Lei leaned over as Elise whispered into his ears, as Lei became flustered. Elise then had Lei reach over to grab her notebook. She flips through several pages before finding a page.
“Now you see here, I often come up with my best ideas during the strangest of times.”
“Yeah, and usually it happens when you wake up or after you shower?”
Elise nods. “I presume you have those moments, too.”
“Indeed.”
“But I like to write it down so I don’t forget.”
“Clever. I should probably do that!”
Elise then points at the wall of text on the page.
“What is this?”
“A novel that I am writing. It’s a love story based on us.”
“What’s it about?”
“A beautiful young forensics investigator meets a young detective, and the two basically fall in love and have lots of sex.”
Lei blushed. “Um…”
“This is my first fictional work. You really inspire me, Wulong. This is why I am writing it.”
Elise then began reading what was on the page, as Lei listened. However, once Elise got to the third page, she noticed Lei snoring. He had fell asleep. Rather than jabbing him and poking him awake, she decided to let him rest. Resting is good if you have an injured ankle.
Elise then sneaks a light kiss, telling Lei goodnight as she shuts off the lights and made her way back to her study, taking the notebook with her. She had a few things worth writing down in her booklet.

The Suburban Cop – Pilot Episode
Cold Open
The scene begins with Lei reading a newspaper when Li-Mei runs in and gets Lei's attention.
“What’s up?”
The little girl was scared. “Spider, Baba!”
Lei smirked. “Hah, no problem.”
Lei was then lead to Li-Mei’s room where a big spider sat on her dresser. Lei takes out the news paper.
“Now, watch closely, this is how you take care of a spider.”
He smacks the creature only for it to run up his arm. Lei flinches and dances as he and Li-Mei both ran out of the room as Lei manages to get the spider off him.
“Okay, okay, look… I uh underestimated him.”
The spider was on the floor as Lei and Li-Mei both build a pillow fort on opposite sides of the spider. Lei had his arm out, ready to hit the spider with the newspaper as Li-Mei had her shoe out ready to throw it. A visibly pregnant Elise steps out.
“Wulong, honey what are you doing?”
Lei’s eyes widen as Elise steps towards him, as the spider disappears.
“Baba and I made a pillow fort! Want to join us, Mama Kris?”
“I’ll pass.” Elise said. “I got work to do.” She walks to the fridge.
The spider crawls towards Lei as he lets out a high-pitched shriek. “Fall back! We are routed! Retreat!”
Lei backs away as Li-Mei screams, watching as the spider crawls towards Lei. However, Elise casually picks up the spider and tosses it outside. Lei sighed with relief as he calmed down.
“Really Wulong? All over a lesser arachnid? Was any of this really necessary?”
“Honey that was a venomous spider.”
“Oh!”
Someone screaming could be heard in the background. Not too long after, a car crash could be heard. Finally a car alarm goes off. Lei sits there the whole time with a serious face, arms crossed as Elise had a horrified expression.
“I wasn’t married to you, I'd lock you up for reckless endangerment and involuntary manslaughter, well if that spider killed someone.”
“And since we’re married…”
“I'm placing you under house arrest!”
Title Sequence Here’s the story! Of a Super Cop He was bringing up three lovely kids All of them moved to America Because The Super Cop Was needed there…
It’s a story A scientist named Elise Who was busy with a single daughter of her own They were two women Living all together Yet they were all alone…
'Til one day the Super Cop met this lady They immediately connected and fell in love They soon had to form a family in the suburbs And that's how Lei became the Suburban Cop The Suburban Cop! The Suburban Cop! And that’s how Lei became the Suburban Cop!
Lei is in his cubicle filing paperwork when his assistant sits on his desk. Lei stops what he’s doing to look up at the young woman. She grabs the picture on the desk and takes a good look at it.
“Is this your family?”
Lei nods. “Yeah.”
“What are their names?”
Lei then takes the photograph as it was the entire group smiling. Lei stood up in the back row, with his hands on Elise’s shoulders as Li-Mei sat in her lap. Zakk stood next to Lei, and so did Katya, as Cheyenne was on her knees next to Elise.
“Well, that’s my wife, Elise. And well, she’s 5 months pregnant with twins now. She’s really huge now, unlike in this photograph.”
Lei paused when he realized what he said. He waves his hands in defense. “No, no, no! I didn’t mean it like that! I mean her baby bump is huge! Like she’s the size of a basketball now! Well, anyway, we've been married for almost a year now. There’s my seven-year-old daughter, Li-Mei from my last marriage. And there’s Cheyenne, my niece. She’s 17 and I have been taking care of her since she was eight. There’s Elise's 15-year-old daughter, Katya. And last but not least, Wanrei, my proud 20-year-old son from my first marriage. He calls himself Zakk with two K's because… it’s unique. He's in college now and occasionally pops in every now and then to see us.”
“Amazing family! You have quite the blended family here.”
“I know. With a lot of half-siblings and step-siblings, and step-parents…”
“Do they get along?”
“Well, for the most part, yes. Though Katya is a bit of a dork… gets that from her mother. Cheyenne is kind of an airhead. Wanrei is quiet. And Li-Mei is just an energetic little ball of fun.”
“That’s nice.”
Lei crosses his arms. “Elise would be what I call… my better half. Because well, she’s smarter than me. And she’s a scientist.”
“Interesting.”
Lei smiles. “I love her though. I can’t wait to see her when I get home!” He then looks at his watch. “Well, time for me to go home. I'd better go stop by the store before I get home.”
“How noble of you to go grocery shopping for your wife.”
“Me grocery shopping? No. I’m just killing time so my wife doesn’t get mad at me for showing up late.”
The young woman crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow at Lei’s comment.
~~~Cue Transition to the next scene~~~
Elise was on the table with a bunch of flowers in a huge square container that is used for lasagna. She is seen writing down her calculations as Li-Mei watches.
“Whachu’ doin'?” Li-Mei asks.
“I’m studying the behavior of mutations and how they spread in humans.”
“Oh cool! Why are you using flowers instead of monkeys?”
“Because flowers don’t throw feces at you when they get mad.”
The sound of a rumbling V-8 could be heard as not too long after, Lei walks in the door carrying brown bags as Li-Mei runs up to hug him. He hugs the girl before placing the bags on the table.
“I see you’re working on the X-Men.” Lei said to Elise. “So I got you some more flower seeds.”
“Did you get the right kind?”
“Yes.” He hands Elise the flower seeds.
“Good. And…”
Lei pulls out some food from the bag as he got the whole family Chinese takeout.
“I thought you were going to cook dinner tonight?”
“Well, that was the plan… but…” Lei cleared his throat as he crossed his arms. “It’s hard to cook beef and eggplant lasagna without a pan.”
“Okay, why not cook something else?”
“Because I already got the eggplants, tomato sauce, pasta, and we have a deer in our freezer.”
“And…”
“Baba is saying that you’re using his cooking pan!” Li-Mei blurted.
“Oh.” Elise looks at the tray. “Well, um… I can go buy you a new one.”
“Let Katya take you to the store. I think it’s about time we start teaching her to drive.”
Katya and Cheyenne soon showed up from the front door.
“Speak of the devil!”
“Ooh take out again! I thought we were going to eat like Chinese lasagna?” Cheyenne asks.
“Yeah, I was looking forward to eating it.”
Lei points at Elise’s experiment. “But have no worries, because Katya… you’re going to learn how to drive!”
The young teen’s eyes lit up. “Really? I get to drive your car, Dad?”
Lei shook his head. “Um… actually, no. You’re driving the Suburban!”
Katya then looked disappointed as Lei placed a hand on her shoulder, smiling brightly. “Isn’t it exciting?”
“Yeah…” Katya said quietly. She wasn’t looking forward to this.
“Back when I was a young lad, I didn’t have a car to drive…”
“Yes because you were in China. And back then, Chinese people didn’t own cars!” Cheyenne said.
“Exactly!” Lei raised up his index finger.
Katya and Cheyenne both prepared their dishes and sat on the couch as Elise made a plate for herself and Li-Mei. The door opened again as Zakk and Wilson both walked in the door. He was quickly disappointed when he found the Chinese takeout.
“Aww man, Pops? Are you bloody serious right now?”
“Zakk said that you make some bomb lasagna.” Wilson added.
Lei points at Elise’s experiment, causing the woman to be flustered.
“Wulong, honey, why didn’t you tell me that you needed this pan before I started the experiment?”
“Because I forgot to tell you.”
“Oh.”
“And I drove halfway across the state for this!” Zakk wailed.
The door opens again as Bryan Fury enters the room. Lei sighed. “Fury! What the_? What are you doing here?”
“I heard that you were going to make some Oriental lasagna.”
“Who invited you?”
“I thought I drop by.”
“Get out of my house before I arrest you for trespassing!”
“Not until you get me that lasagna!”
“Too bad! My wife is using my cooking pan for her hypothesis!”
“Thesis, Wulong!”
“Thesis!”
Bryan sighed. “Fine, I’m out.”
After Bryan left, Lei latched on six locks, and placed a knife in the door jam. “We really need to start looking our doors.” Lei said.
Then there was another knock on the door. Lei rolled his eyes and sighed. Cheyenne gets up from her couch to unlock everything to allow a handsome Asian guy inside.
“Hey. Where’s the lasagna?”
Lei stood up. “Hey! How dare you come into my house without introducing yourself!”
“Um… Hello Mr. Lei. I’m Mark Dao. Nice to meet you.”
He holds his hand out as Lei shook his hand violently. “Oh it’s a pleasure… Mark Dao.” Lei’s eyes narrowed as he glared at the young teen.
“Well, uh I got to go! Bye!”
Mark then leaves the house as Cheyenne looked on in embarrassment.
“Uncle Wulong, what was that for?”
“I was simply doing you a favor. Besides that, I would have arrested him for trespassing.”
“But I invited him in!”
“But I didn’t consent!”
“But I invited Mark!”
“And who pays the mortgage for the house?”
“I do!” Elise shouted from the living room.
Lei sighed. “Okay, point is, Elise is the owner of this house. And if she says no to Mark coming over, it’s trespassing!”
“Hey, Aunt Elise, can Mark come over on Monday night? We're going to study for our midterms.”
“Sure. I’m fine with that.”
“Honey, you’re ruining my point here! Besides that you made a vow that you would always be on my side!”
“No, I clearly said, by your side.”
“Same thing!”
Cheyenne returns to the couch as Lei locked the door again.
~~~Cue Transition to the next scene~~~
Elise and Lei were both sitting next to each other in the bed as Elise had her bedside lamp on, reading a book, as she let her baby bump support the book as she ran her index finger along the page. Lei sat up with his bedside lamp off, with his arms crossed.
“I don’t trust him.”
“You never trust anybody!”
“Of course I do! I trust people! I trust you!”
“I sure hope so.”
“Elise, honey, don’t be like that.”
“Name at least three people that you trust.”
Just as Lei was going to open his mouth to speak, Elise then interjected with, “Family and friends don’t count.” At which Lei closed his mouth.
The two were silent before Elise said something. “See? My point! Why don’t you just get to know Mark a little before you jump to conclusions? C'mon, what’s the worst that can possibly happen?”
“Mark isn’t actually a high school junior. He's secretly a 30-year-old man who works for the Triads and is trying to get close to Cheyenne so that the Triads can execute us.”
“Wulong…”
“You literally just asked me what was the worst that could possibly happen.”
“But Wulong...”
“Anyone ever notice how Hollywood always like cast 30-somethings to play teenagers in movies?”
“Wulong, listen, just come home early on Monday. Get to know Mark. Okay?”
Lei then smirked as a plan crossed his mind. “Yeah, I'll get to know him, alright!”
“Good. Now then, let me finish this book.”
Lei then got under the sheets and hugged Elise's abdomen, patting her.
“Goodnight my little ones.” He kisses the abdomen.
Satisfied, Lei then rolls over and falls asleep.
~~~Cue transition to next scene~~~
It was Saturday morning, and Lei was getting ready for work. As per usual, he lazily prepared coffee and cereal. Li-Mei got up as well, joining Lei at the dinner table. Lei then prepared her hot cocoa and her favorite cereal.
“You’re up bright and early.”
“Yeah! I want to catch the Saturday morning cartoons!”
“You know what they say? The early bird gets the worm.”
“And the early bird also gets to figure out what mystery Scooby and Shaggy get to solve this week!”
“That’s the spirit! Well, anyway, since you’re up and awake… I want to give you a secret mission.”
“Ooh!”
“Can I trust you, Li-Mei? My favorite daughter?”
“Yes!” She nods.
Lei smiled. “Good. Now… I need you to observe Cheyenne and Mark for me. Report anything unusual to me.”
“Alright!” She said.
“And make sure you split them up.”
“But isn’t that illegal?”
Lei shook his head. “It isn’t. No. I’m simply protecting my niece. So, with that cellphone I gave you, take pictures and send them to me, alright? Can I trust you, deputy Lei?” He tilts his head.
Li-Mei salutes. “Yes, sir! Scouts honor!”
“Good. I’m counting on you!” Lei saluted back.
~~~Cue transition to the next scene~~~
Elise and Katya were both in the tan leather interior of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban. Elise was in the passenger seat and Katya was in the driver’s seat. The garage door opened as Elise gave out instructions.
“Alright now, start the engine. And put the car in gear.”
Katya did as told. However the car started moving on its own. Katya panicked and slammed the brakes.
“It moves!”
“Yes. You put the car in drive. It moves regardless of whether or not the foot is on the gas. Go ahead and let go of the brakes.”
Katya did as told, and the car rolled out of the driveway. She then slams on the brakes just before the car got out in the road. Elise rubbed her belly. “Oh it is okay, we are experiencing a bit of a turbulence here. Everything will be fine. Just trying to teach your sister how to drive.”
Elise then took Katya’s hand and placed it over her abdomen. “Say hello to your sister!”
“Um, Mom, now is really not the time to have me start feeling up your babies. I’m operating a 6,000 lb object.” Katya said.
“They sure are pretty lively right now. Must be excited that their big sister is driving! Anyway, Katya, go tap the gas.”
Katya did as told, but the car flew forward and she slams the brakes again.
“No, Katya, you need to be gentle on your braking.”
“Okay.”
Katya then put some gas and steered the car, running over the curb.
“Luckily for you, this is an SUV. You can run over curbs just fine, but drive something like Wulong’s car over the curb, you will tear off a_”
THUNK!
“Katya! What did you just hit?”
“I have no clue…”
“Well, stop the car!”
Katya did as told and Elise hops out of the car, relieved to see that Katya ran over the neighbor’s bike. Katya was not pleased.
“Oh no!”
“That’ll teach that kid not to mess with my flowers!”
“Umm… okay…”
Elise stomped back in the car. “Now, then… looks like you’re getting the hang of it now. Now, time for you to make a turn. Go ahead. Turn right.”
Katya jerked the steering wheel, as Elise held on to the “Jesus Christ” bars as she could have sworn that the SUV was going to flip.
“You are never supposed to approach a curve at full speed when driving larger vehicles.”
Katya nodded.
The mother-daughter duo kept driving until eventually Katya drove too close to a barrier in the road, scraping the car against it. It made a loud noise as Katya scraped against the barrier. Elise instructed Katya to pull over when Elise noticed that the entire passenger side of the car had a huge scrape on it.
“Oh no!”
“I ruined the car!”
Elise shook her head. “We cannot let Wulong see this!”
“What are you going to do?”
“We take the car to the shop, and hope Wulong doesn’t notice!”
“That sounds like a plan.”
Elise then dialed the body shop.
~~~~Cue Transition to the next scene~~~~
Lei has been obsessively checking his phone as he waited for an update. His superior took notice of this.
“Detective Lei! What are you doing?”
“Detective work.”
“On your personal phone?”
“You know phones can pretty much do everything now, right?”
“Well, I mean are you investigating your case?”
“Yes. I think Cheyenne’s boyfriend is a suspect.”
“Why do you think that?”
“He just showed up in the middle of nowhere and said he was Cheyenne's boyfriend.”
“That’s normal.”
“Well, she should have warned me!”
“She’s a teenager. She probably thinks that you wouldn’t like him.”
“I would like him had I gotten the time to get to know him.”
“Lei, look, just let it go, okay?”
“AHAH! I knew it!”
“What?”
“He’s making out with my niece! Li-Mei, do you let me down! Do your thing! Block him like you always block me when I try to kiss my wife!”
“Um… okay then?”
~~~Cue transition to the next scene~~~
Li-Mei was in the living room as Cheyenne and Mark we’re kissing each other and making out. However, Li-Mei decided to get creative. She quickly jumps in between the two. She then raises her butt in the air and passes gas in Mark’s face.
“Whoopsie! That wasn’t lady-like.”
Mark and Cheyenne were both embarrassed. “Li-Mei! What the_ What is wrong with you? You know better than to fart in someone’s face.”
She crosses her arms. “I just had to let it out.”
Cheyenne sighed. “Would you please get off the couch?”
“But I want to watch a movie!”
Mark stood up. “I think I should get going.”
“No, Mark, wait! Don’t go!”
“See you, Monday, Cheyenne.”
Mark left as Li-Mei then texted Lei and did a dance before going back to her room. Cheyenne chased the girl, but she locked her door. She immediately calls Lei.
“Hello! You have been trying to call me! Well, I’m not on the phone right now. Please leave a message after the beep.”
“Uncle Wulong! Please! Li-Mei just ruined my date! Please call me when you get this message.”
However, Lei was on the other line with Li-Mei, congratulating her for a good work.
“You’ll be a Super Cop in no time!”
Elise then arrives in the driveway as Cheyenne steps out of the door.
“Oh Your God! Wow, Katya is a horrible driver.”
“Gee thanks for letting me know!” Katya wailed.
Elise then pulled in the garage, sighing. The three women step out to look at the damage.
“The bodyshop is booked for the week. Next week we can drop it off and fix the damage. But how do we hide it from Wulong?”
“Simple! Hide it in plain sight!”
“What do you mean?”
“Like don’t do anything!”
Elise shook her head. “Wulong is very anal about scratches.”
“Why not cover it up?” Katya suggested.
“Brilliant! Let’s cover it up!”
Elise then gets a car cover and covers the vehicle. Cheyenne and Katya helped, too.
“Uncle Wulong is going to notice.”
“Oh no he won’t!”
~~~Cue transition to the next scene~~~
The family, consisting of Lei, Elise, Katya, Cheyenne, and Li-Mei were all eating the eggplant lasagna dish that Lei prepared. The first thing that Lei said was, “So, Elise, is there any particular reason why the Suburban is covered? You know tomorrow is movie-night at the drive-in? Right?”
Elise realized that she completely forgot. “Um… well…”
“We didn’t want the rain to get in the paint.”
Lei raised an eyebrow. “Honey, it’s not going to rain for a few days… also it’s in the garage. So, what's really going on?”
“Uncle Wulong! Li-Mei was rude to Mark!”
Lei groaned. “Ugh! Li-Mei, in your room, now!”
Li-Mei slid off the table as Lei followed her. Elise and Katya sighed with relief.
“Well, what do we do now?”
“Uncle Wulong is going to be spanking Li-Mei. That will buy you some time. I suggest spray painting it.”
“That’s brilliant!”
Meanwhile, Lei was in Li-Mei’s room, giving her a high-five. “So, is he coming back?”
Li-Mei nods.
“Alright, so here’s the plan. Give him the wet-willy! Then give him a quick kick in the nuts. And then… fart in his face again!”
Li-Mei clapped.
“Now, pretend that you’re upset!”
Katya and Elise found a can of dark blue spray paint and sprayed the entire side of the car, but it actually made it worse.
“Now, what?”
Elise held her head, groaning. Lei then suddenly showed up.
“Elise, honey-bun, are you okay?”
Elise shook her head. “I need to lie down…”
“Want me to escort you to bed?”
“Yes, please.”
Katya was relieved that Elise distracted Lei as Cheyenne clucked as she shook her head. “Well, so much for that idea. Looks like you’re screwed.”
“What? This was your idea!”
“Yes. But I meant you actually go out and get the correct color. Now this car looks junky.”
“Looks junky. Ahah! What if we pretended this car got vandalized! Brilliant!”
Cheyenne shrugged.
~~~Cue to the next scene~~~
Lei and Elise were both in bed again. They both panted and heaved as they lay next to each other.
“Wow. I did not mean to do that.” Elise said.
“I didn’t even mean to do that!” Lei added.
“But we had fun. The twins certainly enjoyed it, too.”
“And I didn’t need to know that. But seriously, honey, did Katya wreck the Suburban?”
“No, sweetie. The Suburban is fine.”
“That’s good to know.” Lei smiled as he laid down and closed his eyes. “I’m off tomorrow. And I am going to give that Suburban a good wash and wax. It’s due for one, don’t you think, love? Hm?”
Elise’s eyes widened. She really had to figure out a good cover-up for the Suburban. Thankfully, Lei didn’t see her face. “Uh… yeah! You are right! Maybe I can help.”
“In your condition, no. But you can give me water and lemonade and some cuddles.”
~~~Cue transition to the next scene~~~
Elise got up early to go bug Katya. Lei was stirring in his sleep, but didn’t wake up.
“Listen! Wulong is going to wash the car today! We need to dump it in the river and say it got stolen!” Elise said. “Let’s go, now! Hurry!”
“I have a better idea! What if we just tell Dad that the car got vandalized?”
“Oh! Let’s park it in the ghetto!”
“Good idea!”
Elise then quickly grabbed Katya and heads outside. They get in the Suburban, park it a dilapidated area and shut it off, leaving the keys inside. Elise and Katya then order an Uber and eventually arrive back at the house. Elise hops back into the bed, as Lei then wraps his arms around Elise.
“I love you, Elise.”
Elise smiled. “I love you, too.”
Later on, Elise woke up to the sound of a frantic Lei.
“Elise! Honey! Someone stole the Suburban!”
Elise sat up. “What?”
“I have every cop checking the areas! It’s going to turn up soon!”
“Who would steal such a vehicle?”
“The Mexican Cartel! Wait. This is an inside job. Who would know that we have a 2003 Chevy Suburban? Ah yes! Bryan Fury! He tipped them off!”
Lei shot up running around the house. Elise sighed with relief. When the police recover the vehicle, Lei will assume that the car was vandalized and then Katya will not get in trouble.
~~~Several Hours Later~~~
Lei jumped for joy.
“Elise, honey, they found the car! Let’s go down and see it and drive it back!”
~~~Cue Transition to the next scene~~~
Elise and Lei were both holding hands as they walked down the impound lot. The twins kicked as Elise had a feeling of dread. The cop then stops in front of a stripped vehicle. Elise performed the Holy Cross as she whispered a prayer to herself.
“Well, so much for waxing and cleaning.” Lei said to Elise after examining the car.
“Is this the Suburban? What happened to it?”
“I kind of figured that this would happen.” Lei smiled. “You know, criminals who steal cars often dump them somewhere and strip them of parts.”
Lei then checked the interior, as the Suburban's doors were gone. All that remained were the interior, minus the DVD on the head rest and the DVD player itself. The front end, minus the hood remained as well. “Hmm… nobody broke into it. Strange isn’t it? It’s almost like someone already had the keys to the car and dumped it somewhere and stripped it.” Lei went and turned the key. “Still starts and drives.”
“Are you sure that this is the right vehicle?” Elise asked.
“Yes. The VIN matches.”
Elise groaned.
“Well, honey, what do you think we should do?” Lei asked, shutting off the vehicle.
“Umm…”
“It still runs and drives. We just need to get wheels for it. The insurance declared it a total loss and gave us a $3,000 payout. Now, if you want, we can buy it back for $1,200 and use the rest of the money to fix it.”
“Well…”
“Personally, as much fun it would be to fix it up again, I say we go ahead and take the $3,000 and use it to buy us a cheap-ass Chevy van. But what are your thoughts on this matter?”
Elise felt really guilty about this. She really was expecting to get the car back in one piece. She had no idea that someone would strip it in a matter of hours. She had to come clean.
“Wulong, honey, it’s my fault.”
“Why? Did you leave the doors unlocked? Left the key inside?”
“No. Wulong, I dumped the car.”
“Are you working for the chop-shop?”
“No, I mean I abandoned it.”
“Oh. If you hated the car, you could have sold it and gotten something else.”
“No! Wulong…I…” She protectively holds her abdomen, feeling the twins kicking. “Katya wrecked it! I did not want you to know, so I thought if I dumped it and you found it wrecked, you wouldn’t get mad!”
“Elise, honey, wow…” He runs his fingers through his hair. “All of that to hide damage? Are you serious? Honestly, I’m more angry that you made me believe that some hooligans wrecked the car! And Katya…”
Elise stepped back.
“I knew something happened to that car. Well, guess what? We’re not going to movie night!”
“Look I was afraid you would get mad at Katya for scraping the side of the car.”
“Elise, why do you think I bought the Suburban as our 'wedding' present? Because if the car gets damaged, parts are easy to find and replace. Of course Katya is going to scratch the car! I am just mad that you literally left it to get stripped! And now we don’t have a car large enough to fit the whole family. The Challenger? I can only fit you. The Yaris? I can only fit you, Li-Mei, and Katya. Not to mention, what about when the twins are born? The Suburban took care of everything.”
Elise nods. “I am sorry.”
“Apology accepted.” Lei smiled, kissing Elise on her forehead and hugged her.
“You’re not mad?”
“Well, life is too short for me to stay mad at my pregnant wife. Plus you’re pregnant. It really affects your brain.” He then places his hand over the belly and crouches to be eye-level with Elise’s navel. “Mama and Baba aren’t angry anymore. We are very happy and we love each other.” He kisses the belly.
“So what now, Wulong?”
“We buy a bigger car.” Lei smiled. “I’m gonna take the $3,000 and call it a day. C'mon, love. Let’s go buy a car just in time for movie night.”
“Sounds good to me.” Elise smiled. “Maybe we should invite Mark out.”
“Yeah… we should.”
Lei realized something. Cheyenne really liked Mark. She seems to be happy around him. After all, who is he to judge?
~~~Cue Transition to the next scene~~~
Everyone was getting ready for movie night as Lei walked over to Mark and Cheyenne. Lei grabs Mark's hand and shakes it.
“I'm sorry we got off on the wrong foot. Welcome to the family.”
“Wow, thanks Det. Lei. I really appreciate it.”
Lei winked. “No problem. You and Cheyenne can go together in your car.”
“Oh we can? Awesome!”
Lei smiles. “You kids go on ahead, but I need to talk to Cheyenne for a moment.”
“Okay, sir.”
Mark got in his car as Lei placed a hand on Cheyenne's shoulder. “Look, Cheyenne, let me apologise for my actions in the past few days. You see, I made Li-Mei sabotage everything. But you see… I realize that you are now becoming a woman. And I am not comfortable with that. And I realize that I shouldn’t get in the way of your happiness. Elise and I are very happy… you and Mark remind me of her and I. Point is, I am sorry, Mark is a great fellow, and you two have fun tonight.”
“Apology accepted. Thanks Uncle Wulong.” She hugs Lei.
“You’re welcome.”
Cheyenne got in the car with Mark, and Lei was left with Katya and Elise and Li-Mei. They got themselves a new car. A forest green 1999 Chevy Express family conversion van. Lei then got Li-Mei’s attention.
“Mark is a decent man. Well, done young detective. Also, now you are to give them space and let them do whatever.”
“Alright. So no wet willy?”
“Yes, just be nice and be respectful to Mark. He's a part of the family now.” Lei hugged Li-Mei. “Well, let’s go see a movie!”
“Yay!”
The family loaded up in the van and they took off. As they drove, Lei had a hand on Elise’s abdomen.
“We are one big, happy family, aren’t we?”
“We’re going to get much bigger soon.”
“Yes. I look forward to it.”

Elise Comes out of The Closet
Mature Content Warning! This one-shot contains lime, and discussion about sexuality. Proceed with caution!
Lei found himself in Poland during the Holidays. It was Elise’s birthday, and Lei wanted to celebrate it with her. He was invited up to her cottage. Elise had a nice house, a four-bedroom, two-bathroom two-story building with a basement. He wore some awful-looking Christmas sweater, with a pair of brown slacks and matching loafer with that Christmasy-green colored socks. He had been sitting next to the fireplace next to Elise, who had been reading a book. Lei didn’t mind the silence and liked to watch Elise read. In the meantime, Katya was watching videos on her tablet, as the parrot, Dmitri perched on her shoulder. The Christmas tree shone brightly in the corner, as Lei looked forward to spending Christmas with Elise again next year.
Lei rested his nose against Elise’s neck, breathing on her as he sighed with contentment. Elise giggled as Lei’s breath tickled her. He has his hand on Elise’s thigh, sliding up as he then moved his nose up to nip at Elise’s ear.
“Oh, stop it you… I can’t concentrate…” Elise wailed.
“Maybe that’s a good thing.” He whispered.
Lei slid his hand further up Elise’s thigh, causing the woman to let out a soft moan.
“Mmm… not in front of Katya.”
“Elise, let’s go to the study. I have something I would like to study with you...”
Elise set her book down, but before Lei could do anything else, the doorbell rang. Lei groaned at the interruption but offered to get the door. He got up from the couch and answered the door. It was a white-haired woman in a red blazer. Lei did not recognize the woman but figured she was Elise’s older sister, Natalia.
“Oh, and who might you be?” The woman asks.
“The name’s Lei. And I’m Elise’s boyfriend… you are…?” Lei tilted his head, wanting to get a name.
“Boyfriend? You’re her boyfriend!?” The woman sounded a little shocked.
Lei kind of figured that this was Natalia. Of course. She’s surprised that Elise is dating an Asian man. He rolled his eyes. “Yes. I'm her boyfriend.”
“Wow… I didn’t know that this was going to happen! This is amazing!”
Lei didn’t know why Natalia was making such a big deal out of this. As far as he knows, Elise had told him that the last time she was in a relationship with a man was about five years ago. Which was a long time ago. Lei remembered that he was single for six years before he finally started dating Pai. Most of those years were spent trying to move on from what had happened to Maya. He figured Elise probably spent some of those years trying to recover, as he is aware that Elise became a functional alcoholic after her termination from the Zaibatsu, before her addiction eventually consumed her life and caused her to spiral into depression and make a few attempts on her own life. Lei kind of figured Elise was very much single during that time. Had she been with someone, Elise probably would not have gone down the path to self-destruction. Having a significant other around to help you through the worst parts of life make life worth living.
Lei then deduced that Natalia is just amazed that Elise finally found herself a man after her alcoholism formerly consumed her life. “Well, I invited her out to dinner one night, and it just went from there.” He smiled.
Elise and Katya both appeared as Katya hugged her aunt, as Elise then took Lei’s hand. “Yes, Natalia. This is my boyfriend. I get it. I haven’t been dating much lately. Okay?” Elise winked, hoping her sister would get the hint as she was tempted to drag Lei out of here and take him up on his offer to go bang in the study before Natalia says something stupid.
Natalia then releases from Katya’s embrace. “Good for you two. You’re a cute couple. I like it.”
“They are kind of cute.” Katya agreed. “I like it when they hold hands and kiss.”
“So, Natalia, what brings you here to my humble abode?” Elise asked, leaning into Lei’s arm as she rested on his shoulder. “Wulong and I were kind of in the middle of something…”
"Oh, no, you're fine. I'm just glad to meet you." Lei smiled as Elise frowned.
“Well, I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas. Also, Nikolaj told me that you were seeing someone, and I just had to see that person for myself. Honestly, Lei… I automatically assumed that you were a girl.”
And whoop there it is. The truth is out there. Elise was too late. She hoped Lei was dense enough to not realize that Natalia just outed Elise in front of Lei before she was ready to tell him. She was waiting until they were at the point where they were fluid-bonded before she told him that she was bisexual.
“Well, as you can see, I am very clearly a man.” Lei replied.
Lei did eventually connect the dots. Elise wasn't lying when she told him her last relationship was with a man five years ago. Does this mean Elise is bisexual? So, during those five years, she was dating and having sex with women? Lei wondered... is he lady-like? He's got softer and longer hair than Elise. He's not hairy in the slightest. He does wear those traditional silk Chinese clothes, that westerners always mistake for a dress. He was a bit flexible, too. Did Elise think he was... trans, male to female? Either way, Lei was going to confront Elise on this later. He really hoped that she isn't suggesting that they have a threesome. Lei wanted Elise. Only. No other woman. And he wanted Elise to have only him. Lei's probably being greedy, but that's how he feels. All he knows is he needs to be more, "girly" if he wants to keep Elise from going after women.
Later on that evening, Elise noticed that Lei has been silent to her throughout the rest of the day and wondered if this was the end of their beautiful relationship. Elise hoped it wouldn't come to that. Lei laid in the bed as Elise sat by the dresser, brushing her hair. Elise stared at her reflection in the mirror as she sighed.
“So… you’re bisexual?” Lei finally said.
“Yes. I am…” Elise replied. “Very much so.”
“…Was I ever going to know?”
“Yes. You were.” This is good, Elise thought. He’s curious now and asking me questions.
“Which do you prefer?”
Elise turned around in her chair to face Lei. “Honestly… I like the sweet tender, sensual touch of a woman. And the hard, rough, raw energy of a man.”
Lei was confused by that. “What does this mean?”
“It means I like both. I appreciate the touch and the feminine energy of a woman. But I also enjoy the power and masculine energy of a man. I understand that it is a hard thing to grasp, but that is the beauty of being a bisexual. You learn to appreciate both sexes. As a scientist, I enjoy learning and experimenting with different partners and what kind of sex works best for me.”
“So this relationship? Is it another one of your experiments?”
She didn’t appreciate the tone that Lei gave her. Elise stood up and flailed her arms. “Yes it is… but not in the way you think! Look, I already fooled around and learned about what I want!”
“And what did you want?”
Elise joins Lei in the bed, kneeling next to him as she held his hands. “A fulfilling relationship with a partner. That provides me with both the security and benefits of a relationship, and a very willing and open-minded partner who will experiment with sex with me as we learn about each other’s bodies.”
“I see… And you don’t have a gender preference?”
“I would be lying if I said I didn’t. I lean more towards women, because the sex is better. But sometimes the relationships are dysfunctional. And it can be hard to initiate. However, I do enjoy men for them giving me a great connection. But the sex is boring.”
“Does sex with me bore you?”
“Occasionally. But that’s my own fault. I was really waiting on our relationship to progress further before we start spicing things up.”
“Are you talking about BDSM? Because I swear, I'm not into the whole hurting, choking, and whipping my partner thing! I’m sorry! If that’s what you want… I’m not the right guy…” Lei backed away as he released himself from Elise's hands.
Elise giggled. “Oh, that’s a form of BDSM. And that's not what I'm implying, sweetheart."
"Let me guess... you want us to open up our relationship?" Lei asked. "Look, I know... it works out for a lot hyper-sexual people like you... but I'm not into that kind of thing. I'm sorry."
Elise groaned as she crossed her arms. "Wulong, are you serious right now?"
"...No...?" He didn't meant to offend Elise.
"Why do you think I'm hyper-sexual?"
"You're bisexual..." Lei said. "Like, you need both."
Elise sighed as she rolled her eyes, placing her hand in her face. “I don’t NEED both. I'm just like you. I want to be with one person! I'm not interested in swinging or having a threesome, like my past partners were. It's like this. You find women other than me attractive. And DON'T YOU LIE... it's totally natural. But it's kind of like that. I find both men and women attractive. That's who I am. But you don't go around trying to bed every woman you find attractive. Instead, you decide to stay with me. It's the same concept.”
"So... this doesn't change anything?" Lei asked.
"No, Wulong. The only thing now is for you to decide. Can you handle being with a woman who is sexually attracted to both men and women? Or does this bother you?"
Lei paused for a moment before finally speaking. He needed to chose his words carefully. "You must understand… I have never dated a woman who was openly bisexual. So this is something that I need to adjust to.”
"I know. I was waiting for us to be fluid-bonded before we discussed this."
"FLUID-BONDED? WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?"
"It just means that we're having unprotected sex."
"....That's called trying to get pregnant..."
"It doesn't mean trying for a baby, Wulong. I can still take birth control and be fluid-bonded. Let me rephrase it. Fluid-bonded means we just have sex without a condom. We're exposed to our own fluids."
"Oh... okay? I get it. I did not know that was an actual term for that. I just thought that was called being married."
Lei is probably the most backwards-sounding man alive. Given that he was raised in a patriarchy-rich culture and society, she doesn't blame him for saying stupid things like that. Elise honestly couldn't help but snort-laugh. Lei was just so adorable. It gave her such a good-laugh. Reminded her of their first time having sex.
“Usually, if I’m in a relationship, I carry a few packets of condoms in my wallet. But I’m single… so I don’t carry them.”
"Well, that doesn't make sense. Shouldn't it be the other way around?"
"Why would I have condoms if I'm know I'm not having sex?"
"Oh. You're one of those people who only has sex inside a committed relationship!"
"Right. I forgot Westerners have sex outside relationships."
She had so much to teach this man. It was going to a fun journey that they will take together.
"I'm serious Elise... Okay... well, Pai and I weren't married, but then I went back to condoms after she got pregnant, because you know, we weren't trying to have a baby... tch. No wonder she left me." Lei muttered. "But still... what if I can’t satisfy you?”
“Do not worry about such things.” She smiled. “You satisfy me just as much as any other man or woman does.”
Lei smiled. “Glad to hear. I am willing to stand by you. Since you and I are on the same page everything will work out fine. Plus... what where you thinking of in terms of spicing things up." He holds Elise in an embrace.
"I was thinking about role-playing and introducing toys."
"Oh... So like... I use my handcuffs?"
"Yes! But that's not why I'm dating you, but it is a plus. Come now, we need to sleep. Christmas is tomorrow."

Elise Gets Into a Wreck (AU Oneshot – Based on a dream I had)
Lei heard on the radio of a vehicle matching the description of the car.
“Firefighters and paramedics on route. Driver appears to be unconscious.”
He really hoped that it wasn’t her. Since Lei was nearby, he decided to check the accident out, anyway. He must aid the driver. He arrives on the scene and spots a vehicle that had rolled over that was on the hillside. It was up in flames as Lei tried to get a good look at the car.
There it was: the 1974 Ford Maverick. It was a golden bronze color, now about to be rusted primer once the fire was done. Lei got closer as the police and fire fighters stood back.
He eventually slid down the hill and checked the burning car. And there she was.
Elise was hanging upside down. She was clearly unconscious as Lei noticed blood dripping from the side of her head. It looked like a side collision that resulted in Elise getting hit in the side of her head.
The fire fighters tried to pry the door open, but Elise was still trapped. The door was mangled as the firefighters couldn’t figure out how to save Elise. Lei reached out through the window to grab her hand.
“Elise, honey, we're going to get you out of here, okay?”
The fire began spreading as Lei noticed that the interior was melting. If they don’t get Elise out of there, she will die.
Driven by pure adrenaline and rage, Lei ripped the door off. He climbed into the fire and unbuckled the lap belt. Elise fell right in his arms. Lei was careful not to let her head hit anything. He carries her out of the burning vehicle and cradles her to his chest, keeping her head elevated. He makes the trot up the hill and places Elise on the stretcher. He checks the woman for injuries. Lei runs his fingers across her face, delicately touching her. She still had a pulse, and she was still breathing. But the side of her head was bleeding profusely. Lei took a bandage and applied pressure on the wound. Coincidentally, Lei had his hand on Elise’s cheek.
“Elise, I don’t know if you can hear me, but you're going to be okay!”
Paramedics shooed Lei away as they tended to the woman’s wounds. Lei offered to help the paramedics as he showed them his paramedic license. They allowed him to stay and assist the woman.
“When did you learn how to become a paramedic?”
“Well, after my partner died in a plane crash, I decided that I should learn first aid.” Lei said to the paramedics as he assisted them. “I’ve had enough dead people in my life. Plus, if I learn basic paramedic stuff, I will be able to save more lives.”
Eventually, after Elise was stabilized with tubes hooked up to her body, Lei asked to accompany them to the hospital. However, the paramedics soon noticed that Lei had suffered some burns. They recommended that he go to the hospital, too as well to get those checked out.
Elise came to after several hours. She sat up in the hospital bed, as she noticed Lei was in the bed next to hers. He, too, was a patient at the hospital. She wondered what had happened as she noticed that his right arm had a bandage over it, as well as some bandages on his right cheek, and a band-aid on his nose. Elise could barely remember what happened, but she knew Lei wasn’t involved at all… or was he?
“Wulong…”
Lei’s eyes perked open as he turned his head to look at Elise. “Elise…”
The two reached out for each other, but they were too far apart. The two then settled on not being able to hold each other’s hands. Lei stared at the blood-stained bandage that was wrapped around Elise’s head, but he was happy to see her fully conscious and alive.
“What happened to us?” She asked. “The last thing I remember is driving this car and then the gas pedal got stuck. Then I blacked out.”
“Hm?” Lei said. “So… you lost control of the car and went unconscious…”
“I was in a wreck?” Elise asked. “What about you? You weren’t in the car with me when I went unconscious!”
“Well, I got burned. I have second-degree burns on the right-side of my body.”
“Bleah! How did that happen?”
“I heard the report on the radio on a burning vehicle. It matched the description of the Maverick that you were driving, and well, I jumped down, and saved you. But I got burned.”
“You… saved me…?”
Lei nods. “The firefighters couldn’t get you out of that burning car. I had to come in and save you.”
“Burning car?” She looked on in confusion. It wasn’t the fact that Elise was trapped in a burning car. It was the fact that Lei was just so calm and casual about it. Well, Lei wasn’t a stranger to doing dangerous things like jumping out of an exploding building and trying to outrun a helicopter that was shooting him. So of course, saving someone from a burning car was just child’s play.
“Yeah… the car was on fire. You were inside, hanging upside down… and everything was melting… I was scared that you’d be melting, too.” He rubs the back of his head nervously.
“And you melted…”
“Some people are worth melting for.”
Elise smiled.
Suddenly the news report was on TV.
“The victim was driving the car, when she suddenly lost control, reach speeds of up to 150kmh (95mph). The vehicle eventually swerved off the hillside, hitting a tree upon its descent, and then rolling over until the car eventually ignited. She survived thanks to the daring efforts of the Super Cop.”
“Whoah! I don’t remember any of that!”
“Maybe you panicked and blacked out…” Lei scratches the back of his head. “Or did you hit your head on the car?”
“I didn’t… yeah you’re right. I got scared, and screamed, and I lost control of the car. I had an anxiety attack and blacked out. I really thought I was going to die. But you saved me, Wulong. And I thank you for it!”
“You’re welcome. I was just doing my job, honey.”
“Which one?”
Lei was going to answer, but he closed his mouth. Elise did have a valid point. What job was Lei doing to save Elise? Was it Lei the cop? Or was it Wulong her boyfriend?
“Well, I honestly would have done the same if it was an innocent civilian. So I guess it was just police work.” Lei said, finally answering Elise’s question.
“Oh.” Elise said, not expecting Lei’s answer. But he was honest, so Elise gave him the benefit of the doubt.
“But… I did stay by your side the whole time. That’s something I don’t do when I rescue civilians. I only do that for the people I love. Why else do you think we’re rooming together in the hospital?”
“Oh…” She said, in a different tone this time. “Do you think they’d let us cuddle under the sheets together?”
“I don’t know… maybe we’ll find out.” Lei shrugged as he slid off the bed, taking the IV that he was hooked up to with him, along with the heart monitor. He climbs in the small bed next to Elise, under the sheets. It was crowded, but it didn’t matter. As long as they were together… nothing else mattered. Lei was lucky that Elise was alive, and he was even luckier that he survived to be with her.
Soon, they saw photos of the burned car on TV as Elise grimaced.
“I didn’t look back at the fire after I saved you. I guess it probably started burning even more after I saved you. I got you out of there just in time…” He said, stroking her hair. “How about we don’t think about this and just enjoy this uninterrupted peaceful moment that we have together.”
Elise nods. “Yes. I agree. I think I should go back to sleep.”
“Ditto.”
Later on that week, after the couple recovered from their injuries, Lei ran an investigation onto the Maverick that Elise was driving. He and a team of forensics were examining the burned vehicle, looking for signs of tampering and sabotage. However, the investigators noticed that the spring locks that controlled the gas pedal was broken. He also noted that the automatic gear box was stuck, too. Lei then flipped through his notes.
“Dr. Kristovitch said that her car had been acting quite strange after she had it tuned up.” Lei said to the investigators.
“Do you think perhaps the mechanics at the shop might have accidentally messed up her car?”
“Perhaps.” Lei said. Though he was very much relieved as that meant that this isn’t Triad-related. Though if it were, Lei probably would have gotten a message. But he didn’t get anything.
“Officer Lau also reported that she had confided him prior to the accident that the accelerator was sticky.”
“So… I guess we should go see the mechanic.” Lei suggested.
Lei then arrived at the mechanic shop where Elise’s car was tuned up. He asks to speak with the man in charge, and Lei was lead in the back room to meet him. He shakes the man’s hand and later shows him his badge.
“I’m Detective Lei Wulong. I’m here to investigate what had happened to Dr. Kristovitch’s car.”
“Oh. Yeah… I heard about that in the news.” The mechanic admitted. “It was very unfortunate. But I’m glad she’s okay.”
“Well, according to her, her car was last serviced here before this happened.” Lei had his hands in his pockets.
“Yes. It was.”
“Do you think one of your mechanics might have… forgotten to put a piece back on?”
“Well, those Mavericks are very delicate cars. One wrong move, and the next thing you know… the car will go off. Unfortunately, Ford never issued a recall for those vehicles.”
“But they did for the Pinto.”
“It was the 70’s. Times were different back then.”
Lei nods, barely remembering that decade. He noticed that the man didn’t directly answer his question. Lei was beginning to suspect foul play. “And if they’re so delicate… why not send it to someone who specializes in fixing those cars?”
“Every car is delicate, Detective. Even that Golf out there… one wrong move and its finished.”
Lei took that as a threat. He made note to not drive that car. He was beginning to suspect that this is foul play. But why target Elise? Do they know? Lei tried to keep their relationship hidden from the public eye and his enemies, but… of course it’s hard to resist the urge to hold hands in public.
“Yeah. Though I imagine someone so reckless doesn’t work for you, do they?” Lei asked.
“Of course not.”
“Good.” Lei said. “Mind if I talk to the man who worked on her car?”
“Of course, Detective, anything. Sure, right this way.”
Lei stood up as the manager then gestured Lei to walk to the back of the shop. However, Lei quickly caught the man’s wrist, forcing him to drop the monkey wrench that he planned on knocking Lei out with. Lei then turned his head, maintaining that tight grip on his wrist.
“This is like the oldest trick in the book.” Lei said. “Did you really think that was going to work?”
The manager trembled in fear. He’s heard rumors and stories about the Super Cop. He honestly didn’t believe the legend for himself until now.
“Now, I’ve got three options for you. Number one, you tell me everything you know, and we forget this happened. Number two, you don’t tell me everything you know, and I arrest you for attempted battery on an officer while on duty. Probably add attempted vehicular homicide to the long list of charges, as so to make sure you end up in jail for a long time. Or number three, I’ll make it easier on you, and knock you out and haul your ass to jail. So, what’s it going to be?”
The criminal threw a roundhouse at Lei, who quickly ducked, causing the man to be free. The man then picks up the monkey wrench, blindly swinging it as Lei dodged it with ease. Lei then jumps on the office chair, and quickly sends in a pair of twin kicks at his opponent’s face. The man was stunned, just long enough for Lei to jump in and send in a dragon strike to the man’s jaw, knocking him out instantly. Lei then handcuffs the perp.
“Looks like you chose option three.” He then grabs his walkie-talkie. “Dispatch. This is Detective Lei Wulong. 10-31. 10-32. 10-35. 10-31, 10-32, 10-35.”
Lei then set the cuffed perp in his chair, setting him up neatly so it looked like he was asleep. He delicately patted him. “Don’t go anywhere. I’ll be back.”
Lei continued onto the garage. Unfortunately, he only had one set of handcuffs. But it was fine. He just ordered back up. They will arrive soon. He quietly makes his way to the back of the shop, looking for suspicious activity. However, he can’t go in there dressed as he is.
Lei finds a uniform, and quickly changes into it. He manages to tuck all of his hair inside a cap, as well as a pair of glasses as he returns to the men working on the cars. Lei couldn’t find anything illegal going on, as far as his eyes could see. Just a few men working on some cars. Nothing wrong.
“Lupo! What are you doing here? Today’s your day off!” One of the mechanics exclaimed.
“Well… it got boring. So I came here to work…” Lei said in a gravel voice.
“Of course. Did the boss say it was okay?”
“Yeah. He did. I need the overtime, anyway.” He coughed a little.
“You might want to lay off on the smoking. It’s starting to take a toll on your health.”
“Tch. It will take those years off my life where I have to wear diapers! I’d rather die young than to live forever and suffer old age.”
The mechanic shrugged. “Yeah… you do have a point.”
Lei continued, as he was walking around, trying to figure out who sabotaged Elise’s car and why. He quietly began to assist a mechanic and worked on a car. However, he soon overheard a conversation.
“Did you hear? That Gwailou is still alive!”
Lei pretended not to listen.
“Yeah! The Super Cop got her out of there before she roasted into a barbecue!”
“Oh.. man… Boss is going to be pissed! I just hope he doesn’t come for me.”
So… this guy was coerced into sabotaging Elise’s car! I knew it! Lei wondered who the boss is.
“If I were you, I’d pack your bags and leave. The evidence points straight to you.”
“And the Super Cop is going to shut us down!”
Lei could tell that these men were scared. These poor men, they were only just doing their job. Trying to survive. They didn’t want jail time. This made his blood boil. All the more reason why Lei absolutely despises crime bosses. After Lei got all the intel that he needed, he exited out the back, waiting for his back-up to arrive. Lei then quickly got undressed out of the jumpsuit and put back on his shoes.
“So, you’ve figured it out.”
Lei jumped at the sound of the familiar American accent. He turned his head and noticed Bryan Fury stepping from the shadows in the alley. He had been smoking a cigarette, as Lei got into his fighting stance.
“Now, now, partner, there’s not need for you to raise your fists. We don’t have to fight all the time, you know?”
“You did this. You tried to kill Elise!”
“Guilty as charged.” Bryan shrugged. “I’m a very jealous man. You know that.” He rolled his head, popping his neck.
Lei didn’t relax his posture at all. “You didn’t have to harm her to get my attention, you know? Better yet, why did you get these innocent people to do your bidding?”
“Because it’s fun. What other reason is there?”
Lei had to keep telling himself that his partner is dead. And this man is just a cybernetic organism, living tissue over metal endoskeleton. But a part of him thinks that this is really Detective Fury. After all, killing him was just the beginning of his madness. “Of course. I should have expected as much.” He tightened his fist.
“So, I guess we’re going to fight then, huh?” Bryan tossed his cigarette to the side.
The two men’s breaths were in sync as the two were both ready for battle. Lei couldn’t help but remember this feeling that something was very familiar about this. He recalls himself and Bryan sparring against each other at the police station at the training grounds with a few audiences.
“Alright you two. Go ahead! Fight!”
The two charged at each other, as if they were both remembering the exact same thing. The pair threw a flurry of punches, strikes and kicks. The two blocked, dodged, took a few hits, and continued their exchange.
Lei remembers managing to do several punches at Bryan, followed by a kick, to push Bryan back. Lei then recalls doing a sweep kick at Bryan, who quickly jumped over and attempted to hit Lei with his Orbital Heel. Lei had managed to evade that move, rolling over as he kicks Bryan in the chest.
Bryan hissed in agony as Lei quickly got up and sent in several punches to the side of his head. Bryan catches Lei’s fist, and sends in a Mach Punch to Lei’s gut. It stunned him momentarily, for Lei to get hit in the jaw by his knee. Lei falls to the ground, but quickly gets up and sends in a palmed attack to Bryan’s gut.
Lei recalls Bryan charging forward with a few punches and kicks. Lei remembers dodging everything and hitting Bryan square in the temple with a “panther fist”.
Bryan staggered back, swaying just in time to avoid Lei’s Tornado Kicks. He kept dodging all of Lei’s colorful Kung-Fu kicks before he finally found an opening. He performs a roundhouse kick, knocking Lei off his feet. Lei was sent flying, rolling down the alleyway as his opponent approached him. Thanks to his cybernetic enhancements, Bryan hit Lei like a truck. Well, more like a helicopter, since Lei was hit by a helicopter and they hit much harder than a truck. Bryan approaches Lei, just about to send in a devastating punch to his gut. Lei rolled backwards, quickly getting on his feet into Tiger Stance. Lei does a jumping kick, as Bryan dodges him. Lei then uses the momentum, to land in Sitting Snake and sweep kick Bryan, who once more avoids him.
Lei has a flashback for a moment where he remembers performing that maneuver, as Bryan tries to sweep him, but Lei simply hops over him with a Comet Kick, stunning Bryan as he then follows up with his second kick.
Bryan arises as Lei then gets into Drunken Master stance, moving and hitting and punching like a drunkard as Bryan tries to fight Lei. Eventually, Lei sends in a powerful clawed strike at Bryan, leaving a cut. Bryan smiled in satisfaction as he rewarded Lei with an elbow to his jaw, followed by a powerful kick to his gut that sent Lei flying back. He collides with the dumpster upon impact.
Lei regains his composure, once more having a vivid memory of their fight. Bryan had the upper-hand as Lei was on the defensive, blocking every attack Bryan threw at him, and himself eventually getting hit. However, Lei sent in a sweep kick that knocked Bryan off balance. Thus gaining Lei the upper-hand once more.
It was almost like a dance at this point, the two rhythmically throwing out punches, kicks, elbows, knees, and stance changes. Lei and Bryan used to spar with each other a whole lot back in the day, so it made sense that the two knew how they fought. Bryan has his cybernetic enhancements, while Lei only had his memory alone to fight his opponent.
He gets hit by Bryan’s Gravity Brain Buster, causing Lei to focus his attention back on the fight. Bryan then does a double knee strike at Lei’s chin, and finally ducks to uppercut Lei with a Fisherman’s Slam. It left a crater in the ground upon impact as Lei could have sworn his back was shattered.
With all the odds stacked against him, Lei remembered Bryan lunging towards him to finish him of, but Lei quickly sent in a rising kick to Bryan’s chin. He then does a spinning side kick, knocking Bryan back. That was the decisive blow that ended their sparring match. Lei was the clear winner in that match as Bryan was done. He panted and sweat as Lei stood over him, offering a helping hand as he smiled.
“Looks like Lei wins!” The referee said out loud as everyone cheered.
Pai smiled, clapping. “I knew Wulong would win! He’s strong!”
Of course, that didn’t really happen in their fight as Bryan and Lei weren’t having a friendly spar. It was a fight to the death. The two charged at each other with Lei finally finishing Bryan off with a snake strike to his chest. Bryan falls forward, collapsing as Lei still retained his stance. Detecting something wrong with his circuits, Bryan quickly left the scene as Lei fell to his knees, clutching the knife that was lodged into his gut. It appeared that Bryan made sure to take him down with him.
The police arrived arresting everyone as Lei groaned. “It was all just a set-up.” Lei admitted.
“A set-up?”
“Yes. It was all just a plot to ensure repeat business.” Lei hated lying. He was trying to protect Elise by not revealing from onlookers that the woman was his girlfriend. Nobody would believe him if the truth was that Bryan only did this to lure Lei out for a fight. Plus, he took pity on the mechanics. “But nobody expected it to turn fatal.”
As if a prison would ever hold Bryan. The only thing Lei could do right now is shut that cyborg. After all, he owes it to Bryan… despite his shortcomings, his partner and friend deserved peace.
“What about that knife?” A paramedic asked Lei. “Who did this to you?”
“A ruffian that I failed to apprehend. But we’ll get him next time.”

My Brother's Keeper
“Again!”
Zhaolong had been in the garden in the backyard of the estate, training his only son, Fulong, Kung-Fu. He’s been training the young boy since he was seven, but he could tell that his heart just wasn’t in it. He never responded with enthusiasm and excitement as he used to in his youth. Zhaolong wondered if it was puberty. After all, Fulong was now 12 years old. He's almost a teenager. Zhaolong then wondered if the boy was starting to chase after the fairer sex.
“Again!”
“Is Mama okay?” He asked suddenly as he stopped the training.
“Of course she’s fine. She’s tough.”
Minghua had been on bedrest for five whole months now. She was pregnant with another child, but this pregnancy lasted a whole lot longer than most pregnancies. Doctors wondered if she miscarried and her body wasn’t ready to purge the baby. Minghua had literally been pregnant for a year now and her baby was 4 months overdue.
“Mama looks like she’s about to explode.”
“Your younger sibling isn’t ready to meet us just yet. The child still needs more time.”
Fulong nodded. “I hope to meet the baby soon.”
“You will, my son… you will. I can sense it. Can you?”
“Mama’s in distress! Can you feel it?”
Zhaolong then noticed that the wind changed and the birds stopped chirping. He sensed what his son was sensing. Minghua, his wife, was in distress. Zhaolong and Fulong both immediately ran back in the house and saw Ming Hua. She was laying in bed, clutching her abdomen.
“It’s time.” She said.
“Okay! You sure?” Zhaolong asked his wife.
“Yes… I feel it...”
“I’ll get the ambulance!”
Just as Zhaolong was going to run to grab the phone, Minghua gently grabbed her husband's arm and smiled at him. “The baby wants to be born here at home.”
Fulong stood and watched.
“You and Fulong must deliver this baby. It is the way it must be.”
“Are you sure?” Zhaolong asked his wife.
“It will give him the will to live.”
Zhaolong nodded and turned to his son. “Okay, now… we're going to be delivering the baby…”
“Deliver?”
“Yes. I need you to watch. Tell me when she’s crowning. Then you're going to help pull the baby out.”
Fulong nods.
“And then I will cut the cord.”
Fulong nods.
Zhaolong then removes the covers as the family tried to deliver the baby. Minghua struggled to get the baby out. But thankfully, Fulong reached in, grabbing the infant’s head and pulled him out. The baby was very large. He had a very large volume of thick black hair and a lot of fat. Fulong grabbed a towel and held the child in his arms. He rocks the child as he cries. Zhaolong grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the cord as he used his wife's hairclip to hold the cord. Minghua gave her husband and son a weak smile as Fulong handed her the baby that was wrapped up in towels. The family all surrounded the two as the boy looked around with his dark eyes.
“Minghua, this is our son, Lei Wulong.”
Minghua smiled. “My beautiful son, Wulong… I am happy to have met you.”
The baby cooed in response.
Zhaolong then dragged his son away to give his wife and newborn son some time alone to bond. He sits his son down and prepares the tea.
“Wulong is your brother. You are now responsible for his life.”
“Yes…”
“You must teach him our ways. Guide him to the correct path to his destiny.”
Fulong nods.
“I have seen your futures. Together, you two will restore our clan to its former glory! But you must care for your brother. He will need your wisdom and guidance.”
“Won’t you be able to teach him things, too?”
“Yes, but he’s your brother. He’s going to listen to you more. Besides, I might not be alive much longer. So you must guide him in my absence.”
“But Baba! You can’t die yet!”
Zhaolong sips his tea. “It’s my fate. I accept it. It is the way of the Lei. Our fate is to die in battle. As it always has been.”
“But what if I don’t become a police officer?”
“And become a soldier instead?”
“No, I mean… I have been thinking… I like building things. I enjoy building birdhouses. And I love looking at houses and villages… What if I start my own business and build houses?” Fulong said enthusiastically.
“But your sworn duty is to protect China!”
“Houses provide shelter and protection for the people. Without houses there will be no China.”
“You do raise a good point.” Zhaolong admitted. “However, that blood that you have in your veins is a total waste. We were all born and raised to be warriors.”
“But didn’t the clan lose their purpose following the Chinese Revolution? When the Emperor fell?”
“Yes. And the rape of Nanking soon followed as punishment for our failure to protect the Emperor. But if we produce a clan of police officers, that will restore the clan to its former glory. That is your brother's destiny. He will one day restore our clan and we shall have many descendants.”
“Or… perhaps we can forge our own destiny. Think of the Rape of Nanking as a reset. With no emperor and our ancestral home destroyed, we can start fresh and choose our own path.”
Zhaolong nodded. “I see. Perhaps that is fate, too. While yes, that may be true, but we must honor our fallen ancestors. Perhaps Wulong shall become a police officer as I am. That is his destiny.”
“Isn’t it too soon to determine his destiny?”
“Correct you are. One’s destiny is determined by fate. Fate guides you to your destiny, and whatever happens will alter one’s destiny. I sense that something huge may happen. And I need you to guide Wulong in my absence.”
Fulong nods in understanding. “Yes, Father. I will do my best.”
The family soon adjusted to the new bundle of joy, though it took them a few months. The baby would cry all the time, as everyone’s sleep suffered. However, Minghua had noticed that baby Wulong hasn’t been crying as much. She looked to her husband who was lying down in bed next to her, barely awake.
“You notice Wulong is sleeping through the night now, isn’t he?”
“He’s shaping up to be a strong man, now.” Zhaolong said proudly.
However, Fulong had been in the nursery, standing by the crib as he read a story to the baby Wulong who was very engaged as he giggled and cooed.
“And so the big bad wolf fell into the chimney, and then he was roasted and the pig ate him! The end!”
The baby cooed and flailed his arms around, squeezing his hands as he sat up.
“Look, Little Wulong. I’m sorry. That’s all. Okay? You should probably go back to sleep, okay?”
Fulong then reached in the crib and cradled the baby, rocking him as he hummed a lullaby before the baby went to sleep. Fulong then placed him back in the crib and turned off the lights as he left to go into his bedroom. After all, this was his destiny. Fulong must look after his little brother and ensure that he grows up to be strong like their father. Before finally leaving the nursery, he turned his head to look back at his brother’s crib. “I will be the one to protect you, Little Wulong. Not Baba. I, your Elder Brother Fulong. As long as I am around, no harm will come onto you.”
This was a promise. Fulong tried his best, but in the end, Wulong’s fate was sealed. He couldn’t protect his brother from following the same path that his father took that lead to his devasting and untimely demise.
The elder Chinese man sighed, running his fingers through his hair, as he thought about his brother and everything he’s tried to keep him away from police work. But in the end, it made his brother happy, and it was as their father had prophesied. But Wulong seems very happy. Much happier than he was when he was under his roof. And he had a few kids of his own, and a wonderful family. Though Wulong is old enough to fend for himself, Fulong finds that now his role is to offer sound advice and protect his brother from the darkness that lies within him.

Lei Teaches Elise How To Care of Giorgio
After gathering supplies for the baby that was provided by the hospital and Interpol, as well as having to go shopping. Lei’s superior instructed Lei to finish up his vacation days, but he can work with Elise on finding out about the child's parents. He is also on call in case he was needed. Lei honestly wanted to go back to work. He really needed to work. Instead, he's stuck babysitting some infant and his formerly pregnant and super emotional girlfriend. He honestly couldn’t deal with this right now. Perhaps Lei needed to stay and calm Elise down. He honestly needed time to himself to process what had happened so he could help get himself and Elise through this mess. However, taking care of this strange baby seems to be doing a good job distracting Elise long enough for Lei to come up with a solution.
It wasn’t long before Felix started crying. Elise frantically looked around and found Lei lying down on the couch, sleeping.
“Wulong! Hey!” Elise snaps her fingers, trying to get Lei’s attention.
Lei groaned as he rolled over, his back facing Elise.
“I swear! Is this the kind of dad you’re going to be when we have kids!?” Elise shouted with her hands on her hips. “You’re just going to lie around and nap and sleep while I get stuck having to take care of the baby!”
“Isn’t that what you wanted?”
“It was assumed that WE were going to share responsibility of the child! I thought you were different, Wulong!”
“But Felix isn’t my child.”
Elise then pulled Lei by his ponytail, yanking him off the couch. Lei fell off and landed on his butt. He groaned as he rubbed the back of his head, sitting up. “Ugh. Elise… What the hell?”
“Felix is crying! And I don’t know why!”
Lei then stood to his full height in one swift motion. It amazed Elise how quickly Lei can get on his feet. “Did you change his diaper?”
“I tried… but I have no idea how to put it on.”
Lei gave Elise a ‘are you serious?’ look.
“Well, you’re going to have to show me how to do it, unless, you’re an absentee parent who didn’t bother to change his own children’s diapers.”
“To think… you were going to be a mother…” Lei sighed.
“HEY! That hurts! I NEVER HAD KIDS BEFORE! How am I supposed to know how to change diapers?”
“Common sense?” Lei asked, as Elise lead him to where Felix was crying. He noticed that there was poop all over the table, oddly enough none got on Elise at all, unless she cleaned herself.
“I have never had to care for an infant before.” Elise replied.
Lei then grabbed the diaper that Elise had opened. He began cleaning the baby’s bottom, and the baby soon began to giggle as Lei then showed Elise how to change the diaper. The crying stopped as the baby was as happy as can be. He tossed and played with the baby, entertaining him for a little bit before placing him in the Interpol-provided bassinet. She smiled, watching Lei interact with the infant.
“Babies are tiny, defenseless, helpless humans. You have to do everything for them. That includes entertainment.” Lei continued playing with the baby, making funny faces at it.
“Yes, I’m well aware of that. I just didn’t know how to change the diaper.”
“It just amazes me you don’t know basic infant care. You must have had a sad and lonely life… Did you ever babysit an infant?”
Elise shook her head. “None of the scientists really had me babysit their babies. I did babysit Sorin and I did get to babysit Helena’s son, but they weren’t babies.”
“I see.” Lei then began cleaning up the mess that Elise made on the table-top, as Elise immediately jumped in and helped Lei. Within moments the table was totally cleaned, as the couple of course, quickly cleaned themselves afterwards.
Elise watched Lei show her how to bundle the child up and how to properly swaddle a baby. Lei sits at the recliner, rocking it as he was showing Elise how to put the baby to sleep.
“You know, Pai could never get Li-Mei to fall asleep. I always could get that little girl to sleep. I suppose since she was a baby, she has always preferred me.”
Felix blinked slowly, relaxed and content to feel Lei’s breathing and heartbeat, as well as the warmth of his body.
Elise watched and listened as Lei sang some Chinese lullaby before Felix eventually drifted off to sleep.
“Ya’ know Elise, my mother use to sing this song to me when I was a baby.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. My brother told me that I was a very fussy little toddler. And my mother would sing me this song that was in ancient Chinese dialect and it would put me right to sleep…”
Elise noticed that Lei usually doesn’t talk much about his upbringing. From what Elise knows, Lei was pretty much juggling from foster homes and orphanages until his brother regained custody of Lei. Then he went through Martial Arts training and had his body completely molded and shaped in order to fight effectively. On top of that, he was pushed to study hard in school and often made top marks. Lei was a very busy kid and he didn’t have time to coax a girl into giving up her virginity like the guy Elise lost her virginity to as a teen.
“Interesting.”
“I’m sure that your mom did the same thing, too. Though, I should teach you this song.”
“I will try my best.”
Elise has been curious about Lei's mother. She wanted to know how she cooked and how she coddled Lei so she can surprise Lei with that hospitality one day.
“It’s a poem that belongs to my clan.”
“Ooh.”
“It’s a custom. The mother sings it to her children. If the child is a boy, the father teaches it to the son. So that way the son could teach it to his wife during their honeymoon.”
“Ooh… so are you proposing to me?”
Lei just realized what he said. “Um… well… I mean um… not really. Just telling you about the family tradition.”
“How about we honor it and you teach me this song on our honeymoon?”
“Good idea.”
Lei then stood up and showed Elise how to gently put the baby in bed once he’s asleep. Felix stirred a little but eventually settled into his sleeping position. “There you go. He’s all tuckered out and asleep.”
Elise had a mix of emotions right now. She was very elated that she and Lei were both cooperating and doing things together. And just being around Lei just makes Elise happy. It could be the “pleasant aura” that he gives off, the way Lei puts it. Elise just chalks it up to Lei just being a fun and pleasant person to be around. On the other hand, she felt saddened as if they find out that Felix has family, they will have to give him up. Elise would have to return to Poland and deal with her misery alone. It’s funny, earlier, Elise wasn’t looking forward to having a baby. Now, she wishes that she and Lei could have a baby together and start a family with him.
“Do you think I would have been a good mother?”
“Yes, of course!”
“Are you sure? I didn’t know how to change the diaper and put him to sleep.”
“That isn’t an indicator of poor parenting. Parenting is all about the heart. Trust me, once you have a child, you’ll know exactly what to do.”
“Are you sure?”
“It’s basic instinct. Besides that, you knew when Felix was crying that he wanted food. You knew exactly what to do and how to take care of him and what he needed. Not to mention, giving him your undivided attention. Elise, you've got this mothering thing down-pat.”
“I do?”
“Of course, my love.”
Lei held Elise in an embrace and kisses the top of her head. He held her tightly as though his life depended on it.
Elise squeezed Lei’s arm, acknowledging him. She had her eyes closed, enjoying his warm embrace.
“I would like it very much if you could join me for a nap.” Lei whispered seductively in Elise’s ear before he nibbles it, generating an audible moan from the woman.
“What about the baby?”
“He’ll wake us both up. Here, let’s just move him to the bedroom then.”
Lei releases himself from Elise as he gently slides the bassinet across the floors and all the way to the bedroom. Lei then lifts the blankets up to climb into bed as Elise then soon followed.
She was feeling tired and weak. She snuggled up to Lei as he wrapped his arms around the woman and quickly fell asleep. She stayed awake for a little bit. Everything about this felt just right. This was the way it was meant to be. The two of them, lying down together in each other’s arms after tending to a baby. Eventually, Elise fell asleep, just content to finally be in Lei’s arms again.

Context: This is an old fic that I wrote for highschool back in 2011. It's a homework assignment and we had to write an essay about controversial topics and write about why our point of view is correct. Back then, I was a pro-lifer (still am, but I do think women should be allowed to abort) and my views were greatly expressed in this fic. So, I asked the teacher if I can write a story instead, since I almost flunked out of middle school because I CAN'T WRITE A GOOD ESSAY! So my teacher let me do it. And I got an A+.
But yes, ONLY 30 minutes to write a 5-paragraph essay about a topic is bullshit. It's literally setting people up to fail. Thankfully, I managed to write enough to where I barely passed...
So glad that I'm done with public school. Anyway I got off topic so back to the fic:
Story takes place in 1991. Lei and Alece (prototype Alise) were both 23. And people from the old RP will tell you, they were basically this weird assassin-cop duo that had a hot fling back in the day, which resulted in a child. And Lei "dies" while Alece goes into labor and the couple get separated until T6, where they meet again. Lei has little memory of Alece due to getting shot in the head. And Alece was kidnapped by an evil scientist working for Jin and brainwashed. She eventually works for G-Corporation in her brainwashed state. Then she is cured, and Lei volunteers to look after her and they fall in love with each other again.
So yeah. Since everyone seems to like this pairing (Though I honestly prefer Elise over Alece because honestly, Elise is so much better for him), I actually kind of made it into an original story. Plus Alece kind of is a bit of an OP Mary-Sue and doesn't belong in Tekken (Has pyrokinesis and is immune to illnesses and ages slowly and is... Not even... Human. Well, I guess she's more like Kazumi. And proto-Zakk is like Kazuya, inheriting his Mom's powers but even stronger! Hell, Kazumi even has fire-wings that Alece has in her Phoenix Form)!
Alright, got distracted again. But if you're curious about the old RP and the shenanigans... Ask Mike, Mari, and I. Also I am in the process of recovering The Untold Story which, in my opinion is the best fanfic that I have written to date. So I'm looking to track it down and post it.
Enjoy Rastabortionist (the title came from a Twilight New Moon Trailer parody where Bella is pregnant and goes to see an abortionist who is a Rastafarian, who is the black vampire guy with the dreads in the movie. So he calls himself the Rastabortionist.
Rastabortionist: Me da' Rastabortionist... Imma take yer little baby... in yer uterus...)
Rastabortionist (An Anti-Abortion Message)
I remember it as clear as day, Wulong and I are a couple and it was in the summer time. Well, the two of us are living together. We have been for maybe a few months. But here's the kicker. I am pregnant. With a boy. Well, I didn't know this, and I never went to the doctors, but I took a home pregnancy test. I took one because well, my period hasn't came in well over a week. Makes me wonder if I am pregnant. I did question Wulong's birth control method. Even though I was not well educated in birth control, I knew what causes pregnancy. He had said that it's fool-proof. We've done it several times, and I'm not pregnant. He was dead wrong.
"Okay, Alece? How is that... even possible? Are you sure the baby's mine?"
I nod as I sat on the toilet seat as I showed him the results from the pregnancy stick.
"Did you retake the test?"
I nod once more.
"I really don't... Oh wait..." He slapped himself on the forehead. "That's right. That one time... I forgot to pull out..."
Yes, that much is true. I knew at that instant, my eggs were fertilized. I have discussed this with him several times, I AM NOT TO HAVE BABIES! Period. No exceptions. I know, if I had my mind made up not to have children, I should get a hysterectomy, right? Well, guess what? The doctors told me no. I will regret it later on in life if I do it. When I have a child, and he starts to wipe out half the population of people in our town, I am going to regret it. Wulong does not realize, this child, has the potential to wipe out human existence, just as I do. He will become a monster. Wulong is going to be very sorry once he finds himself getting killed by his own son. The doctors, too. Everyone will be sorry. For my own safety, and Wulong's safety, it is safer if I killed it before its born. Then I DEMAND I get the hysterectomy. Wulong did tell me he wanted children of his own one day, and I had made it clear that I am not the woman. I also told him that I don't mind that if he wanted a child, that he can go find another woman and have us raise it. I am not against the notion of raising children, I am just against raising something that can AND WILL potentially kill me and Wulong. Something that cannot be stopped. A monstrosity among the living. I got enough human DNA in me to be human, but what if you mixed those non-human traits with a human? It may screw things over.
"Well, all I can say is... we need to go see the doctor."
I shook my head. "That will not be needed."
"Look, Alece..." He puts his hand in his face. "I know you don't like doctors, but we need to keep track of the baby inside you..."
"Who said I was going to keep it?" I scoff.
"What do you mean? We don't have to keep the child... what does that have to do with anything?"
"I mean, I am going to terminate this pregnancy, so no need to see the doctors."
He gasped. I do not understand why Wulong reacts this way. Is he even aware that I am cold-hearted? I let him know this, but he does not believe me. Fine, I have gotten soft over the years. But I got older.
"You're getting an abortion?"
I nod.
"Alece... please... honey... please...think this through."
Oh boy, here he goes again. With that long speech and those sympathetic eyes. He came over and lifted me off the seat and sat down as he set me in his lap. He held my hand as he rested his head on my shoulder.
"Alece, I know this is very difficult for your body to handle, but please, for my sake, keep this child alive the best you can... we can put him up for adoption if you wish."
"You DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE SEVERITY OF THIS SITUATION!"
"Alece, calm down, please. I know what you are saying. Just please. Don't do something you'll regret later on in life."
"What is it with you people? Always saying 'don't do something you'll regret later on in life'. I've already done something! HAVING ALLOWED MYSELF TO BE SURRENDERED TO YOU! TO HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH YOU! I WAS A BIG FOOL! AND NOW! I AM PREGNANT WITH A MONSTER! THAT CAN POTENTIALLY DESTROY THE WORLD! PERHAPS 2000 IS GOING TO HAPPEN!" I got up, prying myself free from Wulong's grip.
"Alece... it's your hormones talking. Please. Just listen to yourself. Listen to what you're saying."
"You don't know what my unborn child is capable of. You have no idea... You know nothing..."
I got up and left to the bedroom. I began packing my things, as Wulong ran after me, and grabbed my waist.
"Please Alece, don't... go..."
"DO NOT... TOUCH ME... You really vant to die, do you?"
"N-n-no..."
He finally lets go of me, as I took my leave. "Ve are finished. I am tired of your ignorance..."
He waves bye as I make my way to my car. I did not think this through. I did not know where I was going to stay, but I decided to go to a motel. Until I'm back on my feet, that is. I am finished with Wulong! I am going to move somewhere else, after I get rid of this monster. I am tired of his ignorance. And that day, I broke up with my then boyfriend, now husband. I had begun looking through the yellow pages looking for a certified professional abortionist. Eventually I got too tired and feel asleep in my chair. I wondered. Wulong has always wanted to have children of his own. Perhaps he got too impatient and impregnated me on purpose. He knew this would be when I would most likely have my eggs fertilized. He betrayed me. How could he? Well, Wulong is not aware of the consequences of his actions. But now, I need to set this straight and get rid of this monster before it develops entirely.
The very next morning I got out of bed, throwing up of course, rubbing my flat tummy. My thoughts trace back to that fight Wulong and I had. I was still mad at him. This was all still his fault. I also realized that I had forgot to pack my clothes, too. Oh well. I am not going back there. However, though, I was somewhat uneasy about following through with this abortion. What if this child doesn't end up like me? What if I am able to teach it how to be a human? What if it turns out to be fully human? Right now, it will just be me.
I make my way to a clinic, making it to my designated appointment time. There were lots and lots of paperwork to fill out. I do as commanded and I finally meet the man, who is going to "assassinate" this child. I felt this sick sensation in my stomach, that began to ache all over. I had no idea what it was. That feeling.
"Are you sure you want to do this?"
I nod, swallowing bitterly. I feel like I've rushed. I find out that I am pregnant, I leave the love of my life, and three days later, I am getting an abortion. I don't even know about the child developing inside of me. Wulong is right. The test may even be incorrect. I could just be having an irregular period. But... I kept throwing up this morning. I had a terrible morning. It was almost as if the child knew that I was going to kill it, and it was trying to do whatever it can to protect itself. It was clinging to its life. Just like how humans are. It is their nature to fight for survival. Do whatever means necessary. I think I understand what Wulong was trying to teach me.
"Give me a second.. I'm going to check and see how far along you are."
As the doctor left, I was able to think more and more about my choices. I wonder. I know Wulong wants us to have children when we're married, but I thought... maybe he didn't mean to get me pregnant. He is clumsy. This is a mistake he would make. But I'm the one who messed up. I trusted him. I believed him.
Now, I put my hand over my baby, thinking about this. Do I really want this? Why am I doing this? First, I am doing this for my safety. I feel that this pregnancy will lead to my untimely grave, and I am not ready to die. I have yet to learn about the world. If I do survive the delivery, I have to worry about the child. It is a well-known fact that 40% of my DNA is not human. Wulong is 100% entirely human. Without another 40% of that non-human genes to pair, I may end up giving birth to a genetically deformed child. Wulong and I don't want this. He may end up having scales and gills, and die of lack of water. Even so, I have a feeling that this offspring would be stronger than I. If this child inherits my blood lust, and Wulong's temper, we would all be doomed. But there is a chance...
Wulong, what would you do?
Finally the doctor came back and supplied me with the medicine. He told me to take it daily. And come back in a week so I can birth the fetus.
I leave the clinic and make my way to my motel room. I looked at the city in the distance... I knew what I as going to do. I take the box of pills and toss it in a trash can.
Perhaps this pregnancy is not a curse. Maybe it's a blessing. This child... maybe Fate has plans for it. Maybe this child will help guide me. It's been decided. Tomorrow, I am going to leave town and travel across China. I will raise this child on my own and teach him right from wrong. This child, boy or girl, will not kill or murder another person. This child will be a responsible citizen, just like their father. It's too late to go back to Wulong now. The damage is done. No turning back.
Then, somebody kicks down the door. I quickly get into my fighting stance, ready to attack and defend myself. However, I relax when I find Wulong in his police uniform. What was he doing here? How did he find me? Of course, he is a police officer, he interrogated people.
He really cares about me, I figured. The fact that he went out of his way, looking for me, says a lot. He loves me. He is a good man. I love him. I am having a child. On TV, when a couple are expecting, they are both lovers and care deeply for each other.
"Sorry. Standard protocol." He rubs the back of his head.
I quickly run to embrace him. I owe him an apology. That pain in my chest... well it went away. That pain. I later found out. It was not my child attacking me, it was an emotion that I later learned... remorse. The side that loves Wulong... felt remorse... because of what I did. What I did! I do not deserve that.
"Listen, Alece... I'm sorry. Okay. I should have just let you make up your mind. After all, you are carrying this child. Its fate is up to you. You decide."
"Wulong. You are right. Everything. You were right."
"Alece... listen. If you still want this abortion, I'm right here with you..."
I shook my head. "No, Wulong, I do not want an abortion anymore." I then closed my eyes for a moment to rest on Wulong's chest before speaking again. "I want us to raise him, together. I know this is a very bad time... but I think fate has plans... for us. This child... may bring us closer together." I finally open them, full of tears, smiling. "I am sorry about last week. I was just... irritable... You were right. It was just my hormones speaking."
He then lets go of me, as he turns around. "Well, I came here to catch a criminal. I just happened to see your car, and felt that I would stop by and pay you a visit."
Just like that, he was gone again. No! Don't leave me! Please! "Wulong! WAIT! Don't go!"
Wulong turns around, spinning in his heels. He was still smiling. That charming smile. I have never been able to resist that smile.
"Alece, you know I got a job to do..." He fiddles with his bangs.
"Well, I was wondering... may I help you catch him?"
He shook his head. "I know you are very much skilled in assassination arts, but... think about our child. Just take it easy." He then paused, to stroke his chin in deep thought. "You know what, on second thought, I may have some use for you."
I follow Wulong out to the car as he told me his idea. I was going to be disguised as a cleaning lady, and I am going to check the room to see if he is hiding his drugs in his room. Once I confirm it, I summon Wulong to come in and arrest the crook, while I hold him down. Back then, we did not have cellular devices so I could not text him. The signal was that I would say, "C'est la vie" and he would come in.
I did as I was told, but I didn't find any drugs. However, Wulong came in anyway and arrested him. Though, that man was very dangerous. He had some weapons and explosives. After interrogating him, Wulong said that this suspect was a drug dealer, but it turns out that he was working for a drug dealer. He is actually a weapons manufacturer. He gives him the weapons that are used to kill Wulong. That was then, we found out, Wulong is going to die very soon. Just as they sent me after him, it will not be too long before they come for him. Now, I understand why I am pregnant. Wulong will die. And this child will be the only memory I will have left of him. He was not able to find the man who wanted him dead, but he learned that because he is so nosy, the underground world realizes that he is a threat. Even though Wulong is but a cadet, he is able to track down criminals and use his brain to the best of his abilities, making him to be one of the best cops on the force, even though he is a cadet. Hopefully, he will get a promotion, AND MORE money will come in.
Wulong did eventually get a promotion in early 1992, just before our son was born. The next few months, Wulong spoiled me. He gave me ice cream and pickles, strawberries, fish, everything I loved. I was going to eat my usual rare steak, but Wulong informed me that our child probably does not have the same immune system as I. We were able to find out that this child I'm carrying is a boy and he is due in March 14th. Unfortunately, I ended up giving birth to him early. But it was because on that day, Wulong was taken away from me. He had been killed by Dr. Ivanov, and I fell into labor. I was forced to give birth, as Dr. Ivanov took me away. Dr. Ivanov got me pregnant right after I had my son. I had been able to escape and moved to the United States to raise my son and my daughter alone. I was hoping that I would live in an era of peace, but I soon realized, I will never have peace. So I began to teach my two children the art of assassination that I had learned as a little girl, and taught them what to do in situations, in case the Russians came in, they could help protect me, just as Wulong would have. I tried raising my son to be a decent man like Wulong, but he is too stubborn like his dad and all that training went to his head. I lost my daughter Anastasia in 2010 due to her committing suicide. My son, Zakk, lived and is still alive. I am so glad I did not take those pills. After all, it was my son who brought Wulong and I back together, well actually, rather... the Wulong I knew and loved is dead. This new Wulong, he is much wiser, smarter, and more careful. No longer was he the naive fool I fell for, now he is a cautious man. We have a lot more in common, and he is not so ignorant. He does not get shocked when he hears terrible things anymore. I like the new him. I would even go as far as to say we weren't compatible when we were younger, but now that we're 50, and we were given PLENTY of time to grow up, I find that I prefer him when he's mature and cautious, rather than when he was childish and naive.

Lei Shun Gets Adopted This is it, Lei thought to himself as he was in the meeting room with ten younger fellow detectives. He was tasked with leading a task force to infiltrate an underground sex trafficking ring. After getting anonymous tips, and witnesses, as well as having one of their agents go undercover, they were ready to shut things down. Lei was giving out a PowerPoint presentation on the criminals that they should look out for and who to arrest. He also instructed them what to do with the hostages.
As Lei gave his presentation, he didn’t notice Elise walking in and standing behind him as she mimicked his grand gestures. Mocking him, almost. Lei always managed to look good in suits. It was well tailored to perfectly fit every inch of his body.
“Any questions?”
A detective raised his hand. “Why is your fiancée here?”
Lei stared at his subordinate in confusion before turning his head and seeing Elise.
“You know what, let’s break for lunch! Remember, stay sharp! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty, because tonight… we dine in Hell!”
All the detectives left as Lei was now alone with his recently wedded wife, Elise, though they considered themselves as engaged. The two have been together for 5 months now, and quickly got married a few weeks ago. Well, only because that was the only way that Elise would be able to work in Hong-Kong. They figured that they should marry now and have their wedding later. Lei still wasn’t comfortable with having a wedding, but he felt that Elise deserves the world, and he should give her the wedding that she’s always wanted. Just hopefully she doesn’t get capture and tortured to death by the Wo Shing Wo. Well, they’re shut down… but still… never hurts to be safe.
“So, I guess you’re here to take me to lunch, then?” He asks, following Elise out of police station as he walked with her.
“Of course. I figured that since you’re about to do something dangerous that I get to spend as much time as I possibly can with you.”
Lei nods. “Yeah.”
He was led to the parking garage where Elise’s Pontiac sat. Lei gets in on the passenger’s side as Elise got behind the wheel. For once he was going to let Elise drive. She was supposed to go take him out to lunch. She takes him to a picnic spot at the edge of a cliff. She parks the car and opens the trunk to grab a cloth, a cooler, and a picnic basket.
This is nice. Lei thought to himself as he got himself situated on the cloth. Elise joins him, kneeling as she reaches over for the food.
“So, what’s been happening with you?” Lei asks Elise as he reaches for a sandwich.
“Well, as you know, the next semester doesn’t start until a few months. But I got time to make my lesson plans.”
“Have you gotten a syllabus made yet?”
“Well, I just copy-pasted my genetics syllabus.” Elise said. “Less work for me there, but I have to translate everything into English.”
“I can understand how that would be difficult.”
Elise smiled. “I also found some Chinese books my students can read. I can’t read Chinese, so I got the English copy.”
“That’s good. Elise, I’m really proud of you.”
Elise smiled. “I am proud of you, too. Look at you, leading a task force to save a bunch of victims of a horrifying crime.”
“Yeah. We’re both very proud of our accomplishments and how far we’ve come.”
“But there is some bad news…”
“Hm?”
“Well, the results came in… my eggs aren’t viable, Wulong.”
“Oh.” He took a bite of his sandwich and swallowed bitterly.
“So… if we’re going to make a baby… we’re going to have to go to Japan and use my frozen eggs from the Mishima Zaibatsu and go through with IVF.”
Lei frowned. He knew exactly what that entailed, as Elise had explained the whole process to him. It wasn’t a very pleasant one at all. Elise agreed but felt it was the only way for them to have a child with their own flesh and blood. Elise and Lei both wished that they could just spend a few days together alone, make love, and conceive a healthy child. Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to happen. Elise knew it wouldn’t, but she was in denial. However, instead of dwelling on it, she was going to enjoy their time together. Elise wanted to treat Lei to some lunch before he goes off on a dangerous mission. She had faith that he was going to return in one-piece.
“And… I get to jizz in a cup in a room with some magazines of plastic women…”
“Remember, we can always do this at home before going to the doctors.”
“Right. I forgot about that… still…”
Elise leans over to give Lei a soft kiss on his cheek. “We’ll figure it out some day.”
“Yes, we will.”
Lei then grabbed a napkin and wiped some mayonnaise at the corner of Elise’s mouth. She smiled, thanking Lei.
“But right now,” Lei began as he leaned forward. “We should enjoy ourselves as a couple.”
Elise leans over to give Lei a soft kiss on his cheek. “We’ll figure it out some day.”
“Yes, we will.”
------------------------------------------- It was go-time. Lei was leading a squad of detectives for this task. Right now, they were now in the belly of the beast. The team swam underwater as the headquarters were at an abandoned water treatment plant. A very conspicuous place to hide hostages. Once the team made it to the entrance, they crawled out of the water. Everyone drew out their guns. Lei approached a door knocking it.
“Hong-Kong Police! Open up!” Lei shouted.
There was no reply. Lei then instructed his subordinates to stay behind. Lei then took a lock-pick, picking the lock on the door before opening it and brandishing his gun.
As Lei opened the door, he discovered 50-60 women all kept in a large prison cell, with a few small children kept in smaller cages. Not letting that distract him, Lei tried to get information from one of the prisoners, but he soon heard footsteps. Lei then signaled for his teammates to follow him.
“Get ready!” He whispered.
Soon all the detectives entered the room as a swarm of armed men came out. Bullets flew everywhere as Lei and his team took cover behind a table, crates, avoiding gunfire. Everyone was wearing a bulletproof vest, thankfully. Lei had to be careful as not only is he responsible for the life of his teammates, but he was also now responsible for the lives of the hostages.
Lei did a quick headcount and noticed exactly 17 armed gunmen. Several of them have AK-47’s and shotguns. All Lei and his squad were semi-automatic pistols and a shotgun. Not only did the enemy have the advantage in firepower, they also were on higher ground, giving them a better view of the landscape below. Lei had to think of a strategy to even the odds. It was 17 against 10. Soon he had an idea.
Lei quickly aimed a bullet right at a gunman’s shoulder. Lei never shot to kill, unless killing the criminal would be the only way to save some lives. The gunman will live. The man grimaced as he dropped to his knees and held his arm as he dropped his weapon.
Lei then rolled behind a crate, charging forward as he used the crate as a barrier. He then kicks the crate, using it as a diversion. While the remaining gunmen fired at the crate, Lei then rolled off behind a table.
Lei was now on top of his enemies and noticed that they didn’t notice that he was no longer behind the crate. He ducked and took cover. Lei didn’t have much time to plan his next move. However, he quickly climbed up over the table, and climbed through the guardrails. At that second, Lei’s decoy was destroyed by the gunfire. It won’t be long before his teammates and the hostages suffer the same fate. Unfortunately, all eyes were on him. However, it seemed to work out in his favor.
While the bad guys were distracted and focused on killing Lei, one of the detectives moved a little closer, and tossed tear gas, causing a distraction. As Lei wore goggles and a mask, he was able to perform hand-to-hand combat on several men, easily taking them on. Lei knocked a few unconscious. However, he was soon shot in the chest by a shotgun blast. Lei quickly grabbed the shotgun, reeling his opponent as he sent in a lariat.
Once the smoke cleared, all 17 of the shooters were incapacitated. Not just by Lei, but with the combined efforts of himself and all the detectives. Lei then instructed two of the detectives to stay behind and escort the hostages. Lei lead his 7-man squad as they walked down the corridors. Lei bangs down several doors, freeing a few hostages, and cuffing the perps. Finally, Lei entered a room, and saw the man who was suspected to be the kingpin. Lei then took note of a small Eurasian boy on a leash wearing a muzzle. The boy wore a dog collar, along with spiked leather bracelets and a harness where the leash was attached. The leash wash held by an older man in a yellow suit who had a golden cane. Lei was understandably disturbed by this but kept a clear head. Lei then noticed that he was suddenly getting dizzy as his vision soon began to blur.
Lei then put his hand on his stomach, and noticed he was bleeding. Shit! I was shot!
It was one of the shotgun pellets. It tore through his armor and got into his stomach. However, Lei shook his head and stood tall.
“Chu I’m placing you under arrest for trafficking humans for the purpose of sexual exploitation!”
“Of course. You came here to shut this place down! I should have expected as much.”
The man stood up. He looks to the boy, and hands the child his gun.
“Now be a good boy. And shoot that police officer for me, okay?” He gently pats the boy on the top of his messy black hair.
Lei couldn’t draw his weapon out. Not on a child. He could see the pain and sorrow in the child’s hazel eyes as Lei stared into the barrel of the gun. His teammates were already taking care of the hostages and apprehending the criminals. It was just Lei on his own. He could shoot the suspect, but he didn’t want to bring this boy more trauma than he already has. Not to mention, if Lei shoots his captor, the child won’t be able to trust Lei. Lei had to somehow snap the child out of his brainwashed state.
“You’ll be rewarded handsomely.” He whispers to the child. “Now go, shoot him. Make sure he’s dead, too.”
“Listen to me, little boy! You don’t have to do this! If you just put the gun down, I can help you.” Lei said.
“Listen to him.” The man laughs. “He’s begging like a dog for his life. Put him down like the dog he is!”
“Hasn’t Chu been abusing you and toying with you? He treats you like you’re less than human… but trust me, child… you’re much more than that. You’re a child. You deserve to live a normal life… you don’t need to shoot me. I promise… I’ll take you back to your parents if you don’t shoot me!” Lei smiled, remaining hopeful.
However, Lei said the wrong thing, as the kid shot Lei three times. Lei groaned and grimaced in pain as he took the shot to his upper thigh, and chest twice, though his vest absorbed it. He fell to his knees, hissing in pain. “Ugh. Damnit… Fuck!”
Chu smiled, as he pets the child as if he were a dog. “Good boy. Now finish him.”
Lei stared at the child, desperate to reach out to him. “Okay, so your parents are out of the picture. I’m sorry. Whatever happened to them… must have been awful. I know. Trust me. I lost my parents, too when I was younger. I know what it’s like. Living on the streets. Hand to mouth, especially as a vulnerable child.”
“Don’t listen to him! He knows nothing about your struggles. He doesn’t know your father used your mother like the whore she is. He never gave a shit about you, and frankly neither did your mother. She sold you to me, so she could get high one last time. She just tossed you away like the trash you are! He can never truly understand your pain!”
While Chu was right, Lei couldn’t understand what it’s like to have your own mother sell you to a pimp. And later get brainwashed to kill his one ticket to freedom. Lei then stood up on his feet, in spite of the pain and the blood. Lei takes off his goggles, and his mask.
“Little boy, I’m going to save you. Even if it is the last thing I’ll do!” Lei declared. He made eye-contact with the child before eventually charging forward to attack Chu.
Chu simply dodged Lei, hitting him the back of his head with his cane, as Lei fell on the desk. Chu then takes his cane, and unsheathes it, revealing it to be a sword-cane. Lei had to do something. Quick.
“Well, then, since you’re not going to kill him, I might as well finish him off, then. I’ll punish you later.”
Lei rolled over, watching as the bladed cane fell right at his throat. Lei immediately caught the weapon with his forearm. Thankfully, his gauntlet absorbed the impact as Lei kicks his opponent off him. Lei stands up, using the desk as support. Lei then kicks Chu and grabs his cane and uses it to cut the leash that held the child in place.
“Go! Freedom is that way! You’ll get someone who will love you and care about you. Life will get better from_”
Lei was blindsided by a pistol whip to the face by Chu. Lei watched as the boy still had his weapon trained on him. Lei was hoping this child would run to freedom.
“I’ve had enough of your shit! Time to put you down!”
Lei heard the gun go off but was very confused when he noticed that he didn’t get shot. Lei noticed blood dripping on his chest. But that wasn’t his blood, no.
The little boy shot Chu in the arm. Lei then arrested the perp, as back-up returned to put Chu into custody. Lei walked over, taking the dog-collar off the child, as well as all other bondage gear he wore and the muzzle.
“Thank you.” He whispered, before running off.
Lei smiled before blacking out.
------------------------------------------- Lei found himself in the hospital bed later. His injuries were getting treated, though Lei was going to be out of commission for six weeks. Thankfully, the shotgun pellet missed his liver, and the gunshot to the thigh missed his femoral artery. Lei had to lay low and take it easy for the next six weeks. He was relegated to doing desk duty until he was fully healed.
“Wulong! You’re okay!” Elise shouted as she came in through the curtains.
Lei sat up, happy to see Elise. “Yes. I told you I was going to make it out of there alive. And so did my entire squad.”
“I know.” She whispered. “You saved those people…”
“Yeah… not a single fatality.” Lei was proud of himself there. Nobody died. They were able to apprehend the criminals and save all the hostages, despite having a few casualties. Though Lei wondered, what was going to happen to that little boy?
“You really are the Super Cop, aren’t you?”
“Thanks to my cunning and quick wit.” Lei smiled arrogantly.
“And your lineage…”
“Shh… Nobody’s supposed to know. That’s supposed to be our little secret.”
However, Lei then noticed the little boy from earlier. The child was hiding behind Elise, but he revealed himself just then. Lei noticed that his matted hair was neatly combed out and set in a ponytail much like his own. He also saw the child wearing traditional Chinese clothing.
“The Superintendent instructed you to look after Shun. You’re the only person that he trusts.”
Lei looked down at the child.
“Shun’s the name that my mother gave me before she got rid of me.” He said to Lei.
“Shun… It’s a beautiful name.” Lei tilted his head as he smiled.
“I’ve decided to testify against Master Chu and his bosses. But they said that they might come for me, so you need to protect me, Mr. Lei.”
Lei nods in understanding. “Elise and I will keep you safe, Shun. That’s a promise.”
“I know. That’s why I asked for you, Mr. Lei.”
“How’s Li-Mei taking the news?” Lei asked Elise.
“She’s upset.”
Lei groaned. “I figured just as much.” But can he blame the little girl, though?
“Mr. Lei, I’ll be a good boy! I promise! I’ll clean the dishes! Clean my room! Do all my chores!”
“Shun, you don’t have to worry about all of that. Just relax and play video games. When I go home, we can set up the Genesis so we can play video games together, alright?”
Shun nods.
“He’s going to be posing as our son.” Elise said. “It’s the perfect disguise. A young Eurasian boy with a Eurasian couple. Nobody is going to suspect at thing.”
“You’re right. Well, Shun. Welcome to the family.”
“And this is where you’ll be staying.” Lei said, pointing at the guest’s bedroom with his crutch after returning to the apartment.
“I get my own room?” Shun asked.
“Yes.” Lei smiles.
“That’s cool.” He enters the room, as Lei then walked away and signaled Elise to follow him.
“We need to give him space.” Lei said to Elise. “When children come from abusive situations, it’s best to leave them alone for at least 24 hours. That way, they know that if they feel uncomfortable, they have somewhere safe that they can go to.”
“I think I get it. So, by leaving him alone, it just tells him that his bedroom is a safe space.”
Lei nods. “Also, always knock before coming in. And when you approach him, move slowly and don’t make sudden movements. Better yet, let him approach you.”
Elise watched as Lei struggled to get up the stairs. She hated seeing Lei like this. Elise then got to his side and allowed Lei to lean against her to walk up the stairs. Eventually the two made it to their bedroom. She helped Lei undress and get into a comfortable position in the bed before getting herself ready for bed. Lei laid on his side, his back facing Elise as she took off her earrings.
“So, that poor child… his mother abandoned him? Is this true?”
“Very likely. I highly doubt that Chu would lie about something like that. Not to mention, it happens all the time, unfortunately.” Lei turned to face Elise.
“But why would a parent do this to their own child?”
“It’s very likely she was a prostitute herself, too.” Lei added.
Elise nods. “Such a sad thing.”
“And Chu mentioned that she got ‘high one last time’. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s likely that when she sold Shun, she overdosed and died.”
“How would Chu know such a thing?”
“She may have been a prostitute for the Triads, anyway.”
“What about his father?”
“If his mother was a prostitute, then his father was one of her clients. I doubt it that we will be able to find his father. We shouldn’t be concerned about the origin of his parents. But right now, we need to focus on keeping him safe.”
“How will we do that if you’re on crutches?”
Lei smirked. “As a Kung-Fu student, I have conditioned my body over the years and turned it into a living weapon. Even if I’m limping, I still have my elbows, forearms, fists, shoulders, and even forehead to still defend myself with.”
“Yes of course.” Elise was new to the world of Martial Arts. She forgets that Lei has been training for well over 40 years. He pretty much invented his own fighting style, borrowing foundations and ideals from other fighting styles in order to create a fighting style specialized in stopping criminals in their tracks.
“There’s a reason why people call me a Super Cop. And criminals call me that out of fear and respect. It’s not just my amazing detective skills.”
“Yeah. I sometimes forget that.”
After Elise slipped into some sleepwear, she jumped into bed next to Lei. She cradles him from behind and holds him close. While she wasn’t physically able to protect her husband, she could protect his heart.
------------------------------------------- The next morning, Lei was preparing breakfast for the entire family. Lei now had to consider that he had to feed an extra person today. So naturally, he had to make extra food. Lei also made note of having to buy extra food. As Lei was in the kitchen, he noticed that Shun was up.
“Good morning, Shun.” Lei greeted.
“Good morning, Mr. Lei.”
“So, how did you sleep last night?”
“I slept just fine. Thanks for asking. You have a nice home…”
“Yeah…” Lei didn’t know exactly what to say.
“And… I smell real food. What are you cooking?”
“I’m making some vegetable omelets.”
“What’s that?”
“Just some cooked eggs stuffed with eggplant, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms.”
“That sounds delicious.”
“Do you want a sample of the meal?”
Shun pointed at himself. “Me?”
Lei smiled. “Yes, you.”
“Oh… cool!”
Lei watched as Shun cautiously approached him. He kept a calm posture and slowly got a sample of the cooked omelet, with his chopstick, and allows the boy to sample the meal. Lei stood and watched as the child tasted the food.
“How is it?”
“This is good!”
Lei then handed the child the cooked omelet and allowed him a seat at the table. The toast popped up as he hands it to Shun.
Elise soon arrived not too long after. She drags her feet as she had her crossword puzzle booklet tucked under her arm.
“Good morning, honey-bun.” Lei greeted his wife.
Elise was now awake. That meant that Li-Mei wouldn’t be too far behind, along with Cheyenne. He only managed to cook two omelets, and now he needed to cook three more.
“Good morning, Wulong.” Elise said as she quickly walked over and kissed him on his lips.
She then scoured the pantry and got a k-cup packet. She pops it in the hot water dispenser located next to the water dispenser on the fridge and instantly coffee came out. Lei handed Elise her fixings as the woman prepared her coffee and sat down next to Shun and began working at her crossword puzzle. Lei handed Elise her plate as he continued to cook the breakfast. Lei watched as Shun grabbed his plate and his drink.
“Can I eat in my room?”
“Sure. Go right ahead.”
Lei watched as Shun left the breakfast table and entered the bedroom nearby as Elise looked at Lei, worried that she did something wrong.
“Did I do something?”
“No, Elise. Remember, this child came from an abusive environment. He doesn’t know you, so it’s going to take some getting used to. Let him get to know you in his own time and keep your distance.” Lei leaned on his crutch.
Elise nods. “Okay…”
“Remember, our mission is to protect him. He is not our child. He’s just staying with us until the trial ends. Okay?”
Elise nods. “He seems lost.”
“Yeah… I know.” Lei ran his fingers through his hair. “I was in his shoes when I was around Li-Mei’s age.”
Cheyenne and Li-Mei both were not too far behind as Li-Mei ran to hug Lei as Cheyenne was surprised to see Lei.
“Uncle Wulong! Aren’t you supposed to be in the hospital?”
“Well, the bullet missed my femoral artery, and my gut is fine.” Lei smiled.
“And what about that kid?”
“He’ll be staying with us for a while.” Lei admitted. “He’s going to be our foster kid.”
Li-Mei went from pouting to being intrigued by this. “What’s a 'foster kid'?”
“Basically, a homeless child who is temporarily being looked after until they have a home.”
Elise smiled.
“Ooh… Shun is homeless?”
“Yes. He's an orphan.”
“So his Mama and Baba are dead like yours, Baba?”
Lei nodded bitterly. He forgot that he told Li-Mei about that. “Yes.”
“I’m sorry I was so mean to him!”
“I forgive you. I know, having a random stranger suddenly moving into your space makes you very uncomfortable. But this is only temporary. He'll be out of your hair soon.”
“But where is he going to go?”
“To an orphanage where he will eventually find himself a good home with two or one loving parent who will take very good care of him.”
The more Lei thought, the more he could feel a connection to this poor child. Li-Mei was right. Where would he go? Who would adopt him? As far as Lei knows, boys who were sexually abused tend to never get adopted. The ones that do, parents would try and take them back.
“How long is he going to stay?”
“Maybe for a few weeks or so.”
------------------------------------------- Lei sat in his shared home office as he flipped through his notes. Elise had managed to collect Shun's DNA sample from the saliva on his plate. Elise told Lei that she’s analyzing his DNA, and while she’s on it, look for any possible relatives.
“Hmm…”
Lei read a file on Shun’s mother. She’s a prostitute-turned porn-star and served as an informant for various detectives. However, Lei noticed, there was a huge case that she was involved in.
“She was one of the key witnesses to the killings that occurred at the nightclubs. And she would have put the killer behind bars had she not overdosed on Heroin in 2012. Police suspect foul play involved, as her death ended up with the delayed arrest of the nightclub killer.”
Lei continued his research. He realized that Shun’s mother worked for the Triads. And she was abducted at the age of 16 and was groomed to be the perfect whore. Lei noted, that prostitutes tend to use protection, and often the bosses would give their allies whores as a gift. And when they do give them the whores, they don't usually use protection.
“Hmm… so that means Shun’s father, if he’s out there, is part of the Triads. Or maybe he’s part of the Syndicate. Since his mother is a Hong-Kong native, that means his father is from overseas…”
Lei did wonder who it could be. He tried to figure out a list of possible candidates. Lei needed to figure out Shun’s birthday and figure out when he was conceived. From there, Lei could narrow the search down to travel records.
“From there… I can possibly figure out who his father is.”
Lei’s thoughts were soon interrupted by a soft knock at the door. “Come in.”
Lei spun around in his chair as he turned to see Shun as he walked in. He allowed the young child to take a seat in a chair by the door as the child closed the door behind him.
“Yes?”
“Mr. Lei… I was wondering… what’s going to happen after the case?”
“Hm? Well, don’t worry too much about it.” Lei lifted the glasses over his forehead as he slumped in his chair. “We’ll figure it out when we cross that bridge.”
“You said you lived on the streets… is that true?”
“Yeah…”
“What happened to your parents?”
“My dad got murdered, and my mom killed herself.”
“Just like my mom.”
“Yeah…”
“At least she didn’t sell you for drugs.”
Lei nods. “Yeah… but what she did wasn’t any better.”
“Did anybody save you?”
“I guess my brother. He took me in and raised me. But we were still struggling, until my brother finally started his business.”
“You’re very lucky, Mr. Lei.”
“I am?” Lei pointed at himself.
“Yes. I’m not going to be as lucky as you were. Your parents loved you. Your brother loved you. Everyone loved you. But not me. My mom threw me out like I was garbage. And I’m sure my father did the same.”
“You’re going to be lucky. Trust me. You’ll find someone who will love you and take care of you. I know… because Shun, I see nothing but greatness in those eyes.”
Lei then rises from his seat, using his crutches as he walks over to Shun. “Trust me… things are going to turn out well for you, okay? You’ll find a happy family, okay?”
Lei places his hand on Shun’s shoulder. “You’re going to do great things.”
Shun then reached his arms out for a hug, which Lei willingly accepted. Afterwards, Shun thanks Lei and leaves the room as Lei sat back down in his chair. Lei was back to thinking about Shun’s father.
“It’s very likely that even if I find his father, he still wouldn’t want to have anything to do him.”
Lei repeated the same phrase hours later as he stood next to Elise at the foot of the stairs. The couple watched as Li-Mei, Cheyenne, and Shun all interacted with each other. It amazed Lei how child-like Shun is. He seems happy. Lei closed his eyes for a moment as he leaned on his crutch.
“Somehow you sound quite doubtful about this.” Elise said, crossing her arms.
“If the father is out there, legally, we have to send Shun back to him.”
“And how do you feel about this?”
“I hope whatever happens, he ends up in a good home. The kid needs a loving family in order to thrive. He needs someone to look up to, someone who will take very good care of him. Someone who will teach him right from wrong. And most importantly, someone who will love and support him.”
Elise placed a hand on Lei’s shoulder, smiling at him. “I’m sure that Shun will be well taken care of.”
For the first time, Lei saw Shun smile. Lei knew that this is where he is meant to be, but Lei quickly shook his head. He couldn’t have another Giorgio situation on his hands. He shouldn’t get attached to him. He then turned his head, facing Elise.
“You’re right. I’ve already done my part.”
It has been a whole month now. The trial was over and resulted in the arrest of many criminals. The DNA analysis was done as it revealed that Shun’s father from England. As Elise and Lei did a joint investigation, Shun’s father stepped forward. However, Lei didn’t trust the man. He kept this to himself but kept tabs on this Donvan Wales.
Shun appears to have started opening more, as well as participating more with the family. He seems to trust Elise a little more, as the two ended up having an intellectual discussion together. Lei found himself getting attached to this kid and wondered if his distrust of Donovan is rational. Not to mention, Shun was very happy with the current home. Lei watched as Donovan stopped by the house and took Shun with him. Lei and Elise both waved bye as he left. Lei then closes the door as he turns to Elise. His leg injury had fully healed at this point, so he no longer hobbled around on crutches.
“I need to keep a close eye on this man…” Lei whispered to Elise.
“What? Wulong? Seriously! The man is his father! Leave him alone! Let him go!”
“How can I rest, knowing that Shun’s father is a criminal.”
“How would you know this?”
“Donovan Wales is a rumored kingpin, crime lord. He wasn’t convicted, due to lack of evidence, but he fits the profile that I had set for Shun’s father.”
“Really now?”
“Yes. For that reason, I need to keep a close watch of him. Elise, if you can, analyze Donovan’s DNA. See if it matches.”
“Okay…”
Li-Mei then runs up and hugs Lei, squeezing him tightly. Lei hugs her back, squeezing her just as much.
“Don’t be sad, Baba.”
“I’m not sad, Li-Mei.” Lei gave his daughter a smile.
“I don’t buy that! Not for a second!”
“Look? See? I’m smiling!” Lei grinned even bigger than before.
“Shun will come visit, right?”
“Yes, he will.”
“I can’t wait!”
Lei then picked up Li-Mei and placed her on his shoulders. “Let’s go out for a walk.”
“Alright! I hope Shun’s Baba is nice to him!”
“I hope so, too…”
Lei was finally back on his normal duty. However, Lei had been trying to figure out what Donovan was planning to do. Lei had secretly been following Donovan and Shun, watching the two have fun at an amusement park. He watched as they went to go see a movie together and did so many things that fathers and sons do together. Lei was feeling nostalgic for a bit until eventually, he returned home. Perhaps Elise was right. Lei had to let Shun go. What is he to do? He’s not even the child’s father. Why is he abusing his power to stalk him?
Lei laid in bed that night just thinking about the whole thing. Elise laid in bed next to him, sleeping peacefully. He looked down at the woman’s sleeping face. Lei just couldn’t bring himself to go to sleep. It was then Lei realized… he really is attached to Shun. He had let his emotions cloud his judgement again. Elise tried to cheer him up by making love to him, but it really didn’t do much for him. He’s still worried and concerned about Shun.
Lei slipped on his trousers as he sat on the edge of the bed. He rubs his eyes, thinking about what to do. He glanced at his phone and noticed a message. It was from one of his informants. It was the address to where Donovan currently was at. As he was just about to go check it out, Lei felt a pair of arms constrict itself around him as Elise rested her chin on his shoulder.
“Mmm… Wulong? Is everything okay?”
“Yes, I uh… have to go.”
“Is it about Shun?”
“Yes… I need to go on a walk to clear my mind.”
“I should go with you.”
“I’d rather walk alone.”
“Okay. Just don’t take too long. I’ll be here, waiting.”
Lei was eventually freed from Elise’s grasp. He threw on some black clothes, grabbed his car keys, and headed out of his home. Lei arrived at the warehouse. He quietly sneaks by, and witnesses an arms deal going down. Lei took photos but stayed hidden as he listened to Donovan speak.
Lei didn’t get much information on Shun as Donovan was just talking about his growing empire. However, Lei soon listened in as Donovan finally mentioned Shun by name.
“I’ve got everyone fooled.”
“Yeah.”
“This boy is subservient, perfect for the brothel…”
“Are you going to make a deal by using your son?”
“That boy? Shun? He’s not my son. I simply decided to claim to be his father so I can sell him to the highest bidder.”
Lei balled his hands into fists as he gritted his teeth in anger.
“How will you do this?”
“Well, I’m going to take him out of this country before they find out that I’m not the father. Once he’s in England, it’s all smooth sailing from here on out.”
Unable to control his anger, Lei immediately jumped from hiding and attacked Donovan. One of his guards moved Lei’s fists to the side, as well as kneeing him in the gut. Two more of his guards then point their guns at Lei, who was on his knees, coughing up blood.
“Detective, you should know better not to trespass on private property. You of all people should know this.”
Lei smirked as he looked up. “And you of all people should know, it’s illegal to own a firearm here in Hong-Kong.”
“I should kill you where you stand. However, that would be too… messy. I don’t like to get my hands dirty.”
“Why do this to an innocent kid?” Lei finally stood up, ignoring the guns pointed at him. “All he wants is to be loved and accepted!”
“It’s just business. I’m trying to make a profit here.”
“You sick bastard!” Lei shouted before throwing a flurry of punches at one of the guards. However, just before another one could shoot him, Lei sent in a kick from the rear, and spun around to take out another guard who threatens to shoot him. While Lei was fighting off the guards, Donovan immediately made his escape. After doing several surprise kicks, drunken punches, and back-flips, Lei was the last man standing. He groaned as he then looked at his phone. He missed 5 calls from Elise. He quickly picks up the phone and calls Elise as he exited the warehouse.
“Wulong Lei! Where the hell are you?”
“I fell asleep on a park bench.”
He heard his wife sighing on the other line. “You know how worried I am! Here, I thought you went to go confront Donovan!”
Which was exactly what Lei did, but he couldn’t let his wife know that. “Look, I’m on my way home, okay? Look? I’ll fix you coffee, alright? I’ll give you a full-body massage. Okay?”
“Alright.” Elise sighed again. “You better not have a single bruise when you get back home.”
“I won’t.”
“Good.”
Elise hung up right then and there. However, once Lei got home, he immediately undressed and climbed back into bed, where Elise was waiting.
“You were snooping around, weren’t you?”
“So what if I was?” Lei grabs a hold of Elise’s hands, running his fingers through them.
“Because you of all people should know… that’s stalking.”
“And… not unless I have probable cause…” Lei then caressed Elise’s cheek with his left hand. “It’s considered a stake-out.”
He could tell that Elise was really enjoying this, even though she was still slightly angry at him.
“But I’m here now… and I’m back.” He presses his forehead against Elise’s. “You’re all I need.”
Elise lets go of Lei's hand and wraps her arms around his neck. She was now blushing and almost completely forgot about Lei lying to her. Judging by his behavior, it was clear that either Lei did something dangerous, or he's about to do something dangerous. But she was going to enjoy this tender moment that they have together.
“I love you.” He whispered before tilting his head to kiss her as Elise kissed him back.
------------------------------------------- It was the next day as he had been at the station, showing the photos of Donovan’s transactions and the fact that Shun isn’t his son.
“Are you sure about this? And you aren’t just making this up, so you have an excuse to see Shun again?”
Lei nods. “Yes! I was there, last night! An informant told me about this.”
The superintendent shakes his head and nods. “Yes, of course. And why keep tabs on Donovan?”
“Look, I had a gut feeling that something was wrong… and my gut never lies.”
Elise then knocks on the door as the Superintendent invites her inside. She walks up to him with a clipboard in hand.
“Sir, Donovan is not Shun's biological father. If you look at their DNA, you'll notice not a single match. I did some digging and as it turns out… Shun’s father was actually a Brit born in Hong-Kong who later died of drug overdose not too long after impregnating Shun’s mother.”
Lei held his hand out, nodding along with Elise, as if to say, “I told you so!”
“Hmmm… interesting.”
Elise hands the Superintendent the results.
“I see… well, if Donovan isn’t Shun’s father, we better go get him. Lei, you and a team should go apprehend Donovan!”
“Yes sir!”
Elise and Lei both walked out of the office as Lei grabbed Elise’s shoulders and kisses her lips.
“Elise, you are the best! I love you!”
“I’m sorry that I doubted you. I just_”
“We’ll talk about that later, okay, Bun-Bun?”
Elise nods as Lei ran down the hall. “I'll be waiting for you when you get back!”
Lei and his team of detectives were all at the airport. Donovan was trying to leave the country and the second he boards the plane, Shun is lost forever.
Zakk was also accompanying Lei on this mission as Lei had his subordinates split into pairs as Lei had his son accompany him.
The two weaves through the crowd as they search for Donovan.
“So that wanker is going to put Shun back on the streets?”
Lei nods. “Exactly. The second he boards that plane, Shun is gone. This is why we need to save him!”
Zakk nods in understanding.
As the two men wandered throughout the airport, they eventually find Donovan with Shun. Immediately, Lei quickly did a dropkick to Donovan, forcing him to collide with the crowd as Zakk grabs Shun.
“What’s going on?” Shun asked struggling to get free from Zakk.
Lei points at Donovan. “This man is not your father. We’re here to save you!”
“Wha-wha_” Shun asked as he stopped struggling.
“Don’t listen to him, he has no idea what he’s talking about!” Donovan stammered.
“Donovan Wales! I’m placing you under arrest for kidnapping a young child!”
“Fine then. Be that way.”
Donovan then ordered his bodyguards to snatch Shun from Zakk, as Lei told Zakk to get to safety while he took on the thugs. Lei did the best he could with taking out the thugs, as Donovan tried to get to Zakk. One thug then tried to punch Lei, but Lei quickly dropped to the ground, and kicked him. He was sent flying as he found himself getting stuck in between the escalators.
Zakk also found it difficult to fight while carrying a child, so Lei had to do everything. Just as a thug was going to snatch Shun, Lei jumped in, and kicked him through the glass in the gift shop. Another thug wanted to challenge Lei, as he sends in a roundhouse kick, sending the poor thug to hit the glass in the jewelry shop.
Lei used the clothes rack to his advantages as the thugs tried to take him out with a baseball bat. Lei managed to deflect their attacks with the clothes rack and managed to pivot his body to kick a thug all the way onto a glass display. Lei then smacked a guy with a mirror, causing it to shatter as he fell unconscious.
A thug, however, did manage to get in a few hits in as Lei found himself hitting another glass display. He grimaced in pain as the glass cut his flesh. In retaliation, Lei quickly did a spinning double kick, sending the poor thug spiraling into a shelf full of glass statues as every single one of the statues shattered. The unlucky thug was immediately knocked unconscious.
Zakk made a clean getaway as Lei was now face-to-face with Donovan. He marches in fury as he approaches the Brit who seemed genuinely scared.
“I’m sorry! Look we can make a deal! I'll give you lots of money!”
“Fuck you!” Lei hissed before throwing a barrage of punches as his adversary before eventually uppercutting him.
Donovan flew up into the air, landed in a cart, as it slid down, eventually colliding with another glass display case. He was immediately unconscious from that.
The rest of the detectives arrive to cuff everyone as Shun approaches Lei.
“You saved me. Why?”
Lei let out a heavy exhale. “Because you’re my son.” He gave the boy a warm smile.
------------------------------------------- Elise, Zakk, Cheyenne, and Li-Mei all stood outside a building as they waited for Lei to step out. He did, along with Shun. He shows the paper that says that Shun has been officially adopted.
“He’s officially my son now!” Lei shouted.
Cheyenne smiled big. “Alright! Group selfie-time! Say cheese!”
Everyone got into the picture as Cheyenne took the group selfie. Everyone managed to fit in the photo as well as a certificate saying that Shun has been officially adopted.
“Lei Shun, welcome to the family.” Lei finally said.
The whole family then gave Shun a huge group hug.

We have another non-Tekken related one-shot. Though you can see some similarities between the two characters to everyone's favorite power couple! Well, that's because Alise and Jack, honesty are based on the og Alece and Lei from the old rp. And now Lei and Elise... are derived from... JACK AND ALISE! I know, confusing, right? Well, it was originally just me feeling like writing smut with Jack and Alise... but then I wrote the smut halfway through and got totally bored. So I just made like a totally clean version. I find that I'm only able to write smut for only about a week once a month. Rest of the month, I find it boring. Hence why I haven't updated the 50 Shades lately. It's not my time of the month. Anyway without further ado, enjoy this bit of romance. Doesn't help that I literally write Lei and Jack almost the exact same.
Here's the context: It's August of 1995. Alise Yurkovskaya is an illegal immigrant from Ukraine with a checkered past. She moved to America in order to escape her past and create a positive environment for her two children, aged 3 and 2, to grow in and thrive. However, she is offered a job to assassinate an important political figure who fights against the growing crack epidemic in Smith County, Tennessee. She declines the offer, gets framed, and her two children are taken away. On top of this, she also finds out that her boyfriend of six months and a low-ranking member of Donny's gang, Jack Fong, is actually an undercover FBI agent sent to infiltrate the crack empire.
Anyway enjoy!
Jack and Alise Hook Up
Alise ran as fast as she could, running where her little feet would take her. She found herself totally out of breath after dashing for a few hundred yards. However, she took refuge in a barn. The police stormed the area as the petite woman took refuge under a pile of hay. Alise had been handcuffed by a crooked cop (She was turning herself in) who took her to Donny. To make matters worse, one of Donny’s associates is fostering her kids. She fought off everyone tooth and nail, but not without sustaining a few injuries of her own. Namely the slash on her upper arm, and the cuts and bruises on her wrists from the handcuffs. The hay mixed with whatever feces or urine in the barn caused her cuts to burn. Alise remained hidden, as she heard the crooks eventually leave the barn. After several minutes pass, Alise managed to climb out of the hay, but the barn doors were closed now. The only way out was to climb a ladder. And without her arms, this was going to be difficult. She eventually made it to the top floor after falling down several times. She then finds the shutter. She kicks it open as she rolls on her side and falls, landing on her stomach with a thud. Finally, she was free and she had no idea what to do or where to go. She could start by trying to get the handcuffs off. She honestly had no idea where to begin, but walked a long path through the woods until she found herself in someone’s backyard. She slinks into a shed and manages to find a workbench with a vice grip. She puts the hacksaw on the grip and placed the chain on the hacksaw as she moved her wrists back and forth. She eventually gets freed and just before she could celebrate, she heard the homeowners open their door. Thinking fast, she quickly jumped and climbed in the dirt bed of the pickup that had empty beer bottles, rusted garden tools, and fishing supplies. However, the truck was soon in motion as Alise found herself along for the ride. After what felt like an hour trapped in the truck, Alise heard the engine stop as the driver steps out. A few minutes pass before she eventually crawled out of the cream-colored Chevy pick-up. She found herself at a tractor supply store with a service station attached to it. She limps to the payphone that was located just outside the entrance. It wasn’t until she realized that she didn’t have a wallet. Thankfully, she managed to borrow 25 cents and a cigarette from a generous employee. Alise thought about who she was going to call. She could call Lisa to come and get her, but she’s not sure if she would be of help. She then pondered on her neighbor, Jessica. Eventually, Alise figured that the best person to call in this situation would be none other than Special Agent Jack Fong, himself. He would be the only person who she knows believes her story. After inserting the quarter as she smoked, she dialed his number. He answered within half a ring. It was almost as if he was waiting on her to call him.
“This is Jack, how may I help you?”
“Jack! It’s me! Alise!”
“Hey! How’d it go?”
It was actually his idea for her to turn herself in so that she could at least get interrogated and be somewhere safe from Donny’s men. However, it backfired on her in unexpected ways.
“…Jack… Donny’s taken over the whole precinct.”
“…FUCK!” She heard him slam something in the background. “I should have expected this! Where are you now? Are you okay?”
“I got into a little bit of a scuffle, but I’m fine now… I’m over at the tractor-supply store.”
“Okay. I’ll be there in a few, okay? We’ll talk more about this later. In the meantime, take care of yourself, okay?”
“Alright. Thanks.” Alise smiled.
“You’re welcome.”
She hangs up from the phone and finishes her cigarette. She sits on the sidewalk, as she looks quite tattered in appearance, and she doesn’t smell too good either. She kept her face hidden as there was no doubt that the corrupt police are all looking for her. Luckily, Jack showed up in that two-toned Dodge. She didn’t hesitate to jump in and buckle her seat-belt. Jack quickly pulled out of the parking lot and headed to his apartment.
“You alright?” He asked again, with concern in his dark eyes.
Alise sighed as she placed her hand in her face. “Does it look like I’m fucking alright? This was your plan!”
“And I was naïve to think that Donny really didn’t have that much influence over politics in Smith County.”
“As I told you before, Donny owns Smith County!”
“Yeah. I guess I should have known, considering how rich and powerful he is. Looks like he’s getting greedy and wants to take over the world and expand his drug empire even more.”
Alise nods as she crosses her arms. “And now, he’s holding my two children hostage.”
“What?”
“The foster parents are working for him. When he offered me the job, he kept mentioning my children, and then when I backed out, he simply asked me, ‘You don’t want anything bad to happen to those innocent kids, do you?’ I didn’t realize it was a threat until now.”
“He said that? What do you think he’s going to do?”
Alise shook her head. “I have no clue. Maybe he might turn them into super-assassins like they did to me.”
She immediately hung her head down, reminiscing of the childhood that she was deprived of. She moved to America so her two kids wouldn’t suffer the same fate. It looks like no matter what she does, history will repeat itself. At a red light, Jack placed his hand on Alise’s shoulder. He could only imagine the pain and sorrow that she feels.
“Nothing bad is going to happen to your kids, okay? I promise.”
“Nothing better happen! Or else I will come for Donny, and make sure I put his head on a stake!”
“Calm, down, okay? Listen, we're going to take down Donny and rescue Anastasia and Zakhariya, okay?”
“How are we even going to do that?!"
“I plan on throwing the book at him and making sure he rots in his cell. I refuse to let him go around poisoning the youth and using your kids as collateral for the job.”
“Though why do you need me?”
“Look, you're the only lead I have on this case. You're a witness.”
“And who is going to believe me then? Huh?" Alise crossed her arms as she sighed.
"I believe you! And I'm sure the prosecutor will, too! And your kids! We just need to dig deeper! We need to find evidence that he's holding your children hostage."
"How will we do that?”
"I'm going to have to look into his bank account, and try and see if I can find proof that he hired your toddlers' foster parents."
"I see. How will you accomplish such a task?"
"I've got men on the inside working on this. I've got the connections."
"And why can't I just kill him?"
"Because it will cause civil unrest and create a power-vacuum. If we take down his empire, we should be able to prevent any more drug kingpins from rising. Killing him allows someone to take his place, and that person will be much worse than Donny."
Alise nods. "I see. Cutting off the head doesn't fix the problem. It will cause a lot of blood to pour and create an even bigger mess than simply poisoning him."
"Heheheh... yeah... uh... great metaphor." Jack rubbed the back of his head nervously. "Exactly. You put the nail in the coffin!"
The two finally arrive at the apartment as Jack helps walk Alise inside. He sets her down on the bed as he makes his way to the kitchen and grabs her a bottle of beer. She drinks it down quickly, as the buzz calmed her down a bit. Jack immediately tended to her wounds with his first aid kit. He took care of the slash on her leg, put some ointment on the bruises on her wrists, sustained from the handcuffs, and bandaged up all the cuts and scrapes on her arms. He also managed to unlock the handcuffs that remained on her wrists. Finally, he takes off her tattered blouse and takes notice of huge blotches of purple on her torso. He wondered what had happened. Jack felt sour about this whole situation. It was his fault. He was just trying to protect Alise. He honestly didn’t expect the local police to be working for Donny. He honestly should have known. The least he could do now is take care of Alise.
Jack take a seat on the edge of the bed next to Alise. He reaches out for her hand, gently placing it in his hands. Alise blushed in response, welcoming the kind gesture.
“Your wounds… they need some time to heal. Why don’t you stay here awhile?”
“What do you mean?”
“I think you should relax for a bit.” He caresses her hand while staring into those deep emerald pools. “You can stay here with me…”
Alise was confused. She honestly didn’t expect this from Special Agent Jack Fong. And… their “fake” relationship… was it real for him, too? Did Jack genuinely develop feelings for her, too? She always thought that the reason why he was protecting her was because he needed her to take down Donny. While he had her fooled, she couldn’t get over him. She told herself that Jack never really cared for her. He was only after Donovan… but it appears that he’s returning her feelings. She was very much speechless and didn’t know exactly what to say.
She stared into Jack's obsidian eyes. She could have sworn that the room became hotter as the distance between the two got smaller. These were genuine emotions that they were feeling right now.
Alise trembled as Jack’s warm hand made its way to her left cheek. He caresses it as he leans closer. The woman’s heart pounded with excitement and anticipation.
“I can take care of you…”
The two stared at each other for a moment before Jack pulled Alise closer as he leaned in to envelope Alise’s small mouth with his own. She responded by tilting her head to give Jack more room to kiss her. She moaned softly as she opened her mouth to let Jack kiss her intensely.
Later on that evening, Alise woke up safely secured in the American's arms. She had her cheeks resting firmly against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. Eventually, she woke him up.
“Hm? What time is it?”
Alise glanced at the clock on the nightstand adjacent to the bed. “It’s 2:31 AM.” She recited.
“Too early…” He muttered as he sat up, Alise, doing the same as she sat next to him. “Unless you want us to go for another round? I’m down.” He grinned big.
Alise giggled and ran her hands across his face. “I might take you up on that offer. But seriously, I need to know… what happens now?”
Jack placed his hand over her hand. “Well, you hide out here for a few days while your wounds heal up I get m_”
“No. That isn’t what I meant. I’m talking about us.’”
“Oh. Well… I mean… I should meet your kids.”
“You'd do that?”
“I mean yeah. Look, these six months that I spent with you… it was real for me, too.”
“It was?”
Jack nods. “Well, at first, it wasn’t. I had an undercover job to do. And I figured dating you would prevent me from blowing my cover, and you were a person of interest in our investigation. So kill two birds with one stone. Then… well, I fell in love.”
“So… this 'fake' relationship wasn’t fake at all.”
“Yeah. The moment we went on our third date, I started to have genuine feelings for you. I consulted my handler. He suggested that I just end it. But I couldn’t. I genuinely wanted to know more about you. Not for my mission. But because… I liked you. Then when you ask about our future… I obviously beated around the bushes because I couldn’t tell you that I was an undercover agent. But now that you know… and we all came forth with the truth… we can continue the relationship.”
Despite what happened, Alise wanted to continue. This time making this relationship real. If Jack is willing to commit now, so is Alise.
“After Donny is taken care of…”
“You can move in with me.”
“All the way out to DC? I can’t_”
“No, I plan on resigning and staying here. It’s a very peaceful town… and I want to be here for you. Plus, my parents would adore you.”
Alise wraps her arms around Jack’s neck and kisses him on his cheek. “I would love to meet your parents.”
“You will meet them soon.” He kisses her back. “We should schedule a road-trip to Florida on Thanksgiving.”
“That would be fun.”
“I can’t wait to show you off to my family!”
“Of course… that will be after I get myself cleaned… and we stop Donny.”
“Yes. We’ll do this. Together.”

Elise and Lei Buy A Car The couple woke up the next morning with the sound of the alarm clock. Lei quickly got up, took a shower, and then prepared breakfast while Elise slept in a little. She heard the pitter-patter of Li-Mei's feet running down the stairs. Elise eventually drifted off back to sleep. Just an hour or so later, Elise got out of bed, revealing her large, round tummy. She was now 28 weeks pregnant. Elise did attempt to find a job, but due to her twin pregnancy and her body’s reaction to it, it was best that Elise didn’t go to work. Lei went through therapy as promised, and returned to work. Elise wanted Lei to stay home with her, but they needed the income. Thankfully, the Royal Hong-Kong Police Force looks after their own, and were able to send checks to the family while Lei was out of work due to “paid emotional leave”. But still, they only had two more months before Elise would be in labor. Lei had only returned to work just a few weeks ago, and the couple still haven’t had time to do anything else for the twins. Elise ate the leftover breakfast and waited until Lei returned from taking the kids off to school. Eventually, Lei returned, hanging his jacket up on the coat rack. Thankfully, today is his day off. Lei then takes a seat at the table. “Good morning. How are you feeling?” “A little tired.” “Do you feel like going out today?” “Yeah. What do you have in mind?” “Well, I have noticed something, love.” “What is it?” “So between you and I, we have one car.” Elise nods. “It’s the ancient Pontiac I drove at work for a long time.” “And?” “We can only seat up to five.” “Yes? And?” “After the twins are born, how many people are going to be living in this house?” Lei leaned forward. Elise counted everyone on her fingers, but then realized what Lei was saying. “Six. Six occupants.” “And how many people can our car transport again?” “Five.” “Yes. Five seats. Six people. Do you see the problem?” “We need to buy a bigger car!” “Yes! Exactly!” Lei blurted. “So, we're going to buy a car today?” Lei nods. “In fact, I saw a car at the police impound lot that I've decided to buy.” “And you want me to come see it?” “Yes. It’s going to be our car. So tell me, do you feel like going out today to go look at a car?” “Yeah sure. We need to get ready for the twins. How are we going to drive home from the hospital without the right car?” Lei nods. “Exactly. Come.” Lei stands up and helps Elise to her feet. “Let’s get you all dressed up and read to go.” “What kind of car are we getting?” Elise asked Lei as she was now in the passenger's seat of Lei’s car. She was dressed up in a large maroon sweater-dress and black tights with brown Mary-Janes. Lei was dressed in a tan suit jacket, cyan dress shirt, and brown plaid pants with matching brown shoes. Lei and Elise both were dressed up fancy. Elise had been flipping through the booklet that had all the cars for sale at the impound lot as Lei was driving. “It’s a Mercedes Benz E-Class Wagon. I have it circled.” Elise flipped through the booklet and saw the vehicle that Lei had circled. “Ooh! Wulong! Wow! That’s fancy!” “Yeah. It’s also an AMG model.” “AMG model?” “It means it goes fast!” “Well, we don’t need that do we?” “I need a little bit of power. C'mon.” “Well… if it makes you happy…” “You’ll love it, Elise!” The couple then arrive at the impound lot. Lei walks up to the silver Mercedes and shows it off to Elise. She was impressed and amazed at the car. However, she was quite skeptical of the rear-facing third row seat. Lei told Elise that they can just put Li-Mei and Shun back there. “Wulong, I think we should get a minivan.” “But I think a wagon would be nice. After all it’s an 'estate'.” Lei said, trying to sound fancy. “The Mercedes is nice, I admit. But it’s too cramped. It’s still a car that is low to the ground. We need something higher… with easier access to the seats. It’s going to be difficult to put in child seats in this tiny car.” Lei crossed his arms and sighed. Elise was right. It’s going to be difficult to put the seats in such a small car. The couple can’t afford a family car and a sports car at the same time. When they buy a car that will fit the entire family, it has to be one that both Elise and Lei would like since the couple is going to have to share a car. Not to mention, Li-Mei also has to sit in a booster seat as well. Lei was just going to have to swallow his pride and get a minivan. “Hey check this out!” Elise said, dragging Lei to a Chrysler Pacifica. “Look at it! It looks nice and clean and…” as soon as Elise opened the door, she almost puked. Lei immediately closed the door. “This car was used in a murder. And… well, if you want it, well… we have to wash out the interior and have a professional detailer fix it right up for us.” He leaned on the van. “Give 'em a few weeks and it will be ready just in time for the twins!” “Honey…” “Yes, my sweet Bun-Bun?” “Can we just not buy a car from the impound lot?” “Why not? All my cars come from impound lots! They have all been reliable cars!” “I just want to go visit a dealership.” “Now why would you do that?” Lei put both hands on his hips. “Because I want to see what they have to offer.” “Stealerships take your money. That’s all they do.” “But don’t you want to at least have a warranty on a car?” “Tch. I can fix a car all on my own. I don’t need to waste money on something that I don’t need!” Elise frowned. “Look, I want a brand new car. Not some car that was involved in a murder case! Do you really think I want that van? Do you know the story behind this car?” Elise said, kicking the tires to some old car before it immediately collapsed on itself. Lei shrugged. “Hell if I know.” “Exactly! What about that Mercedes? What happened to it?” “It was stolen. The vehicle was later dumped in the mountains. But we recovered it. Not a single scratch, Elise. We can get a really good deal on it.” “What about the owner?” “They weren’t interested. But hey, one man's trash is another man’s treasure. So, what do you say?” “I would much rather have that Pacifica over there, but brand new with the warranty.” “I see your point. I tell you what, let’s go bid on that car. And if we don’t win, we'll go buy a car at the Buick dealership. How's that sound?” “Unfair. Because we’re going to win the auction!” Lei smirked. “Yeah, glad you see it my way now. This car is good as ours. I already bought it last night.” “YOU WHAT?” “Look, Elise, that Mercedes Benz is the perfect car for this family. I placed the bid on it last night and I… lost?” Lei and Elise were now standing in front of the ticket master. “Detective Lei, someone else placed a higher bid on that car than you did.” Lei groaned as Elise smirked. “Do you have anything similar to it?” “We have this Patrol sitting out back for you. But here’s the catch – It was stripped.” “Sure thing. We can work with that.” The man walked the couple to where a frame sat on some blocks. “You said this was a Nissan Patrol.” “I said it was stripped.” “You didn’t tell me it was gutted!” “That’s going to the junkyard.” “Ya’ don’t say! I’m willing to bet that bastard who bought that AMG doesn’t even have a girlfriend!” Elise then smiled. “Well, looks like we’re buying a perfectly brand new car from Buick now! Like you promised?” “Yeah… like I promised…” On the drive to the Buick lot, Lei seemed distraught. Elise was curious as to what was wrong with Lei. “You were really looking forward to that Mercedes.” “No kidding.” “I mean… do you really not want a minivan?” Lei was silent for a moment before speaking. “Elise, the day you proposed to me, I was looking in the future. I was looking forward to you and I settling down. And I foresaw my retirement at age 55. So I was going to get a Corvette.” “A Corvette?” “Yeah. So when I found out that you was pregnant, I was like, 'That's okay. I can just get me a sporty sedan. No problem. ‘Vettes are overrated anyway.’ So then, when I found out that we were having twins… I realized that the sports car wasn’t going to happen.” “Oh so is this what it’s about?” “Elise, I'm getting old. I’m about to be a dad. I’m settling down. Everything is happening at once… it’s going to take some getting used to.” “Yeah… I know how you feel. It’s going to take some getting used to. This is why we tackle this together. Wulong, why don’t we look at it like this: this is a new chapter in our life. You’re not losing anything. You’re gaining a new family.” “Yeah. I am, aren’t I?” “You’re not alone. We're not alone. We're together!” Lei smiled. “Yeah. All six of us. We're a family now.” “So, we're going to walk into the Buick dealership and buy us a minivan, yes?” Lei nods. “Yes.” “That’s the spirit!” The couple arrived at the dealership as they parked their car. Lei and Elise walked in the showroom. They saw all the new Buicks for sale. Lei spoke to the receptionist who informed them that a salesman will be right with them momentarily. As the couple waited, Elise pointed at a Buick wagon. “Wulong, you want that one?” Lei looked at the wagon. It was a Buick Regal Tour X. Lei shook his head and pointed at the Buick minivan, the GL8. “You sure?” “Yes, Elise. I think we should get the minivan.” The salesman soon walked up with a brochure. “So, I see you two are looking at a van. And congratulations you two. Is it a boy or girl?” “We don’t know. We're going to wait until they’re born before we find out.” “Very noble. So will this be your first?” “Fourth. We're having twins. We already have a five-year-old and an eleven-year-old at home.” “I see. And are you looking to do a trade?” “Yes.” Elise was surprised to hear that. Lei was going to trade in the Pontiac? “We'll do the paperwork on this later, right now, let’s see what vans we've got out there for you two.” The salesman then handed them the brochure. “I'll let you two decide which one you want and we’ll seeing we have one on the lot and if not we’ll order it for you.” Lei nods. He and Elise both went through the brochure and circled what they wanted. Elise and Lei both arrived at the school where the kids were in their new van. The van itself was totally brand new, slate grey in color. The kids got in the van, enjoying the brown leather interior, the DVD screen from the ceiling, and the nice new car smell. “Baba, is this our new car?” “Yes, Li-Mei it sure is.” “Really nice… I like it.” Shun added. “What happened to the white car?” Li-Mei asked. “I traded it for this one.” Lei said. “Oh! This is our only car?” Lei nods. “Yep. It will be for awhile now.” Elise was surprised that Lei was accepting that he won’t be getting that sports car any time soon. She honestly looked forward to what was in store for them. And maybe see how Lei makes that smooth transition into settling down in a simple quiet life. Elise, too, was going to have to do the same. However, Elise is ready to settle down into a nice, quiet, cozy life. She’s done with the drama and madness with the Zaibatsu. She wants to live out the rest of her life living peacefully with her husband.

Elise and Lei Have The Twins Elise was now 36 weeks. So far, everything is doing fine despite having to be put on bed rest at 28 weeks in order to prevent early labor. Thankfully, Shun stepped in and started helping out with the chores and took care of his mom while Lei was out working. Elise enjoyed having Lei take care of her. He would feed her, give her a bath, and even give her back massages and play with the twins. Lei managed to get twenty days of paid paternity leave. He planned on spending ten of those days prepping for the labor, and then ten more of those days helping Elise recover. The doctor expected Elise to give birth at the 37-week mark, granted she stay in bed. Lei started his leave at 35-weeks. He was going to be back two weeks after the babies are born. Lei wished he had more time, but with his mother-in-law volunteering to look after the twins and Shun taking on a lot of responsibilities in the household, Elise should have all the help she needs and should be able to recover. However, Elise was very ill. She has been since she found out about her pregnancy… and unfortunately the further along the line she is in her pregnancy, the sicker she became. As a result, Elise was unable to find herself a job, nor was she allowed to drive a car. On top of this, due to a combination of this being Elise’s first pregnancy that made it past the first trimester, her old age, and carrying twins, Elise’s blood pressure would often fluctuate, sometimes resulting in fainting spells throughout the day. That would deem it unsafe for her to operate an automobile. Lei hoped Elise would recover from this once the twins were born. Shun was at home with Elise, sitting on the bed next to her. Lei had gone out to grab donuts for Elise as she for some odd reason started craving donuts. Li-Mei had left and was gone with Lei, as Shun stayed behind with his mother. “You feeling alright, Mom?” “Yeah, I just need to eat something sweet and sugary is all.” Elise rubbed her abdomen, feeling the twins kicking her. Their kicks have gotten more intense than usual and a recent ultrasound showed that the twins will wrestle with each other in the womb. Elise wondered if that’s what she was feeling right now. Or they were both trying to get out of the womb. Could explain the sudden doughnut cravings. Shun placed his hand on Elise's womb as well, feeling the twins kicking as well. “They sure are very lively.” He smiled. “I can’t wait to be a big brother…” “It’s a lot of work and responsibility.” Elise said. “But I think you can easily handle it.” “All I wanted was a better mother. I wanted an amazing dad. I wanted a place where I had a mother and a father who loves me. I didn’t want to become some junkie like my parents. I really wanted to leave… but it was hard. I’m glad Dad saved us… and you adopted us.” She places a hand on top of Shin’s hand. “It’s simply amazing, isn’t it?” “What is?” “Between the three of us… we all wanted the same thing.” “What do you mean?” “You, me, and Wulong… we all just wanted a family. And somehow we all found each other…” “Yeah… you’re right. That is pretty amazing.” “It’s all really meant to be.” Eventually, Lei and Li-Mei both returned with the food. Lei handed Elise the entire box of donuts and sat Li-Mei down on the foot of the bed. He stood by Elise, watching as the woman ravages her meal. “Why is she hungry?” “Well, the babies wanted some donuts.” Lei explained. “Can babies really do that from the womb?” “Yeah, they sure can.” “Did I do that with Mama?” “Yep, you sure did.” Lei smiled. “What did I want?” “You wanted potato chips.” “Ooh! That’s why I love potato chips so much!” “Certainly explains it.” Elise smiled warmly at Lei. Shun did the same. They both enjoyed watching Lei interact with Li-Mei. It was always such a cute sight to see. “You also wanted ice cream and nuts. And pickles, too.” “Ooh. I love fried pickles and I love having nuts in my ice cream, too!” “See?” This peaceful moment was soon interrupted by Elise feeling something gush from between her legs. She looked up at everyone sheepishly. “Um… Shun, Li-Mei, do you two mind? I need some privacy with Wulong.” Shun grabbed Li-Mei and left the room as only Lei stood by. “Wulong, I peed in the bed.” “Well, um… that’s awkward.” Lei admitted. “Yeah. Just need you to help get me cleaned up.” “Alright.” Lei removed the sheets and noticed the wet spot. He helped Elise out of bed, as she continued to drip urine, as Elise got some of it on Lei. “Are you okay? You’re peeing a lot.” “I can’t stop it… it just keeps leaking.” “I probably should have gotten you a bedpan.” “Wulong, now is not the time to joke! You already know, the twins are smashing my bladder.” “And well... urine-trouble.” Elise groaned at Lei’s clever pun. “Why do you always do this to me?” “Well, I gotta keep you on your toes. We don’t want any accidents, now do we?” Lei smirked. Elise groaned once more, but quickly fell down, but Lei caught her. She was writhing in pain. “Oh…” “Elise, honey, are you okay? Do we need to go to the hospital?” “…Wulong…. I think my water may have actually broke.” “Hm?” “I feel it…” She places her hand on her swollen abdomen. “These contractions… The twins! They are coming!” “But they weren’t supposed to be born but for another week!?” “I know… but they’re ready to meet us.” “Okay…” Lei then lifted Elise off the ground, carrying her back to the bed. He sets her down on her side. “Alright. Let me help you get dressed so we can go to the hospital.” “Okay…” Elise took in several deep breaths. Lei went fishing for Elise’s clothes and once he got her dressed, he instructed her to lie back down. “Wait here, I'm going to bring the car around.” “Okay.” The couple eventually made it to the hospital and checked in as they put Elise on the hospital bed. The doctors examined her before finally speaking with Lei. “She hasn’t started labor just yet. But I think we should go ahead and induce the labor to prevent a risk of infection.” Lei nods. “I suggest that to prevent any more complications, we should proceed with a C-Section.” “Can she deliver vaginally?” “Yes, but there will be complications.” “What kind?” “Hemorrhaging and a possible stroke.” Lei ran his fingers through his hair, thinking through his options. “Well, my wife wanted to deliver vaginally. We knew the risks. And we're willing to see it through.” “Alright. We'll do what we can.” Lei then makes his way to the hospital room. He looks at Elise who was resting on her side. She clutches her abdomen as the formerly lively woman looked to be in so much pain. Lei hoped that she would deliver soon. “So… what is going to happen?” “They’re going to induce the labor.” “Oh… good!” He rests his hand on the top of her head and kisses her forehead. “Yeah. Pretty soon, we're going to meet our two sons.” “Yes. Or daughters.” “Well, I mean, going by the Chinese calendar… we’re having a pair of sons.” “But we're going to be a happy family together.” “Yes. We are.” He then pats her tummy. “We’ll be meeting them very soon.” The doctor returned and gave Elise a shot. This was some hormone that will get her body to begin the cervix dilation. “So, do you want an epidural?” “No.” “Are you sure? It’s going to hurt. Like. A lot.” “How would you know?” Elise asks Lei. “Besides that, epidurals slow down the labor and increases the chances of vaginal tearing. I'd rather writhe in agony if it means I get to keep my lady parts intact. Especially since I plan on having sex again after these twins are born.” Lei chuckled nervously at Elise’s last comment. “Um… well, that is literally the last thing on my mind, um, no offense…” “None taken.” Elise sighed. “I mean, you’re still attractive. It’s just… I don’t want our kid's earliest memory is getting covered in Dad-sauce.” “So disgusting! Like you won’t even_” “That’s why I can’t think about sex right now.” “I understand.” Elise laid there, as she fought through the pain. She was prepared for what was next. “Besides this, I want to experience everything. The pain and joy of childbirth. Because I want to experience motherhood.” Lei understood how Elise felt. This is her first time carrying a child in the womb and she wants the full experience because after this, they were going to shut down the baby-making factory. All they really needed was one child. But they got twins, which is okay. Lei figured that the healthy twins that Elise miscarried were reborn. And now that they were both ready for kids, he and Elise were going to give those twins the amazing and wonderful gift of life. Within 15 hours later, Elise was now ready to deliver. She had been resting and lying on her side, taking in several deep breaths as she waited for the babies to come. When she declared that she was ready, the doctors noticed that her cervix has officially dilated and now she’s crowning. Elise then quickly got into position, crouching as she sat up. Lei stood by her side through the whole thing, keeping her calm. It hurt him, seeing Elise in agony because of something they did, but she knew the risks, and she knew what would happen. Lei just hoped that there weren’t any complications as he knows that with Elise’s advanced age, a million things could possibly go wrong. But he wasn’t going to let that ruin his day. Lei was going to be optimistic about it and believe that everything was going to be okay. He looks forward to meeting their kids. He also had to set an example for Elise. Show her that optimism will get you through the worst things in life. After all, this is really how he survived a rough life. Life is so much less miserable when you’re optimistic, and you have the right partner by your side. “Alright, Dr. Lei, we need you to push.” Elise nods, taking in several deep breaths as she pushed. She was in so much pain and agony. She probably should have gotten an epidural, as this is the most painful thing she’s gone through in life. But she couldn’t numb herself to it. After all, most women don’t get epidurals during childbirth, and Elise just had to endure it. She has endured her miserable life so far. As she pushed, Lei placed his hand on top of Elise’s head, and another hand holding her hand. He allowed her to squeeze his hand. Lei could have sworn that Elise probably broke his hand, but it didn’t matter. He could only imagine the pain that she is going through. It was more than likely far more intense than the pain that Lei feels from getting his hand crushed. After all, it was just a taste of what Elise is experiencing right now. She screamed loudly, causing Lei’s ears to ring. She screamed as though her life depended on it. Worst part though, she has to do it again for the other baby. Elise focused her attention entirely on Lei, her mind tracing back to their first meeting, their proposal, when she fell in a coma after saving Lei from getting crushed by a collapsing building, and even to their wedding. All these experiences gave her the strength to push and endure the pain and concentrate on getting the baby out in the world. Elise couldn’t stop but think about the amazing two lives that they both created together. Eventually, baby number 1 came out after four hours of pushing on and off. Lei was proud of Elise. She was indeed as strong as she says she is. The doctors tap the baby, and soon the little child began crying. They cleaned the baby up a bit, as they had Lei cut the cord. He held the baby in his arms for a moment before allowing Elise to hold the baby in her arms. After a few moments with her child, the nurses take him and put him in an incubator. Lei then goes back to tending to his wife. He kisses Elise on her forehead. Now it was time for baby number 2. “I was right, Elise… it’s a boy.” “That means the other one will be a boy, too…” She smiled in spite of the pain. “What are we naming him?” “His Chinese name, Lei Shenlong. What’s his Western name?” “Nikolaj Aleksander Lei.” Elise added. “I don’t know if that’s going to fit on the birth-certificate, honey.” “Oh… it will!” “So, his full name is… Nikolaj Aleksander Lei Shenlong. That’s a mouthful…” Elise smiled. “It has a nice ring to it.” “Well, we’ll see what happens with baby number two.” Lei smiles. Elise pushed out the second baby. Took her about twenty-seven minutes this time. The baby boy cried as Lei cut the cord. He held the baby once more, and allowed Elise to take a look at him before the nurses took him away as well. Now she had to push out the placenta, which Lei was keen on eating for the next few days. He was slightly upset that Elise wasn’t interested in eating it, but he understood that this is just their cultural differences. He’s not going to force her to do something she doesn’t want to do. But it would really help her recover if she just ate it. “I’m naming him Leonidas Pitor Lei.” Elise said, declaring the name of their second-born. “Lei Bailong.” Lei added. “So… Leoniads Pitor Lei Bailong?” Lei nods. “Yeah. I don’t know why you Westerners have such a fetish with these long names that you never say?” “Tradition, Wulong. Tradition.” Elise smiled. “Plus, it sounds good to shout when they are in trouble.” Lei chuckled. “You’re right. But how do we know what name they’ll go by?” “We should let them decide. For now, we can call them by their Chinese names. It’s short and simple to say.” “Yes. Of course.” However, this peaceful moment was cut short when Elise immediately went unconscious. Lei tried to snap Elise awake as doctors immediately monitored her vitals. “We’re losing her!” Lei noticed that Elise’s heart rate was dropping. Lei wasn’t going to accept this. “She’s bleeding a lot! We’re going to have to put her in surgery!” “Elise, we had plans! Who’s going to take care of the kids when you’re gone! How am I supposed to carry on without you!?” Elise felt that unfortunately, this is her time. She fought as hard as she could to stay on Earth, but ultimately, she was too tired and too weak. “You’re not going down without a fight! Elise! Please! Hang on!” However, be it divine intervention, or just luck, Elise’s heart rate went back up, color returned to her skin, and her body started repairing itself. Lei heard a familiar female’s voice… "This is the last of my strength… you two deserve to be happy together… farewell my child…"Elise eventually opened her eyes and smiles at Lei as doctors were baffled. Immediately, Lei kisses his wife several times before he holds her close. “You scared me for a second… I thought I lost you... Looks like my ancestors gave you a second chance.” Elise smiled. “I think it was Drusilla’s will…” “Even beyond the grave… she still manages to set things right.” Not too long after, Lei had his hand patched up and taken care of. Turns out, Elise really did a number or two on his hand. He wheeled Elise around the hospital before taking her to the nursery to go see the twins. Elise was too exhausted and tired after the delivery, and wanted to rest before going to see them. Plus they had to be evaluated and made sure that they were healthy as they were pre-term births. “Look Elise, there they are! Bailong and Shenlong!” Elise smiled once Lei wheeled her over to where the twins laid. “I cannot tell who is Shenlong or Bailong…” Elise admitted. “Well, I don’t blame you. This one is Shenlong. He’s in the blue hat. Bailong is on his right in the green hat.” “So they color-coded them.” Lei nods. “That way we can tell them apart.” He reaches down and picks up Shenlong. “There, there, little guy. Here’s your mom.” He hands the baby over to Elise. The woman cradles him as the baby cooed and kept grabbing Elise’s chest. “Oh? Are you hungry?” “I think he’s trying to say hello.” Elise then rocked the baby as his eyes were closed. “I’m your mother. It’s nice to finally meet you.” The baby cooed in response, grabbing Elise even harder. “He recognizes your voice.” Lei said, occupied with Bailong. “It makes him happy. Doesn’t it, Bailong? It makes me happy! Baba is happy!” Elise smiled, swaddling the newborn infant. The two were all surrounded by babies, too. The two felt nothing but pure joy. It was a natural high from being surrounded by these babies that shared the same birthday as the twins. “I'm glad you survived.” “Yes. I am glad you survived, too.” Lei then noticed Bailong looking up at him. He took notice of his eyes. His left eye was brown and his right eye was a pale blue. “Elise, honey, look! His eyes are a different color!” Lei showed Elise Bailong. She noticed that he had one blue eye and one brown eye. “Heterochromia…” Elise whispered. “Complete heterochromia…” “Complete heterochromia?” “Complete heterochromia is extremely rare, especially when it manifests itself at birth. It can either be a mutation, or it’s totally genetic. Only one way to find out…” Elise said. “You’re going to study our sons' DNA?” “Well, of course I am. But I am just mildly curious to see what they inherited. However, I am referring to Mr. Shenlong here…” Shenlong was tuckered out asleep now. He was content and comfortable in his mother’s arms, happily napping the day away. “Oh, so if he, too has one blue eye and one brown eye…” “Then this is totally genetic! Wulong we have a relative in our family with heterochromia!” Lei then mused as Bailong appeared to smile. He squeezes his hands and looks around the room. “Well, there’s Lana, my twisted sister. She had one green eye and one red eye. She was albino, though… but Lian ended up having two green eyes, though.” Elise nods. “I am going to write a journal about this. Fret not, I am not going to run experiments on them. I am only just making observations.” “Good to know. I thought mad-scientist-Dr. Kristovitch days were over.” “They are. Now it’s curious-genetics-researcher-Dr. Lei now. As are jumping-through-explosions-detective-Lei days are over.” Lei groaned. “Yeah. I am not doing anything dangerous anymore.” Desk work is boring, but Lei wouldn’t have it any other way. He wasn’t getting any younger and it was time that he stepped down and let the younger generation take over. He has been wanting to do this for awhile now. But the stint with Chou-Su and Pai and the insurrection ensured that Lei was going to be unable to support his family and he was going to be out on the streets risking his life. Now that Elise fully supports him, waited patiently for him, and Kazuya is dead, Lei could finally get that promotion and stay off the streets so he could be a proper husband to his wife and a proper parent to his kids. He is glad he finally found the right woman to share this bright new future with. Elise smiled warmly. “I think I understand why my sister gave up her career to be a mom.” “Hm?” “Somebody has to be there for the twins. It’s not a matter of, women shouldn’t have careers. It’s more of, having a career and raising kids is a challenge. But I have settled enough in my career that I can still work from home.” Suddenly, Lei had an epiphany. Lei has been a cop for 30 years. He could theoretically retire now. Lei has worked long enough; he qualifies for an early retirement. Instead of getting promoted to captain, perhaps it was time to settle down. Elise makes more money than Lei does anyway. “Elise, don’t worry about putting your career on hold. I’ll stay home and take care of the kids.” Elise was confused. “Are you sure you want this?” “All I ever wanted was a family of my own. Given that my career choice made that impossible for me. Now, I finally have the opportunity to retire… and despite our short lives, I feel like now is the perfect time to start a family.” “Yes, we have all the resources and patience in the world. And we will be able to ensure a bright future for them.” Amelia, Shun, Pai, Chou-Su, baby Geilan, Li-Mei, Fulong, and Ying Xiao were all in the waiting room. It has been nearly two whole days now since Elise was taken to the hospital. Lei stepped out as he looked quite tired and exhausted. “Alright. The twins are officially born. We’re ready for visitors now.” Lei said as he stepped into the waiting room. “But we’ll only do two visitors at a time. So who wants to go first?” “I think I should go first.” Amelia declared. Fulong and Ying Xiao both agreed. “And I should go, too.” Fulong added. Lei nods. “Alright. Mom, Elder Brother Fulong, come with me.” The two followed the exhausted Lei into the elevator and got onto the right floor where Elise and the twins were resting. Elise and a nurse were both holding each child as Elise handed Shenlong over to Fulong and the nurse handed Bailong to Amelia. The two babies were content to be in someone’s arms, didn’t matter who. Since they could both hear Elise and Lei’s voices, they were both very calm. “Elder Brother Fulong, I want you to meet Lei Shenlong. He's the first-born of the twins.” “Hello there, my honorable nephew. It’s nice to finally meet you. You are a descendant of a very long line of soldiers and warriors… and I am sure you will live up to your ancestors.” Lei smiled and watched as his brother blessed the baby. Amelia, on the other hand, rocked the baby and sang a song to him. However, Bailong then reached out for his mother as Shenlong was very calm. “Aww, he wants his mommy…” Lei said. “You boys will get a chance to get to know me.” Amelia said. “Yeah.” Elise agreed. “She’s your Granny! She flew all the way out from Poland just to meet you guys! Isn’t that awesome!” Bailong blinked several times before closing his eyes for a nap. He must be tired. Elise let the boy go to sleep and gently rocked the baby. Shenlong then babbled and wailed. Lei took the crying infant and rocked him. However, Elise knew what had to be done. “It’s lunch-time! Ma! Fulong! Please. Give us some privacy!” Fulong and Amelia both left the hospital room as Lei and Elise swapped babies. Lei swaddles Bailong, rocking and humming at the baby. Elise removed the cloth from her chest and allows Shenlong to latch to her. The boy did as he was supposed to, and began nursing. Elise smiled and felt a sense of joy and pride as the baby nursed. Lei watched, too, carefully cradling and putting Bailong to sleep. Elise looked so benevolent, peaceful, and beautiful. However, Elise soon looked at Lei, noticing his blush. “Oh c'mon Wulong, you see my tits every day. Does it startle you to see me use them as nature intended?” Lei shook his head. “No, it’s not that. Elise… you’re just so beautiful… you’re very radiant…” Elise smiled. “Wulong, that means so much to me.” “You've never been this beautiful before…” “It’s the hormones, isn’t it? Must be a male thing. He instinctively bonds with his nursing mate just so that he can protect his family from predators and other men…” “Makes sense… Bailong, you’re gonna be smart like your Mommy!” “Yes, he will.” “You know, Elise, I have never had that many visitors come see my kids before. But I guess now, we're popular. And we got more friends.” “Yes, we were more open to the world. You and I used to build up walls. Now that we opened up again, we are surrounded by friends and family.” “Yeah. We have a lovely family now.” “Yes we do.” Lei then stroked Bailong's head. “I’m going to be the best dad that there ever was!” Elise knew that they were going to have a bright future together now. Now that she has a loving husband by her side and two kids, her life was complete. Elise was no longer alone. She finally had what she had been searching for all her life: a family. The End

Elise found herself, sitting alone on the couch, watching TV. At 20 weeks, her abdomen was much larger than before and much more noticeable. It was also impossible to hide her bump now.
Right after Elise woke up from her coma, Lei told her that they were going back to Hong-Kong. She agreed and the three returned to Hong-Kong.
However, Lei had signed up to go through 12 weeks of CBT for his PTSD and instead of regularly going to appointments, he decides to go to a mental illness house. Lei told her about it beforehand but when it came to it, Elise simply asked why.
To which Lei replied, “Since I won’t be doing police work and I will constantly be reliving my nightmares, I feel that it’s safer to let the professionals deal with it than to put you and the entire family through hell, because of a PTSD flashback that I have.”
“Wait? You’re having flashbacks? Of what?”
“Well, sometimes, I see Maya’s hand twitching on the floor there…” Lei points at the ground. “I get super hyped up and anxious… and I just have this overwhelming sense of grief and desperation…”
Elise’s eyes widened. “…You are aware of this?”
Lei nods. “I usually don’t pay attention because I know it’s not real.”
She honestly didn’t know what to say. However, Lei placed his hand on Elise’s shoulder and kisses her forehead. “This is exactly why I’m doing this. I have so much love to give. And so much love to receive. I can’t do either unless I go through with therapy.”
“Wulong… I had no idea…”
“Shhh… it’s okay… you know now. Once I’m well… I’ll be able to better care for you, and the children. And we can have a wedding.”
“A wedding?”
Lei nods. “I want the world to know how happy I am to be with you, and how I want to spend eternity with you as my partner.” He grabs Elise’s hand and kisses her ring finger to her right hand. “Honey, let’s grow old together.”
Granted, Lei did go with her when she went to her doctor's appointments. However, she really wished Lei stayed with them instead of staying at the nuthouse. Well, actually, it was really just a shelter for people who have severe cases of mental illnesses.
Still, it was very lonely without having Lei around. She missed having him tell her one of his stupid dad jokes. She missed hearing about something crazy thing that happened with Lei while he was at work. She most certainly missed waking up early in the morning with Lei and doing Chi Gong exercises with him. It was just so empty and lonely without him. It seems like the two could never be together. Any time that they want to be together, they get separated. Elise really hoped that this time, after everything that the couple has been through, they will be together… and never be separated again. That's the goal. However, Elise isn’t even sure if Lei even really wants to settle down. He says he does, yet he’s never around for anything.
Elise then noticed the time. She had to go get Shun from the bus stop. Gathering all of her strength, Elise hopped off the couch and made her way out of the condo and into the city as she sauntered down the busy streets of Hong-Kong. As she walked, she began to ponder more and more about this. Did she make a mistake, marrying Lei? Is this how things will be now? Is he going to be too busy to see the birth of his own children?
She takes a seat at the bus stop. There was no sense in hiding her baby bump. She was far too small, and her belly was far too big. She couldn’t hide it like before. At first, Elise despised all the special treatment that she was getting from strangers. She also loathed having a stranger walk up to her and ask her about the babies. However, Elise eventually got used to it and started to enjoy getting special treatment from strangers, since Lei isn’t around to give her special treatment, anyway.
The bus arrives as Shun gets off, wearing his school uniform --a white button-up top with a red tie and black pants with matching loafers.
Elise stands up and quickly hugs Shun. She holds him tightly before letting go and walking him back to the condo.
“How was school today?”
“It was alright. I’m almost caught up with my peers. It’s a good thing that I am smart, right?”
Elise nods. She was a little worried about Shun missing out on education all those years, but the boy was able to catch on. She did play a hand in his remedial education, as well. “You’re able to retain a lot of information, too.”
“School is actually kind of fun! So awesome to learn about what is in this world.” She holds Shun close to her and kisses his forehead. “I imagine that it wasn’t easy for you. I’m very proud of you. And I am sure Wulong be proud, too if he were here.”
Shun nodded. “He will be a proud father when he returns.”
“Yeah… very proud…” Elise said, sounding flat.
Good news is that Lei should return in a few weeks. Elise is super stoked about this and planned a surprise party for his return. However, until then, he isn’t by her side. She honestly was curious to see how far along he has come. Maybe he will finally be able to fully give himself to her…
“You miss him, don’t you?” Shun finally asked interrupting her thoughts.
“Oh? Um….”
“You need to keep your mind off of him! Dad wouldn’t want you to be sad!”
Elise nodded. Shun was right.
“What do you want to do?”
“Well, I want to go to a museum.”
“Then let’s go to the Hong Kong Science Museum! I always wanted to go to one! Hey, we can take Li-Mei along, too!”
Honestly, Elise would rather do this together with the family, but since she needed to do something fun, why not? “Great! Let me call Mrs. Zhang!”
As the two walked to the parking garage, Elise then dialed for Pai. After a few rings, she answered.
“Wei?”
“Pai! Hey! I’m just wondering, is it okay if I take Li-Mei out to the science museum today?”
“Hmm... is that all?” She asked.
Elise nods. “Well, I’m thinking about taking her out to eat for ice cream, too.”
“I think she would very much like that. Sure... you can come get her.”
“Alright, I will see you shortly.” Elise hung up. “Well, Shun, do you have homework to do?”
“Yes...”
“Well, why don’t we just spend some time with your sister, and then you do your homework, capish?”
“Okay? Really? That sounds good.”
“Good. Let’s go get Li-Mei.”
Elise and Shun both eventually arrived at the car. Since Elise moved in with Lei and married him, she sold her old car, and drove around Lei’s old cop car. Well, considering that Lei’s car got blown to bits by some thugs –and Lei immediately sent himself to rehab once he arrived in Hong-Kong– Elise was pretty much stuck driving around in the Pontiac. Elise didn’t mind too much since the car got her to where she needed to go. While the interior was falling apart and had definitely seen better days, the car still drove as it did when it was in service.
Once Elise arrived at her destination, Li-Mei excitedly ran to hug Elise and Shun. Pai giggled as Elise found it adorable that the little girl had a cute backpack on.
“I’m ready to go see the dinosaurs!”
She was so bright and full of energy, that little cherub. She took so much after her own father. Elise made her way to the museum as Li-Mei and Shun both chanted, “dinosaurs” over and over again. Elise didn’t mind it one bit; it always warms her heart to see children excited about science. Once at the museum, Elise purchased the tickets, and the trio were now looking at the map. Li-Mei and Shun both expressed that they wanted to see the dinosaurs. Elise honestly wanted to show them the dinosaurs for last, but since they were so excited and looking forward to it, she decided to escort them to the dinosaurs.
Li-Mei and Shun were all talking about their favorite dinosaurs as Elise explained to the children about the different dinosaurs and the timeline of the Earth. The two children were impressed with her vast knowledge about the extinct reptilian beasts that once roamed the Earth. She participated in the kid’s activities and watched 3D movies about the dinosaurs. It was certainly an eventful day indeed. Once done with the dinosaur exhibit, Li-Mei asked Elise about the field of study that she’s in. Since there was no such thing as a “Genetics Exhibit”, she instead arrived at the human body exhibit. Once more, Elise answered questions and had her own take on the organs and how everything in the human body work together.
“That’s so incredible!” Li-Mei said. “Our bodies are so amazing!”
Elise nodded. “It’s all due in part thanks to your DNA. It has like a passcode in your body and it programs your cells to grow into the organs that your body uses. And it all starts in the womb…” Elise said rubbing her abdomen. “Right now, they have all their organs. However, they’re still too small… The little twins are both the size of a banana right now… and they need more time to develop. Their tiny little brains and itty bitty lungs don’t function properly just yet.”
“But your belly is bigger than two bananas!” Shun added.
“Well, they need space to swim around, kick, eat, and sleep.” Elise added.
“How big are they gonna get?”
“Well, it honestly depends. Usually, the size of a newborn baby often depends on how large the father was as a newborn.” Elise paused for a moment as she smiled. “Wulong said he was a large baby when he was born…”
“That means the twins are gonna be big!”
“Yes, that’s true. Good thing that the female vagina is able to stretch to accommodate a newborn.”
“That’s incredible!” Li-Mei said. “I wanna be a doctor when I grow up!”
“You have a very curious mind, you’re very intelligent, I think you can do it. You’ll be the best doctor out there!”
Shun nodded. “You’ll be a great doctor, Li-Mei.”
“What do you want to do, Shun?”
“Me? Oh… well… I never really gave it much thought. I guess… I think I want to be a cop.”
“Ooh! That’s awesome!”
Once Elise got done answering the questions, she took the kids out for ice cream. It was so peaceful. Elise ravenously ate the ice cream as Shun was worried about her eating too much food. However, Elise casually pointed out that she was eating for three.
“I want those kids to enjoy ice cream as much as us!”
“Can they taste the ice cream?” Li-Mei asked Elise.
“Yes they can.” Elise said as a matter of fact. “With my umbilical cord, the food in my stomach goes right into their little bellies…” She pokes Li-Mei’s stomach.
“That’s where your belly-button comes from.”
“And the umbilical cord is cut at birth, because you no longer need it. You are able to eat food through your mouth.”
“That’s cool.”
“So that’s why I have a belly button?” Shun added.
Elise nodded. “It represents the bond that you have with your mother, how she spent all those nine months carry you, feeding you, and caring for you…”
Shun frowned at that comment.
“But… I know I will be an amazing mother to all of you kids.”
Once the family finished their ice cream, Elise was going to drop Li-Mei off at her mom’s, but she begged Elise to let her stay the night. Elise shook her head.
“Mama said she doesn’t want you staying at Baba’s house when he’s not around.”
“But I wanna hang out with you and play ponies!”
Elise nods. “I know… I know…”
“She doesn’t trust me. I know….”
“Shun, don’t be ridiculous this has nothing to do with_”
“I have seen how she looks at me. She looks at me like I’m trash.”
“Shun! Don’t say that about yourself!” Elise immediately embraces Shun. “You’re a beautiful, bright young man. If Pai fails to see that, that’s on her.”
Shun felt the twins kicking him in the embrace. He ended up hugging Elise tighter as Li-Mei soon joined the group hug. “The twins love you. I love you. Wulong loves you. Li-Mei loves you. You’re loved by us…”
The young tween sighed quietly. Still Pai was mean and unreasonable. But Elise was right. He has a happy family now, and Pai needs to get over herself.
Once the family let go, Elise took the kids back to Pai’s place as Li-Mei was left with her mother. Elise arrived back home and grabbed dinner and heated it up.
“Mom, I had fun today. Thanks for taking us out to see the dinosaurs.”
“You’re welcome. Thank you, Shun.”
“For what?”
“Keeping me and the twins company.”
“Yeah. Must be scary, tackling this pregnancy all on your own.”
Elise nods. “Yeah. But you are with me…”
“I’m going to help you and Dad out in every way that I possibly can.”
“I really appreciate it…”
“It’s the least I can do…. I uh… am excited to be a brother.”
“You’ll do well. You’ve been a good brother to Li-Mei… and to the twins already. And also, I think you would make an amazing cop like your father!”
“Dad saved me. It’s my way of giving back to the community. I want to help other kids like me.”
“That’s a noble cause. Shun, you’re a very special boy and you’re going to do good in this world. I see nothing but absolute greatness!”
“Speaking of Dad, we need to start looking at getting him a present.”
“Oh yeah? For when he gets back?”
“Yeah. Something from the both of us that he would appreciate.”
“What about a watch?”
“Well, I was thinking something more… personal.”
“Hm? What are you thinking, Shun?”
“What if we make a scrapbook with the whole family and maybe make a video celebrating his life and making him see all the good he has done for everyone.”
“That’s brilliant! Shun! You’re a genius! I think he would love that so much!”
