Lei Fulong
(FC: James Lew)
(FC: James Lew)
Nationality: China
Age: 61-years-old
Birthday: August 12th, 1958
Fulong was only twleve years old when his little brother, Lei, was born. He often helped take care of his brother and looked after him. However, the two brothers weren't able to bond too well. By the time Lei was old enough to play, Fulong was already in high school hanging out with his friends, as well as his girlfriends.
Things got worse for the brothers when their father was killed, and their mother soon followed. Fulong was instructed to look after his family for his father, and that he did. He practically raised his brother, disciplining Lei, and made sure he made straight A's. Eventually, Fulong married his high school sweetheart and the two raised Lei under their roof. By that time, Lei wasn't even in middle school. Not too long after, Fulong and his wife had their son, who is Xianlong's father. He had to juggle between raising his brother and his own son.
Tension between the brothers even got higher as Lei was ditching his studies in favor of learning Martial Arts. Fulong was hesitant at first, but later allowed Wang, a friend of their father's to personally train the boy. On top of that, Lei soon became more aware of the world around him. No longer was he the naive little boy who wanted to learn Martial Arts, but rather, he was now a young teen who was interested in following his father's career path. Fulong wouldn't allow it. He did not want to risk having his brother get killed in the line of duty, and rather pushed Lei to use his intelligence and "idealistic" views in medicine. Lei wanted to find out about his father's killer and the world of catching criminals, while Fulong wanted Lei to be a scientist. Eventually their relationship hit a boiling point when Lei hit 20, he immediately used his money that he saved up to move to Hong-Kong, never saying anything to his brother, nephew, and sister-in-law.
Fulong had spent his time looking for Lei, before he finally gave up on searching for him. He then immediately assumed that he was dead somewhere. Seeing that Lei was going down that same road, Fulong focused his attention on his son, often telling him stories of how Lei was a foolish brother and how he had gotten himself killed. After no contact for 12 years, Lei approached his brother, apologizing for his actions. Fulong accepted his apology, surprised to hear that his brother was still alive. The two got along, despite Fulong's disdain for his brother's career. Eventually, Lei had to return to Hong-Kong. Fulong and his son both noted how badly Xianlong was behaving and decided to send her to Hong-Kong with Lei, hoping Lei would straighten the girl out, knowing how Lei was once an out-of control child who managed to turn out well. Lei agreed to take care of Xianlong, as he needed someone to help him take care of his dog.
Having lost his own father while he was a teenager did a tough toll on the young man. It forced Fulong to mature very quickly, as he had to look after his own brother. He is also very shrewd, strict, and often imposes his will onto others. As he often sabotaged Lei's chances of being a cop, and even tried to get Wang to show Lei how foolish Martial Arts is. Fulong, in spite of this, really cares for his family as he didn't want his brother to die a horrible death. He even welcomed his brother back after 12-years of no contact, despite still disagreeing with his brother, Little Wulong, a nickname he calls his brother even to this day.
