However, he also needed to check on his brother and sister-in-law and see how the two were doing. Last time he checked, Elise was working in Japan, and Lei is dealing with the riots in Hong-Kong. While yes, indeed China wasn’t supposed to be involved with Hong-Kong politics, but it’s a war. China has every right to protect Hong-Kong at all costs. Those ignorant kids don’t see it. He never asked how Wulong feels about the whole thing, but something tells him that it’s better to say nothing. One must never discuss politics. Plus, Hong-Kong is Wulong’s home. He’s probably siding with the protesters.
”Little Wulong! Open your eyes! Little Wulong!”
Lei shook violently after being released from the mirror. Fulong and Elise both caught him, as he fell. Once he opened his eyes, Elise hugged Lei tightly and kisses him as Lei pushed Elise off of him.
“I am Lei Zhaolong. Father of Lei Wulong and Lei Fulong…”
Elise looked on in confusion as Fulong bowed. “Father, forgive her. She knows nothing.”
“I know… you are Wulong’s consort.”
“Consort! Hey! I’m not his consort! I’m his fianceé!”
Zhaolong nods. “Fulong, my son, forgive me for how I treated you. I love you and I am very proud of what you have accomplished. I should realize that you were right. With the fate of our clan, our duties to serve China has been relieved.”
“Really?”
“I see now, destiny is what one makes of themselves, it is not determined at birth. You, two.” Zhaolong turns to Elise. “You were not fated to be together. Wulong was destined to be with another… but you have my blessing.” He bows at Elise. “Take care of Wulong. Look after him. His mind is fragile and he needs support from his loved ones. This is how I was easily able to possess him.”
Fulong nods.
“He’s waking up now. I don’t have much time left. All I can say is… Fulong, fulfil your role as the family head and take care of your brother and his consort. You, Wulong’s Gwai Lo consort, bear us more descendants to this clan…”
Zhaolong then passed out before Lei eventually regained consciousness. He looked up and immediately hugged Elise. He squeezed her tightly and refused to let go of her.
“Little Wulong, you must leave!”
Lei turned his head to face his brother. He was in shock. “I can’t just leave you to die here!”
“One must be willing to sacrifice themselves in order to win a war. Little Wulong, you must leave and protect Elise! She is your future… As your brother, it is my sworn duty to protect my brother and my sister!”
“How can you do such a thing?” Lei lets go of Elise. “You don’t even know how to fight!”
“Trust me. I do. Do you want to try me?”
Lei got into his fighting stance. “C’mon!”
Elise couldn’t believe that these two brothers are fighting. She watched as Lei sent in a clawed strike at his brother as Fulong quickly caught Lei by his arm and sent in several rapid strikes, followed by an uppercut.
Lei flew up in the air and quickly landed on his feet. “Alright. I’m convinced.”
He squeezed Elise’s arm as he drags her with him as he was about to leave the ship and head for the lifeboats. “Okay… We’ll leave. Promise me that this won’t be the last time I see you!”
Fulong recalls that they were not destined to be together. He found it strange. Perhaps Wulong is right: There is no fate but of what we make.
"Perhaps I should go pay Little Wulong a visit in Hong-Kong. See how he and my sister are doing."
