“Here goes...” Elise said to herself out loud.
Elise found herself at the hangar at the Mishima Zaibatsu as she was just about ready to head to Hong-Kong. The pilot and the flight attendant, as well as the other staff, helped load up Elise's suitcases in the jet.
Just as Elise was about to head out, Jin stopped her.
“Dr. Kristovitch, may I speak with you for a moment?”
Elise turned around and smiled nervously. “Um… yes…?”
“Well, how are things coming along?”
“Pretty well. Actually. Yes.” Elise felt dread. “I’m off to go fetch Wulong’s DNA.”
“For what reason?” Jin crossed his arms.
“Well, um…” Elise looked to the side as she held her arm. “Encoded in his DNA, it allows for his cells to divide faster. Allowing his body to mend itself faster. By using that, we can easily overpower the Devil Cells, combined with Genocell.”
“Interesting. Didn’t know that. Wouldn’t his son have the same gene?” Jin said, vaguely recalling Lei's son whom he was acquainted with during the third tournament. He cheered for him during the final round when Jin was going to fight Ogre. Plus it didn’t make sense to Jin for Elise to travel to Hong-Kong to collect her paramour's DNA if Zakk is right here in Japan.
Elise honestly thought that. But she was really hoping for an excuse to go see her family. “Yes, but it’s not confirmed. I have witnessed Wulong’s body repair itself first-hand.”
“And of course, we need the Kazama genes as well as Ogre’s blood.”
Elise nods.
“And another thing… I just got the doctor’s note. You’re with child, aren’t you?”
Elise gulped. There was no hiding it anymore. “Yes.”
“That’s not going to be a problem, is it?”
“No, of course not! I can still carry on with my duties.”
“You have a geriatric pregnancy. I need to treat it as a high risk. The last thing I need is for you to suddenly go into labor and have complications in the middle of the research.”
“You have nothing to worry. It’s going to be a good 6 months before I give birth. We should have a prototype of the cure by then, at least.”
“Good. Remember. I hired you to do a job. I expect you to do it.”
Elise saluted.
“Also… about our guest. He may hold the key to destroying Kazuya and myself; we shouldn’t cure him. At least not until we are both dead.”
“I… are you sure?”
“I feel like he may be the key to your research and ending the war.”
“Okay… sure…”
With another salute, Elise turned around and took her leave before Jin finally spoke once more.
“If you're going to see Lei… tell him that I need him. And also… congratulations you two.”
Elise gave Jin a thumbs up, acknowledging what he said. That gives herself an excuse to bring her family here.
Elise hopped on the jet as Jin walked away from the hangar.
He was honestly concerned about Elise. She’s a dedicated scientist, but he fears for what the war will do to her and the child in her womb. Jin remembered, his mother was tough and able to handle herself and take care of Jin on her own. Kazuya wasn’t in the picture, neither were any other relatives. This was why Jin needed Lei here at the Zaibatsu. Elise wouldn’t be as distracted and it increases the chances of Elise’s survival if the baby’s daddy is around. Jin is sure without a doubt that Lei is the father. He did wonder thought… Elise is pushing 50. How was she impregnated? Perhaps there was some truth to Lei having healing properties in his genes. When the sperm meets the egg, did the healing begin right then and there?
This is one mystery that will be left unsolved forever.
