Opting for a simple punch kick combination and hitting nothing but air after the Brit spun to evade his strike; Hwoarang knew what was coming and winced knowing the punch would connect. Staggering back, the Blood Talon laughed while taking up his stance again.
"Son of a bitch that hurt!"
Closing in the space between the two friends, the fiery Korean ducked slightly hoping to avoid any jabs the Brit might send his way before rising into his own jab combination.

Steve sent in several jabs at his opponent, counting, "one, two, three" before eventually getting hit by the Korean's jab combination. Steve was hit by this, not able to avoid the strikes. However, he managed to quickly duck in and throw a strong left punch.

Left open as the British Boxer dodged, the Blood Talon braced himself for the strong punch that was sure to connect. Steve hit hard like a rhino and it never stopped the Korean from being amazed by it, even when he was on the receiving end. "I'm rusty. This won't due if I'm to rematch a Devil." He said, coughing a bit from being winded by the impact of the Champion's fist, taking up his stance and once again gathering his focus. Closing in the distance between him and the Brit, he sent two quick left jabs before aiming a kick to the shin and head.

"Of course! After all, you still need to be quick on your feet!" Steve said to Hwoarang after landing his hit.
Steve tried to duck the attack, but he was soon caught off-guard by a kick to his shin and to his face. Steve staggered back a little.
"That actually hurt."

Hwoarang smirked when he felt his kicks connect and send the Brit staggering back. It seems to the fiery youth that his rust might be clearing up!
"That actually hurt."
The Blood Talon chuckled as a huge grin spread across his face.
"I actually caused some pain! I'll call that progress Steve!" He laughed while rolling his neck to losen the tension building in his muscles there. Truth was Hwoarang could feel the onset of some rather nasty bruising emerging. The champ can really put a hurting on someone.

Steve then got back into his stance, quickly sending in a fast punch, followed by an uppercut. Steve then jumped back and send in a kidney punch to his opponent.
"I think I've gotten warmed up now!"

Suddenly as Steve and Hwoarang fought, a guy on a motorcycle parked in front of the dojo. The guy was already recognizable as Paul Phoenix since he wore his usual motorcycle clothes and mostly didn’t wear any helmet as he never does since he does not want to mess up his hair. Yet right now, his hair was not combed in his usual way but falling freely on the side of his head and the longer part tied up behind, like he sometimes but very rarely does. Paul then looked by the dojo’s window, and noticing Steve, he smiled, looked at the fight for a moment before he went inside.
“Hey Steve, I knew I’d find you here!”
He then addressed Hwoarang:
“Hi! Mind if I interrupt a bit?”
He then addressed both of them, pointing the bike outside:
“You like my new bike? It’s a 2018 Yamaha XSR700. I just bought it with the money I earned from the bodyguard job Lee Chaolan gave me. Thought now Chaolan’s gone in Ireland and didn’t want me to come with him to do my bodyguard job. He’s probably doing some boring rich guy stuff so I don’t complain not being there. Beside he also hired me to train with him for the tournament…”
“I’m so glad this tournament came into existence…” added Paul almost talking to himself before he continued on the first subject.
“I guess he would prefer to have hired Marshall since he would have some chances of winning with him during practice and none with me but Marshall really doesn’t seem interested right now. He’s too busy with his own business. So since I had nothing to do and I now got money, I went to buy that baby. Wanna ride it?”

Hwoarang groaned painfully as the British boxer's punch connected with its target. Stumbling backward holding where the stirke hit, the Blood Talon had to take a minute to recover.
"Looks I'll be pissing blood for a couple of days. Thanks dude." He grumbled a bit trying to shake off the pain. The fiery Korean knew he had some work to put in before the tournament began.
“Hey Steve, I knew I’d find you here!”
Hwoarang looked up to see KOIF tournament vetern Paul Phoenix. The Blood Talon winced not entirely sure if he could take anymore strong punches to his kidneys or ribs. Pauls was just as strong as Steve and then some.
“Hi! Mind if I interrupt a bit?”
The Korean youth chuckled a little before standing up properly as the rough and tough man spoke to him.
"Oh no! Go ahead. I need a breather!" The Blood Talon replied with a nod of his head.

Steve stopped as well, panting and sweating from the sparring. Hwoarang was a very worthy opponent. He honestly had to stay on his toes and focus. It kept the fight spirit inside of him alive.
"Hey Paul! Long time no see! How's it going, mate?"
Steve went and looked at the bike. It looked a lot like his old one, but this one looks cooler. He really liked it. He was also happy to hear that Paul finally got a job instead of just being a "self-employed fighter". And it was good that it paid well enough for him to get a new bike.
"I'm happy for you! Maybe I should get that same job, too!"
“I guess he would prefer to have hired Marshall since he would have some chances of winning with him during practice and none with me but Marshall really doesn’t seem interested right now. He’s too busy with his own business. So since I had nothing to do and I now got money, I went to buy that baby. Wanna ride it?”
"Hey, Hwoarang, want to test your bike up against Paul's new bike?"

"Hey, Hwoarang, want to test your bike up against Paul's new bike?"
“Yeah, that’d be cool! I love every kind of competition, not just fights… Bring it on, I wanna test that baby!”
Paul then told Steve:
“Hey yeah, you should ask for that job! Then when we would go to boring places for business reunions or something, we could talk together.”
Paul showed his hair.
“I got that hairstyle because Chaolan didn’t want me to go to some boring place we went the other day with my usual hairstyle. I told him that he sometimes dye his hair purple so I’m no worse than him. He first didn’t know what to say then told me Violet was another identity so it was not the same thing. I told him it was as good as an identity as Superman and Clark Kent and that I’m two identities as well, Paul Phoenix and Toughest fighter in the universe. He wasn't amused and told me: You know what I mean… I honestly don’t. I don’t understand why my hair is that bad if I wear it like usual in some snobbish reunion. I mean my hair down is not better, it’s probably still too long for real conventional guys… so who cares if they are combed upside? But since he’s my employer, I did as he asked me and dropped the hairstyle for this reunion. Sometimes Chaolan is so annoying with his elegance and snobbish manners… Don't think I don't like him, Chaolan's a good friend but sometimes… You know we didn’t start on the best foot when we first met almost thirty years ago… We almost hated each other…”

When arrived to Average Joe's Gym from Shibuya Hotel with Zakk, Shery while carried a small travel-bag entered the gym and it seems its has a very few people in it. There's an oriental man with eyepatch along with the two caucasian men. They seems still talked each others and Zakk approached them. It seems the detective knews them so well. She approached the gym's receptionist and nodded with respect,
Shery: "Excuse me, miss. I am new here. May I request a temporary membership registration for this gym?"
The receptionist girl bowed down with respect.
Receptionist: "Welcome to the Average Joe's Gym, mam. Yes, please fill this registration form with ¥20,000 for a month's membership payment!"
Shery: "Thank you, miss. By the way, the King of Iron Fist Tournament will be start in this district. Is this gym has sponsored by Mishima Zaibatsu as well?"
Receptionist: "Every registrated gym always sponsored and had been fully paid by the Zaibatsu when announced six months before the tournament started, no matter the tournament has been canceled before. The Mishima Zaibatsu always gave the equal opportunity for everyone who interested to be a participants. Beside, someone has been resumed the tournament for honoring the zaibatsu's late boss. So the membership payments has been discounted from ¥100,000 to became ¥20,000, mam."
Shery seems a little disappointed since she wouldn't got any information about Mishima Zaibatsu.
Shery: "I see. By the way, about this great gym, have it several VIP room for private training, miss?"
The receptionist seems displeased about Shery's question. Beside, Shery's was a foreigner who didn't seems a rich person at all with only a slender figures as a beginner.
Receptionist: "Mam! The VIP room only reserve for the VIP membership and national athletes! The VIP membership cost will be ¥250,000 for a month!"
Shery quiet for a while. Shery showed her a card and asked the receptionist.
Shery: "Fine. Please forgive my question before. About the Mishima Zaibatsu's main sponsorships, what about this invitation card, miss?"
The receptionist shocked. Her face became so pale and she looked so terrified. She bowed down so deeply.
Receptionist: "P-p-please forgive me!!! Forgive me, mam!!! I have no idea if mam is a tournament's international competitor!!! Please don't tell anyone or my boss!!! Please!!! I begging you, mam!!!"
Shery: "No problem. I won't tell anyone. Now about the VIP room-"
Receptionist: "Yes! We have several VIP rooms here! But the VIP rooms were designed for a single private person, so the room didn't large enough for sparring..."
Shery: "That's fine, thank you."
Receptionist: "The registration form and the payments has been canceled, mam. The tournament participants didn't need to pay nor filled any registration form like your friend and those three men there. All free and the VIP-rooms door on the left there, mam. The light turquoise colored door. But first, we must take a photograph about the participants who came first time here while they still held the invitation cards in their hands. That's the zaibatsu's rule, mam...."
What? The detective and those men also the competitors? Shery couldn't believed what she heard, but at least she got worthy informations. After the receptionist took a photograph with her cellphone, Shery approached Zakk and the other three men before she entered the VIP room.

Hwoarang followed behind Steve as the Brit went to check out Paul's new wheels not wanting to miss out on the chance to look at a new bike. He listened quietly as the two caught up with each other. The fiery Korean smiling still holding his side when the British Boxer addressed him.
"Hey, Hwoarang, want to test your bike up against Paul's new bike?"
Now that would be something! A race after a spar! An adernaline junkie's dream come true! But considering that kidney punch earlier Hwoarang thought racing might not be a good idea at the moment.
“Yeah, that’d be cool! I love every kind of competition, not just fights… Bring it on, I wanna test that baby!”
Hearing Paul's enthusiastic response to Steve idea, The Blood Talon couldn't help but laugh realizing how much fun it would be to race despite how sore he was already feeling from his fight with the Brit.
"You know that doesn't sound half bad!"

"Eh, I do prefer the other hairstyle. This one does make you look more refined, but that's Mr. Lee for you." Steve shrugged.
Steve then took notice of Zakk and Shery as the two to approached him.
"Zakk? What are you doing here?"
"I'm here to keep my mind off of things. In fact, you're just the perfect person I want to see. Steve, I want you to meet Shery. She's also looking into investigating the Mishima Zaibatsu."
"Nice to meet you." Steve offered Shery a handshake. He then glanced at Zakk. "So, tell me, where's Lei's girlfriend?"
Zakk shrugged. "Last time I checked, she's still in Poland. Pops went to go visit her again."
"I see."
"Just wait until the tournament because she will be there." Zakk said.
He then gave Hwoarang a wave, and Paul, too.
"I like the new hair." Zakk said to Paul. "And nice bike."

"('Zakk'? Was that how they called Detective Lei? Cool name....)" "Nice to meet you." Steve offered Shery a handshake. "Hi, I am Shery. Nice to meet you too, Mr. Steve.", Shery handshaked with Steve Fox. After Zakk waved hand and greeted to Hwoarang and Paul Phoenix who tested their bikes, Shery smiled and nodded with respect to them.

"Eh, I do prefer the other hairstyle. This one does make you look more refined, but that's Mr. Lee for you." Steve shrugged as Paul said:
“Yeah, ain’t my style…”
"Heh, mister Lee… Yeah…" muttered Paul who kept calling Lee like that when he had to address him during work in some snobbish reunions even if Lee didn’t ask him but Paul thought it was the polite way even though Lee always answered him by calling him Paul. Was it because Paul was the employee and Lee could or was it that Paul could also call Lee, Chaolan? Paul was still confused with all those etiquette things… It scared him more than any physical danger that could exist… Luckily, he mostly had to stay there and keep an eye on any danger, not address everyone around. He was not exactly part of the gang…
Paul wondered if that was why he didn’t like Lee at first, because Lee lived in a world that Paul didn’t like, and even somehow scorned. He remembered how Lee tried to be part of the group when he began to wear jeans and some leather vest, to look more ‘cool’ (or commoner?) and hang out with him and Marshall… But Lee still couldn’t help telling them how much his leather vest with his personalized unicorn on it had cost and talking about the elegant and renowned brand of his new jeans… And his expensive silver necklace… Ugh… He just couldn’t be a simple guy.
Yet Paul knew Lee wasn’t the only one to boast about something, Paul knew he was a quite big bragger himself, not on the same thing but still… And it wasn’t always the same one who started the bragging contest… He thought at the time that it was funny to see this spoiled rich boy being angry at losing… One thing he couldn’t buy… Poor Marshall, stuck between them… Trying to keep them to get along… Yet they never really fought (in the sense of really getting into an argument, not physically fighting, that they did a lot of course, but it sometimes was kind of cold between them, which could make Marshall feel quite uncomfortable…) Lee always remained polite with Paul, despite sometimes showing some aloofness or even being slightly haughty toward him, but he probably didn't act as badly as Paul who never hid his jealousy well and sometimes acted a little more roughly and arrogantly, a thing that he regretted now.
Paul had begun to really like Lee during the first and second tournament when he learned more about Lee, who apparently wasn’t the spoiled brat he thought he was, and about his evil family (and he learned that Kazuya, that guy he met some years earlier, was in fact Lee’s adopted brother). Paul didn’t know that Lee was adopted and had lived as an orphan in the streets for some years. He thought Lee’s current father family name was Lee and Mishima was only the name of the company. Lee was not the kind to tell his problems very quickly, everything was always excellent with him, so Paul didn’t know until he went to Japan for the tournament and changed his mind on his friend. With the bad examples he had with his adoptive family, Lee could have turned out to be far worse than he was but in fact always remained kind and generous despite bragging about his money. He had helped Marshall (and Paul by extension since Paul often lived at Marshall’s apartment) on many occasions and his little show-off and slightly haughty attitude was nothing beside the cruelty of both his father and brother (and the real haughty one really was Kazuya, who never deemed Paul worthy enough to go on with their rivalry, he really was the insulting one)… Lee was in fact a good guy, so Paul began to really appreciate him and changed his own jealous attitude. Now he would protect him from anything, no need to be hired, he’d do it for free if Lee was in danger (though it was better to be paid, of course).
Then Hwoarang replied at the racing idea.
"You know that doesn't sound half bad!"
Paul smiled at Hwoarang and said while hitting his palm with his fist, like if he would start a fight:
“So let’s do it!”
Paul liked that guy, he seemed full of energy and always ready to compete. And apparently he was trying to compete with Kazuya's son, Jin, who seemingly was acting like Kazuya and scorning Hwoarang as well. Well, that was what he heard…
Then Zakk came with a girl. Paul didn’t say anything as Steve greeted the two but after Zakk complimented his hair, Paul, who didn’t want to complain about Lee’s hair request to everyone, simply replied:
“Thanks.”
But he then gazed at his bike with far much pride and continued:
“Yeah… I just bought it. I’m gonna beat Hwoarang in a race with it.”
Paul briefly looked at the young Korean to see his reaction while smiling once more, competitive reactions were always cool to see, then added, on a complete other subject:
“How’s your cousin? She’s doin’ well?”
He then nodded to Shery.
“Hi, I’m Paul Phoenix, toughest fighter in the universe.”
He couldn’t help but add that last part. He really was indeed an annoying bragger…
