Like many other children amidst the carnage, Carla suffered immense loss at an early age due to the ongoing war.
While on her way home walking with each of her parents, chaos suddenly appeared and disrupted the peace. Carla was understandably afraid before being scooped up in her father's arms. He didn't get far as both he and his wife succumbed to deadly gunfire. Even today, Carla could still recognize and see the face of her parents' murderer, smoke protruding out of twin pistols, an emotionless stare on the blonde woman's expression.
Carla nearly became a victim herself during the ordeal but received a saving grace in the form of a UN agent.
Tatyana managed to save Carla from the same fate her guardians fell to while being treated for all different injuries after huge slab of concrete fell on her. The two instantly connected at sight, Carla thankful that she was spared a grim fate. However, she cried bitterly as her parents were dead, no other family members alive either. It was then Tatyana offered to take her in as an adoption, to which the child didn't hesitate to accept and moved in with her new family.
A few years later, Carla became an older sibling to her stepbrother, Marcus. She was infatuated with him and vowed to be there for him even when the boy grew older like herself.
Another episode nearly broke her spirit.
Shortly after Tatyana and Raven returned from another deadly mission, Carla was ecstatic to have her parents at home where they belonged. But during a routine sparring session, Tatyana suddenly felt ill and fainted, placed in a medically induced coma. To make matters worse, Raven had to depart for Hong Kong to help stabilize the region due to Kazuya Mishima spreading fear and propaganda throughout the region.
It was at that moment Carla made the decision to stop living in fear or being afraid. She needed and wanted to be strong for herself and her brother. When the time came, she will be ready to defend her loved ones.
